Unfortunately that's trench wars. Its the nature of the beast.
Guys are always tripping and fallin' on the back of the legs and knees of OL and DL guys.
(ala Steele's ACL) those type of accidents happen to even the more durable guys.

We have to acquire the proper depth guys (per personnel crew) - and we have to develop these players and have
them ready (per our coaches)

I applaud the club for not being content with staying with a Matt Farniok by default, keeping
a scrub player who has not advanced and improved his game, just for the sake of needing a backup center.
Farniok was the best backup Center.

I think Bass is better and that’s why they let him go. When a draft pick comes in and is as good as someone you have invested time in it can be an easy decision. But a few injuries can change your mind. This is where I believe we should have gotten Peters in early to get him in some kind of shape. He comes in off the street and is no way ready. And he don’t move good anymore. But stick him at guard and he maybe pretty good.
Bass is better than Farniok at what position? Center?

If Moore is referring to Jerry's interview on 103.5, I'm calling foul on Moore b/c Jerry chose his words carefully in answer to the question posed...

RJ: "As of now there's no reason to think he won't be available for week one?"

Jerry: "Other than the fact that he had to leave practice. But nothing that we've evaluated keeps him out at this point." (Had noted seconds before this, that the MRI was in-progress.)

It's one thing for fans, it's another when people who are "professional" reporters so blatantly skew their words to dump on people, even if it's a wealthy billionaire owner of a team. No excuse for Moore writing that tweet the way he wrote it.

Is that what happened Farni got butt hurt and went home. When a rook comes in and looks better then that’s what happens. He had to know he wouldn’t be on PS for long.
that's why I added with a question mark as there have been conflicting words if Farniok refused to go practice squad
vs becoming a complete street FA.
As of this date, i have not heard if he is on another NFL team's roster of any kind.

Farniok was the best backup Center.
By default.

Because there simply wasn't any other legit competition for the backup center role on the roster.
Not Hoffman. Not Lindstrom. And apparently the club did not feel being held hostage by a player they did not
think was worth a 53 man roster.

Otherwise Farniok would still be on this 53 man roster.

He'll probably play, and then aggravate it and miss several games.

Minor hamstring injury is an oxymoron.
I agree, I just assume rest him and try our luck with Bass. I’d rather be short staffed for 1 or 2 games than have this linger all season.

Did you watch the preseason games? Farniok was the best Center all preseason since Biadiasz was not allowed to play. I don't care what the team thought. New Oline coach Mike Solari obviously had a big say. Look up the end of season Oline ranks for the last 15 years and teams Solari has been the Oline coach. Answer: not good. Here. Take a look...

If you want to kiss up to this team's decisions when it comes to the Oline and Oline coaches the past 5 - 8 years, go ahead. I won't.

Again Farniok was the best backup center in preseason by default, because none of the other backup centers on the camp roster just weren't any good.

Why do you think Farniok got cut and not on this 53 roster, if he was any good ?

" Don't care what the team thought ? " lol. :muttley:

Yeah Solari is the new O-Line coach. He looks to be more of an aggressive style than the last bum. Let’s hope he takes these guys off the chain.

Don't understand the regret over Farniok.

There are 32 NFL teams right now that can't even find a spot for him on their practice squad and some people act like the Cowboys cut a Pro Bowler.

You don't know what you were watching. When allowed to play Center, Farniok played well. During the last preseason game against the Raiders, Farniok played very well at Center. Go rewatch that game. I honestly don't understand what the team is thinking having no backup Center to start Game 1. If Biadasz goes down with injury, it's going to be curtains for this Offense.
