My Take on Bosa & #4 Pick

Yeah, not sure where he's getting the idea that Joey Bosa was singled up and still unproductive in college, of all things.

Bosa's a hell of a player and would be a decent pick at 4. He's young and has upside like any college player. People are talking themselves out of him because they want an explosive edge rusher who draft prognosticators unanimously agree has no chance to drop to the 4th pick overall.
Yeah, I have not clue why he didn't show up more on the stat sheet....

Problem is theres nobody that tips the scales available.

You take a QB...3 years from now....you will look back and say how did we ever contemplate taking anything else? ;)

This is a change the face of the franchise moment. Don't let the Tony Romo apologists sway you any other way. It would have been nice to see Romo get a ring....but he has failed time and again.

Please don't make it so people get confused between 'people who understand we need to draft a QB' and 'unnamed crazies who think apologies need to be made for Tony Romo.'

serious question, if we took Bosa, could he slide inside and play like a Aaron Donald?

Valid points.

But that's the issue with Bosa. You would hope that as the #4 overall selection you're getting a "pristine" pass-rusher. And he isn't.

One person (forgot who on this board) made the point that maybe Bosa has "maxed" out. And that's possible. He may not have any more upside to him. He played in an-almost NFL type environment and had top of the line coaching and training– how much more will NFL coaches and trainers get out of him?

He certainly isn't a "quick-twitch" guy.

The thing about other "slow" guys like Strahan and Lawrence is that they were 2nd rounders and not 1st rounders. As a 2nd rounder you can accept a blemish. But for the 4th selection overall, who isn't a QB... He ought to some "special" to him.

Of course with the trade we had to do to get Lawrence he probably cost us like a first rounder depending on how the picks are valued. And of course with Strahan if people new what kind of career he would have he would have been a first rounder, same with Charles Haley. I guess I'm not sure who that elite guy is at number 4 which is why I'd like to trade back get more picks in the top 50. Ramsey is supposed to be elite but only has 3 career interceptions. He's flexible but some guys say at corner he's not too smooth in transition. Jack is an unknown with his injury.

He moved all along the D Line at Ohio state. I would assume that if Gregory gets his act together you would see Crawford/Bosa on the interior while Lawrence/Gregory play end on obvious passing downs.

Well that's it. Unless a "franchise" QB is there and you draft him, it's a tough spot.

Uhhh I don't think you watched very many Ohio state games the past couple years....

IM not saying he wasnt, but he was single blocked alot of the time this yr and still couldnt do much. The majority of his double teams came when they pushed him inside. Seems like i watched enough but you didnt pay attention. What i saw alot is Bosa allowed himself to get washed alot of times. Thats not a double team, thats just a player who didnt recognized what teams were doing to him.

What sort of weird point are you trying to make? Do you think people count to three differently in Hawaii and Illinois?

The double and triple teams moments are exaggerated. Watch him against Michigan State and that is not the case. General point being, that will not happen in the NFL and the fact that bad teams double and triple teamed him is not all that important in terms of evaluating him.

I've only watched some of the draftbreakdown games, but I also noticed a tendency to avoid his side more often than not. Maybe the offenses just tended to be more handed away from him or maybe they knew they'd be better off not going at him.

That said he did miss plays coming at him too when he should have engaged better or stopped it. Nobody's perfect.

What about it? They completely avoided running to his side and he got multiple pressures.

We're specifically talking about the attention he got in college here.

Nobody's suggesting the Patriots are going to be regularly triple teaming him when he gets to the NFL.

If someone is going to bring up the Michigan game, they better bring up how Michigan specifically called plays to avoid going in Bosa's direction. The biggest knock in that game is him jumping off sides, 2 or three times. But when the opposing team is calling plays to take a specific player out of a game, that says a lot.
