According to a piece in todays SB Nation Aidan Davis both Wright and Hill are having good camps . I don’t think Wright was in any danger not making the roaster but it’s nice to know a fairly high pick is having a good camp. Could steal some time from K Joseph maybe challenge Brown.

Hill I would believe is in his last roundup if he doesn’t impress. Cowboys have invested in this position last several drafts plus FA so Hill needs to have a good camp to see the Bucs up close and personal . He has to stay healthy which has been an issue . Two names I was surprised to read about .

From what I've seen, Hill has been breaking through for some would-be sacks. I'm not sure how his run defense has been, though, since that was his main area of weakness. I also don't know who he has been getting those sacks against.

Both of these guys are probably going to be at best rotational players. Hill as a 2nd rounder should have been a starter by now. Wright as a 3rd rounder is probably never going to be more than a good ST player and an occasional situational defensive back. That’s best case scenario.

Worst case- Hill gets cut in Sept and Wright in 2023. We will see.

Not buying the Hill hype.

He does this every year...his problem is he is Mr. Almost. He is in a constant state of penetrating and almost making a play. He doesn't have it in him.

I welcome him to prove me wrong but until then....nope.

I haven’t heard that about Wright… but a lot of media folks who have been at Oxnard have been saying Hill has had a good camp. I have heard it several times on YouTube videos from guys like 103.5 The Fan, etc. I’ve also read it in a few articles.

I’m not getting excited until he makes the team and starts making plays… but still good to hear.

Nice to hear in Wright as well.

That's outstanding to hear
My question is: how do we know who is having a good camp?
Are these former coaches watching who know how to grade players?

Yay more great camp news because it has ALWAYS translated to the field... <sigh>

Hill has been hurt too much to make a difference but the camp teports have been encouraging throughout.

Probably Tyler Biadasz.

Agreed. Both Nayshon Wright and Trysten "baby cakes" Hill have been performing much better this training camp. Nayshon should definitely make the team. Hill has a good chance if he keeps playing well throughout preseason.

I wonder if Israel Mukuamu and/or Donovan Wilson will make the team as Safeties due to Malik Hooker and Jayron Kearse being the starters, plus the additions of Markquese Bell, Tyler Coyle and Juanyeh Thomas as backup competition?

In the recently released depth chart, Hill was 3rd string behind Carlos Watkins, a journeyman veteran minimum player. If that's any real indication, Hill might not even make the roster. He's fighting for the 5th or 6th spot.

I’ve been a little disappointed that I haven’t heard more good things about Juanyeh Thomas because I thought he might surprise. I haven’t given up hope because the preseason games can make or break a player… so he could light it up and get noticed.

Still, it looks like he’s not going to be able to crack the 53 because I can’t see Thomas beating out Mukuamu and especially not Bell, who I think makes it for sure.

He will likely end up on the practice squad where he can learn and take another crack at it next year.

Hill isn't going to be Aaron Donald but he won't be as bad as people make him sound sometimes. He will do okay this year and move on next. But it is amazing how one report in his rookie camp basically ended any chance he has with some Cowboys fans.

Agreed. I see it the same way. Thomas will end up on the practice squad and have another go at it next year. I hope Mukuamu makes the team, but it all depends if the Cowboys decide to keep only 4 or 5 Safeties on the 53 man team? I would hate to lose Mukuamu, but it's going to be tough for him.

I also wonder if Bohanna will make the team this year? So much competition at DT. There are only so many roster spots available. Will definitely come down to how many Dlinemen the Cowboys decide to keep. No way the Cowboys get rid of rookie John Ridgeway since he's a Razorback and a personal pick of Jerry's, so Bohanna could be the odd man out? Will be an interesting preseason and final cuts before the regular season starts.

IMO, Bell will make the 53 before Mukuamu will. I think the team loves Bell and Quinn has a specific role for him to play like Kearse.

I don’t even have a guess as to the Ridgeway/Bohanna competition. It could be either or north making it. However, if I had to guess, I’d go with Ridgeway over Bohanna, like you. We will know soon enough.
