Moves to fix defense

Forgot about the overshown Injury. Just not happy with Barham and his lack of effort someone posted on here. Not sure what that was about. Reminded me of jaylon smith and Mike Jenkins lol
 
I just watched a streamer breaking down most of the defensive series for the game and it's much worse than I thought. We nead LB help immediately or it's going to be as brutal if not worse than last year running a 3-4 defense with the current players. YIKES!!!!!!
 
I'd use a lot more man coverage. It might not be what they would like to do, but our CBs seem to really suck at zone. See: last year or this year.
 
1. Draft a game changing pass rusher..not mediocre guys in the 2nd round. (Eze, Sam williams, Marshawn kneeland)
2 Don't draft injury prone linebackers ( over shown, Jaylon smith, Vander each)

Most of the plays I saw him in there, he played hard, so I'll give him a pass if he had a play where he didn't try hard enough because he didn't think he had a chance.

Im hoping that's why he did it but still doesn't look very good. The angle might have made it look like he was closer than he was also.

Yeah, it's just one play. He can learn from that just like he can learn from other plays where he didn't react quickly enough, took false steps, etc. I saw a couple of good things and some things he needs to work on, which should be expected with a rookie linebacker.

What is Malachi Lawrence, isn’t he supposed to be a LB/edge?
Maybe I don’t understand what an edge is in football term.
 
Bland should definitely be in the slot but it doesn't matter much if they don't figure out how to not only generate a passrush, but be disruptive in the backfield in general.

  • Generate organic pressure: Win upfront with the front four to avoid exposing the secondary.
  • Simplify defensive communication: Eliminate pre-snap confusion and zone busts that cause catastrophic coverage breakdowns.
  • Maintain gap integrity: Shore up the interior run defense to stop early-down ground bleeding.
  • Stabilize safety assignments: Clarify deep-third responsibilities to cover for injured personnel and prevent big plays.
  • Lock down underneath routes: Defend quick flat passes and crossers to stop opponents from nickel-and-diming.
  • Time blitzes effectively: Ensure any extra pressure packages are disguised, coordinated, and properly timed.
  • Restore player confidence: Rebuild trust with young or benched players so they play aggressively without fear.
  • Control early downs: Force opponents into long-yardage situations rather than letting them dictate the game's tempo.
  • Accelerate in-game adjustments: Adapt quickly when opposing coordinators exploit initial schemes, avoiding early defensive spirals.

Great assessment. I got so angry watching the edge players crashing down, trying to make a play on the other side of the field instead of containing their side of the field
