Enya... My wife gives me grief when I listen to Enya while driving. I can be trapped in the mother of all traffic jams and feel absolutely no road rage when listening to Enya.
We just came back from a trip into Denver. Some of the roads were still wet and, in places, icey. Naturally, traffic was slow... Should have added Cher to the list of artist that garners a bit of grief from my wife.

;)

Another one that guys didn't admit freely was The Carpenters but Karen had the voice of an angel. Her brother, Richard, was a great pianist and arranger as well.
I have no problem telling people I like the Carpenters. I still say Karen had the purest voice ever recorded, like the ringing of a crystal champagne flute. John Denver would be her male counterpart in that regard, IMO.

Yeah but you're a manly man showing off your guns in your avatar, you could like Tiny Tim covering Pink Floyd and no one's going to give you any guff about it.

I received constant grief and mocking over my music when I was living at home. I felt I could not just enjoy it, but must defend it. This engrained certain groups deep into my DNA. They are the soundtrack of my life. Momma didn't like music so money for it was perceived as frivolous. My library was sparse and I milked every single note out of what I had. It was Beatles, Bee Gees and Motown in the poor days. I've expanded to alternative, blues, classical, new age and reggae. There's probably more, but they aren't coming to mind. Oh! Add New Kids On The Block. Much grief!

Once I got a great deal of grief for not liking Elton John in the Home Depot parking lot. It's strange because I didn't say anything about him yet had to hear how great he is. It was a cousin and I think that was his big attempt to come out of the closet. Between you and me, I don't care for most of Elton's music and won't confirm or deny that particular relatives sexuality.

I can't stand 99.98% of country music. (I was the infidel in The Grand Old Opry one year.) No to rap. I refuse to listen to Led Zeppelin, don't get Pink Floyd, only interested in Van Halen when David Lee Roth is wearing chaps and one song is enough. I just don't care for most of the heavy stuff.

Thank you for the thread, Reverend.

I've discovered something about womenfolk and their likes as opposed to most guys. There are 3 things that a lot of guys like that women don't, pork skins, The 3 Stooges and Pink Floyd.

I can still remember fondly when my wife first discovered I had seen all of the 3 Stooges short films and that I still watched them, she never looked at me the same after that. When I bought the entire collection on VHS, I had to hide them. Most men hide porn from their wives, I hid my 3 Stooges collection. I had to fight the urge, when we were being romantic, to go "n'yuk, n'yuk, n'yuk" and at the crescendo not go "woo woo woo".

I definitely have to give you guys grief for not liking Pink Floyd. Comfortably Numb has quite possibly the greatest guitar solo in rock-n-roll history. It's magical.

Anyone who can listen to Floyd through headphones, and not be a fan by the time the headphones come off is just wired wrong.

I not only love the Three Stooges, I think they're the greatest comedy team that ever existed. I love them with Curly or with Shemp. They were great either way. If I ever meet anyone who doesn't love the Stooges, I'm suspicious of them.
