My case for Suh

JJ Watt doesn't face double teams? Also, you are acting like Suh plays In the 3-4 as a nose tackle. He isn't raji or wilfork. He too goes after the qb a high percentage of the time.

I get that D Ends are presented with more opportunities to sack the qb than DT...Everyone does. But anyone that has seen the two play, and has seen Watt move down to DT should realize he can play up to or better than SUh at his position.

In any case, this whole argument was predicated by the fact that SUh wants Watt money. THe ' best ' DT in the league by a landside (nod to Gerald McCoy and Sheldon Richardson) shouldn't be paid as much as the best D end in the league.

Has Suh ever played in a 3-4? He is a 4-3 DT, but if he was foolish enough to sign for a 3-4 team he would most likely play the 0 tech in a Phillips 3-4. He would be an absolute waste in any other 3-4, as Sapp found out when he signed with Raiders.

Don't think Suh coming to Dallas is a real possibility. Starting to think he may not even hit the market. Detroit GM Martin Mayhew & HC Jim Caldwell have both said he's a high priority for them...with Mayhew stating they'd even consider franchising him which IIRC, would cost 26+ mil.

Perhaps they'll look at a few of the following players:

- DE Jabaal Sheard (averaged 55 tackles & 8 sacks in his rookie & 2nd year while playing 4-3 DE)
- DE Jerry Hughes
- DE Pernell McPhee (think is versatility could make him a coveted commodity if he hit the market)
- DT Jared Odrick
- DE Brandon Graham
- DT Nick Fairley (this Detroit DT would seemingly have a better chance of ending up in Dallas)
- DE Adrian Clayborn (showed some of his production potential in 2011 & 2013...injury plagued in 2012 & 2014)
- DT Stephen Paea (6 sacks in 2014...familiarity with Marinelli)
- DE Brian Orakpo (perhaps on a prove it deal...basically 40 sacks in 4 1/2 years minus time missed with injury)

As much productivity as Marinelli has gotten out of his no-name defense, I'd rather get a moderately priced DL in FA and draft another in round 1.

I remember another top-rated DT who had discipline problems and was signed by a huge contract by an NFC East team.

Haynesworth = Suh

No thank you.

Take the money and spend it on Paea and Sheard.

Excellent you gave one example. I'll see your haynesworth who had discipline problems and I'll raise you Charles Haley...

Hey the Charles Haley thing worked out well (OK, very, very well :)).

BUT Charles was acquired via trade, before free agency and salary cap greatly influenced roster decisions.

Suh's contract would be an anchor this team would wear around its neck for years... Not to mention the constant threat of him not being available due to his lack of discipline.

In addition just compare these two players...

Suh 875 snaps, 8 sacks, 12 QB hits and 37 pressures

Paea 709 snaps, 5 sacks, 11 QB hits and 31 pressures

For the cost difference I'm taking Paea and signing Sheard too in order to help out at DE.

That is one reason I'm not a big believer in numbers. Teams don't game plan against Paea. Re-watch what Suh did against our all-pro G and our whole offensive line. He may not get the sacks but he COMMANDS a double team and still makes his way into the backfield.

Paea would still be nice don't get me wrong.

so rumor is Suh is looking for jj watt money. I'm ok with that, the guy is a game changer. Now I'm not 100% ok with his antics of stomping people, but language to address that in the contract can be implemented.

If we sign Suh that gets Hayden out of there and drastically improves the interior. That leaves one hole on our line at LDE... Or does it. I believe mincey can handle that.

That brings us into the draft able
to draft BPA. Though that still leaves us with CB and FS holes. But in all reality we can't have it all. Suh will demand double teams constantly which will free up Crawford and Lawrence and hopefully create more pressure to mask some secondary weakness.

Sir the NFL and the hearwith team of lore we call the Cowboys half, I understand, standards. Standards like fair play and civility, even in the heat of football tussel.
When we veer into the "game changer" strain kind off mind, we close our eyes to thuggismistic.
Suh be a bone affied thug.
We are better dan that, sir.
We should stand for better like we should demand adeauate gravy on ourn grits, know what I am saying?
Pass on Suh. Go on young players to develop.

Money is the only case against. Below is what I hold against him. Wrecking that Chevelle SS. OK, I hold his choice in rims against him too.

Suh isn't even in the same galaxy as Watt

I think Watt is quite possible the best player in football (and Im not including the gimmick offensive TD), but with that said, Not in the same Galaxy is a streeeeeeetchhhh. 1st. Different positions so Suhs stats arent going nor should they look like watts. 2. Suh does his job better than anyone else in the nfl, just like Watt does his.

It look like it could come down to either Suh or Megatron?

Let's treat this like Madden.

Our D was good enough to get us into the second round. So let's save up all our money. Let Murray go, release Carr

Then just go after Tron, and keep Dez, and make no more upgrades. Let these 2 carry us into the playoffs, and to the SB.

Just sell out, we only have a small window.

Suh isn't Haynesworth. Haynesworth was lazy and had a terrible work ethic, and once he got paid he basically retired.

Suh's always mentioned as one of the hardest working guys on the team, and he's already made an absolutely ridiculous amount of money and still brings his lunch pail to work every day.

You can compare their "on the field" issues all you want, but the dude has the work ethic of 10 Haynesworth's. If you take off the disciplinary stuff, he's absolutely the RKG.

He's going to cost a ton though, and he's going to get McCoy money. However, our 1-tech usually takes a ton of snaps and Suh's perfectly capable of playing there and even backing up the 3.

Realistically, you could get Suh + Sheard/Graham while franchising Dez if you wanted too. You'd have to get creative with the contracts to sign the other FA players we want to bring back but it's possible.

Do they really think they can spend that much to franchise him? That would be crazy. Especially when the have other big contracts with Stafford and Megatron.

Pierre Paul DE McCarty S. Wouldn't go out for another CB. Rather draft one and hope Claiborne shows up finally.

JPP is going to command(ask) for just as much as suh...

and we wouldnt get him and McCarty at S from the patriots for the same dollar figure as suh
