I received constant grief and mocking over my music when I was living at home. I felt I could not just enjoy it, but must defend it. This engrained certain groups deep into my DNA. They are the soundtrack of my life. Momma didn't like music so money for it was perceived as frivolous. My library was sparse and I milked every single note out of what I had. It was Beatles, Bee Gees and Motown in the poor days. I've expanded to alternative, blues, classical, new age and reggae. There's probably more, but they aren't coming to mind. Oh! Add New Kids On The Block. Much grief!
Once I got a great deal of grief for not liking Elton John in the Home Depot parking lot. It's strange because I didn't say anything about him yet had to hear how great he is. It was a cousin and I think that was his big attempt to come out of the closet. Between you and me, I don't care for most of Elton's music and won't confirm or deny that particular relatives sexuality.
I can't stand 99.98% of country music. (I was the infidel in The Grand Old Opry one year.) No to rap. I refuse to listen to Led Zeppelin, don't get Pink Floyd, only interested in Van Halen when David Lee Roth is wearing chaps and one song is enough. I just don't care for most of the heavy stuff.
Thank you for the thread, Reverend.
