My point is, he needs more talent around him than most QBs, and those people need to get paid.

And my point is that Dak should take every penny that he is worth and let his front office (which is their jobs) figure out how to surround him with talent. Don't look to Dak Prescott to bail out your Front Office's incompetence...when he is ALREADY the 70th highest paid QB in the NFL.

70th! Give that man his money.

yeah lets give him what he's worth. 35 highest pay. That's average. What's that 10-12 million. Just about right.

That's just it. I don't think he's worth more than an "average" salary. For instance, I deliver lumber for a living. If my company needed to send someone with me every day to help me do my job, why should I get paid as much as someone who could do the job by himself? I realize that's a bit of an exaggerated perspective, but I used that example just to make sure my concept was clear.

Nate says he’s a 13-15 mil QB
That’s probably right but that’s not the market
Avg QB’s are gonna get 20 mil or more and that’s just what the market is
QB’s are not paid in tiers where an avg guy get a percentage less than a elite guy. Maybe they should but till something is changed in the CBA to limit what any one player can get the QB is gonna get over paid. Agents love it but the other players shouldn’t because an avg LB or CB is gonna end up getting less in the long run
But the market is the market and Dak is gonna get more than he should just like cousins did and most others do
There are so few elite QB’s and teams know it’s impossible to win in today’s game without atleast an avg QB

Not only that Dakota has shown you can win with him.

The fair market value for Dak Prescott is way more than what Nate is suggesting here. Right or wrong, Jerry and Stephen have already tipped their hand that they intend to extend Dak's contract. And his next contract will not be based on what he has already done but what they believe his potential will be. If he fails to play up to that expectation then it will be terminated early.

Dak is still on a 4th rounder rookie contract
And what do you think he's worth?
He's not worth anymore than a bottom level 1st rounder right now and that is pushing it.

This would be a great opportunity for Dak to prove he's a leader, and take the low priced contract that would help the team surround him with the talent he needs around him.
That would be wise. Either way he's not going to be a pauper. One way gives him a better supporting cast, in theory. The other will unleash the hounds of hell if he doesn't produce bigly. Fan and media s-storm would be relentless.

Dak is an average 16-18m quarterback at best.

Like others have stated let's see what type of guy he is when it comes to the payday. Take less money and bring in supporting cast or take the huge payday and wreck the team for the next several years

lol amazing that folks here think that Dak is worth 16-18 million a year???? He will go down in Cowboy History as the most expensive "Bus Driver" in the NFL.....:omg:

Depends on what your perspective of “big” is. Unfortunately for QBs, all contracts are larger than most.

Middle of the pack would be $18/$19 million which is what Tannehill / Keemun make. From a talent perspective this is probably where Dak falls.

My guy says the FO loves him and will likely give him something in the low 20s and overpay him.

I need to see more, bc what I’ve seen this year does not warrant a $20+ million contract.

We have some substantially huge contracts on the O line. I would expect them to be paid according to how they perform as well. Same should go for every player. We've tied up so much money for the O line it may come back to bite us.

If that's the plan, let him play out his rookie contract and tag him. That would give the Cowboys 5 years to evaluate him, which is far too long IMO. They are nuts to give him a huge overpaid contract anytime soon.

Those guys are all-pros. Yes Tyron is hurt, but he's on a team friendly deal. Dak is near the bottom 3rd in terms of QBs.

What does history tells us......how many players get the big 2nd contract
......and.....their level of performance drops off big time, at least for the first 3 years of the 5 year deal.

is it predictable dak does????....# of tv commercials already for a mid level qb, limited skills evident that get further neglect, stops working on film, ability to read a d.

How is playing injuries and missing games team friendly?
I love the guy and think he's elite when healthy, but I could do without all the penalties and that fear that we have to find a scrap to play LT at any given moment. Injuries happen, but it seems like our O line is snake bitten. It's very disappointing.

My point has nothing to do with Prescott. If he continues to play and improve some of his shortcomings I would still pay him accordingly. Which is in the middle of the pack.

What leverage would Dak Prescott have? Who the hell but the Cowboys is going to sign him to a significant long term deal? They will be negotiating against themselves. There is no market. That front office is the only one who believes he can play.

Case Keenum makes 18 mill per
Of course some team would pay Dak big. If you don’t think he’s better then Case I don’t know what too tell you. I can’t even tell when your trolling anymore.
