It's not like they skimped either

Avril 7.5m, Bennett 6m, Membane 5.5m and they just lost Bryant and Clemons this year.

Add in about 6 draft picks over the last 3 years and they invested heavily into their DL

Those are reasonable compared to one guy like Suh getting more than double of Avril.

Does anyone want to lose a playoff game again because of an NFL ruling? Well be prepared to do so if we get Suh. He WILL cross the line again and we will get no mercy from the league like Detroit did.

Do you want to lose a game again because we can't get any pressure on a QB who is hobbled? Game should not have come down to that 1 play

Guess you missed my point. He can't pressure the QB if he's suspended

We don't have to shop for hamburger every meal

Some meals we can splurge and get a big juicy steak

Crawford, DLaw, Mincey, Brent, Gardner, Bishop, Akoye, Spencer? all make hamburger

We should add a couple draft picks to the DL as well, more hamburger prices

LBs are cheap
CBs are cheap if we cut Carr
FS and SS are cheap

We need some studs on Defense, not just reasonable contracts

Sure makes sense. So you as a GM wouldn't take the risk because you are banking on him getting suspended. Which is understandable.

Me as a GM put a stipulation in his contract for such instances and reap the benefits of his talent.

Neither is right or wrong. Just differing opinions

Just a minute ago you were acting like those were big contracts. Look they likely will be willing to pay several million for a pass rusher just not JJ Watt money.

I said the Seattle contracts were fairly large, not Dallas'

If you are going to pay for DL help you should start at the top and work your way down. If they miss out on Suh, they can start looking at lesser players.

The capt hit for Watt is around $12 to $13 million a year. Can Dallas absorb that type of hit for Suh and still sign the other players they need?

Put it this way we are paying 12 million for Carr next year. If Suh can come here with an incentive laden contract that doesn't break the bank, I'd be all for it. But for 12 - 13 million with his production I think its worth it.

They play different positions. Suh is without question the best DT in the NFL, Watt is the best DE.

JJ lines up at DT plenty. He earned 2nd team all pro honors for DT..

If Watt just played DT Suh would still not be in the same galaxy as him

Meanwhile, I'll be drooling over the fact that the Pats are cap hurt and Devin McCourty is out there. Suh will cost more money than the value of team production he will give.

Hogwash. The Texans also play in a 3-4 defense vs The Lions 4 man rush. Different styles, different players. If Watt were playing NT in a 4-3 in Detroit, he wouldn't have 20 sacks a season. I'd bet my home on it. Watt is a beast! Best DE in football. He's not a DT. Not that he couldn't be great at it, but as it is now, they play and have been playing different positions, different schemes the entire time they've been in the NFL and College (minus JJ's stint at TE).

Reasonable was your word. I said Dallas has a ton of young guys on cheap deals. They can afford a few expensive ones after dumping Carr, Melton and Free.

Romo, TSmith and Dez on O
Suh and a DE on D
