Alot of talk has been said about the Boys running Murray into the ground. We have to remember all the reports last season about Murray not wanting to come out of games and the Boys complying. I just watched Randle's carries from last year and a thought crossed my mind. Garrett has always preChed about putting the best players on the field right?
Herebis my thought....maybe Murray didnt want to come of the field for two reasons...one it was a contract year and two..maybe he was afraid Randle's play would result in Randle getting more carries or that Randle would take his job entirely.
The video shows that Joseph Randle is a very good back and I think we are all in for a treat...

Man, I think it was just a case of Murray not wanting to come out and the coaches not wanting to mess with a good thing (team chemistry).

I doubt Murray was truly worried about Randle, although it could have been in the back of his mind.

Just going with what was working, IMO. The team probably had some idea that they wouldn't bid high for Murray and so just rode that horse as hard as they needed to.

Not a lot of clandestine activity going on in Dallas, I think.

Maybe, just maybe, the reason why Murray didn't come out was because he was incredibly productive, the best pass protecting running back on the roster, and a player whose presence in the game didn't provide a specific hint as to what the Cowboys were looking to execute on a given play.

Or, it could be because he was insecure about Joseph Randle. You decide.

This theory just isn't as fun as a good ole conspiracy theory. lol

I think Murray could have gotten more money if he shaved 50 carries off his total. I think the workload scared alot of teams. It was pretty much us, the Raiders, the Jags and the Eagles bidding for him

I think Murray had a alot to prove last year at a critical time in his life. Him sitting out games with that hand costs him money and him playing with it tells team's " I can play hurt at a high level.

Given his injury history and the fact that that 2nd contract is probably going to be the biggest chunk of money he will ever I dont blame him for not wanting to come out

Also let me reiterate as my last two post are contradictory......

Murray made a mistake IMO pushing to keep that work load the full season. Once he set thay record he should have sat out a few series a game.

However once he got hurt he did need to prove to people that even if he js injured he is tough enough to play through the pain, and can get through a 16 game plus playoff slate even if injured

Then that's on the coach. No player with heart "wants" to come out. The coach should have dictated that. I still think they had concerns about how much they trusted Randel with more of a work load. I think they are still concerned.

Yea I think the coaches might have felt some relief that Murray was so successful then
then fix not want is unbroken

To me, it looked like Murray called the shots on when he was going to come out unless the play package dictated that he must come off.

His production that helped him lead the league in rushing is what got him so much money he wouldn't have produced as much with fewer carries. Showing that he could carry a huge load and stay on the field is another thing that earned him so much money.

Yeah, if we had used him less and used some other backs Murray would have been cheaper to sign.

I can believe Murray didn't want to come out of games...however it's the coaches decision who plays and how much. If Garrett thought more of Randle then Randle would have carried the ball more. Not meaning he hates Randle as a player just that he liked Murray more as a player last year.

I doubt Murray was worried about Randle taking his job.

Btw...funny sig line...but who is Rhonda Rouzey? Is she somehow related to Rhonda Rousey the MMA queen?

No one is going to pay huge money for a back that can't carry a full load. As devalued as the RB position has become Murray couldn't have expected to get much more money than he did although the Raiders did offer him more than Philly.

No running back wants to come out. Most rb's get better with more carries, to a point
I don't think it was about randle, just a guy wanting to prove himself
Murray is a very good and complete RB who got himself a good payday
I hated to see him go but it was the right move
Now randle is the guy with something to prove and my hope is the results are the same
He won't get the carries Murray did but what's important is how effective he is with the ones he gets
If he can keep his head straight and stay healthy I think he can have a nice year
Don't think he gets 1800 yards but I think he can get over 1000, probably in the 1200 range
Can he be an effective blocker and reciever out of the backfield are the real question marks

Can't really fault the coaches for keeping Murray in-game so much. Dude ended up with 1,800+ yards, which is obviously nothing to sneeze at.

I do believe Randle will surprise some people and turn some heads this year, though.

I think Jerry and Steven looked at Murray's 4 years with us and thought - the first three years Murray was hurt. Could have he played through these injuries? No one knows, but he didn't play and he hurt our team badly. Then, in his contract year he gets hurt again, and instead of loafing off and stabbing us in the back, he finally plays through the injuries for selfish reasons - to get a bigger contract. You are supposed to play like it is a contract year EVERY YEAR, EVERY PLAY!

And if I were Jerry I would have ran him into the ground with 400 carries with the knowledge that there was no way in hell I'm paying him big bucks when he loafs three years and plays tough for one. JJ and son also know that Randle's production in college was every bit as good or BETTER than Murray's and they were in the same conference. So by grinding Murray into paste, we get him a big contract with another team, we lose the inconsistency of Murray, and we have a replacement who looks on paper and film to be every bit as good as Murray his first four years averaged. I don't give a flying F Murray left and I'm PUMPED he went to a rival. We will collect his fumbles now. We will laugh when he misses 7 games and gets paid $1,000,000 per game played. If I ever saw him there would probably be a fight but I know if I could run 33 yards he would collapse before catching me. Screw him.
