My issue with Bosa at 4

Not sure why people getting all pissy at the Bosa Ellis comparisons.

If you go back and look at the draft scouting guides of Ellis, they read similar to Bosa. Both consensus AAs. But logged 50+ tackles for loss. Both were around 30 sacks for their careers.

Now do you hope Bosa has a better NFL career than Ellis if the Cowboys take him? Sure. Ellis was a nice player but not an elite player. You'd hope Bosa would be an elite DE if you drafted him.

Next year's draft class is always better. Every year.

You're severely underrating Bosa as an athlete and pass rusher if you are comparing him to Greg Ellis. Here's who actual nfl executives are comparing Bosa to. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap30...ats-best-nfl-comp-for-ohio-state-de-joey-bosa ...just a little different than your Ellis and Justin Smith (this still makes me chuckle) comparisons.

There was never a wait till 2016 draft attitude like the 2017 upcoming. I saw that article about Strahan and Jared Allen. Let's get off the Justin Smith theme, I really liked Ellis as a player, he got a raw deal here in Dallas you can agree or disagree it is my opinion. He got a bad rep because he was a whiner(on some bad teams), that is a media thing that I think was Valley Ranch based, when he was on the field he was a force. We are just discussing Ellis as a player, you think it is insult to Bosa I see it as a compliment. The media wrote of him as the Randy Moss loss and he took it too seriously throughout his career. He played on some less than stellar squads that the boys assembled in the late nineties. OK enough on Ellis at our fourth slot picking it very well could be Bosa as a choice. I would be fully behind the selection.

Greg Ellis was a good player. He did his job and was just finding his niche when they changed schemes. Bosa is a better athlete than Ellis ever was and has a relentless motor. I think, because of those two qualities alone, he has much greater potential than Greg Ellis ever had. That's not a knock on Ellis, whom I don't think anyone even cares about his poor attitude anymore--I didn't even remember that until you mentioned it.

Funny note, not that Broaddus will ever get paid to scout again but on Twitter he is saying Bosa reminds him a lot of Chuck Long, who had a similar profile and was a bust after being taken with the second overall pick of the draft.

Bottom line is that its a long, long time until the draft and we are no where close to knowing what the draft will really look like.

I don't know I wouldn't call Chris long a bust . He had seasons with 13 sacks /11.5 / 8.5/ 8 he was pretty good pre -injury . He has slowed down the last 2 seasons due to injury . For the 2nd overall pick i understand he's under achieved but far from a bust.

Sure, its probably too strong to say he is a bust but he was poor value for that pick. Ndamukong Suh was the also a second overall pick of the draft, that is the kind of guy you want that high in the draft. I just don't see it with Bosa at #4.

Still early early lets see what the kid has at the combine and pro day. If both QB's are gone it's probably Bosa or Treadwell . I just don't see anything special with Ramsey or Hargreaves. I saw Hargreaves being abused the couple times I've watched him.

I still want to trade down to 10 or so, what do you think of the LBs that might be available around #10?

Im starting to lighten up to this trade down scenario. I hated the idea because picking so high is rare. But if Goff is gone, and we trade down to 10 and pick up an extra EARLY 2nd rounder im all for it.

Trade down :
1. Myles Jack
2a. Carson Wentz
2b. Will Fuller

That would be pretty sweet

Funny, I posted this in another thread of trading down and taking Jack and Wentz, but my RB was Devontae Booker from Utah. I haven't spent a ton of time watching tape but I really like what I see from that kid.

Im fine with with either a RB/WR with 2b. Think of Fuller as a Desean Jackson clone . I do like Booker so I'd be happy with either.

If anyone is being grossly overrated, particularly around here, it is Miles Jack...

Lawrence was the team leader in sacks this season from the left side. Bosa is immediately better than Lawrence and allows Lawrence to go back to his more natural position on the right. It also means we can let Hardy go and apply those funds somewhere else, or keep him and potentially have the most ridiculous DL in the league.

Bosa is not overrated. He's just not flashy.

Man I agree. Just look at his total body of work. 2013 = 44 tackles, 13.5 tackles for loss, and 7.5 sacks. 2014 = 55 tackles, 21 tackles for loss, 13.5 sacks, and 4 forced fumbles. 2015 (after teams figured out they better get some help on his side) = 51 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, 5 sacks, 4 batted passes, a forced fumble, and a interception. I think he's a top 5 pick and in the mix with Ramsey and Jack as the top defensive players in the draft. If he's available at 4 and should Dallas select him it would set them at a premier position for years with Lawrence, Gregory (we hope), and Bosa. Just saying.

Agree 100%, but his dad went to Boston College. His uncle, Eric Kumerow, went to Ohio State, and was an equally big stiff.

I said it in an earlier post - Bosa as a pick scares the hell out of me. I wouldn't be surprised to hear that he got popped for PED usage.

I hope he does and we can pick him up in the 4th round.

Bosa won't be there at 4.

Hey Sarge, how you doing.

You think Cleveland takes Bosa at 2?

Yea, they may be gun shy to take yet another QB in the first round and Bosa is a local kid as well being from Ohio. If that happens, then I think Goff might be there at pick 4 since neither Tennessee or San Diego are taking QBs.

If Goff is there, I am 90% sure that is our pick.

I think SD takes him but who knows. All speculation of course.

Bosa is from Florida. He played at Ohio State, but he's Florida born and bred.
