I thought it was a crappy rendition, but I thought the same thing about all of the entertainment prior to kickoff. Who the heck decided that No Doubt and Mariah Carey would get people pumped up for a football game? It especially annoyed me that the NFL Network showed it as well while ESPN had no pregame at 8:00.

Gwen Stefani has some nice abs though.

Some may put their own personal touch on the National Anthem in the event they botch it so it won't be so noticeable.

They need to just go back to having the music play and not having any no talent hacks try to perform. Song shouldn't be sung at games. By the fans? Fine.

Can't stand when guitarists try to do it on guitar either. Song is too important and special to let it just get chopped up.

Star Spangled Banner vs America the Beautiful, hmmm, drinking song or hymn before sporting event.

We ought to rotate through the four verses of the Banner and the eight of the Beautiful.

I vote for the third verse of the Banner.

That was a horrible national anthem. But the reasoning behind it was because queen latifah couldn't Do acapella.

And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion,
A home and a country, should leave us no more?
Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps' pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave,
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

Its a good verse.

Anyones version of the National Anthem is better than having to listen to Steven Tyler perform it.

I thought she did well. The national anthem is the most overrated thing in sports entertainment.

There isn't. The people complaining just sound like a bunch of traditionalists and nationalists.

this guy disagrees with you......

I prefer the traditional song myself, but she is American and she sang the words correct and respectful so i dont really have a problem with her version ....music is about feeling and inspiration , who am I to tell her what she feels or what inspires her?.....what bothers me is when they send people up there they know cant sing and let them shred it....ala...Lewis and Barr

Out of all things to complain people are complaint about the National Anthem.

Look at the bright side we could all be sitting here complaining about a Cowboys loss right now. Of all the things to complain about at least that's not one of them. :toast:

Was there discussion about QL butchering the national anthem last night? Even Romo had a "what the hell is this face" going on. He put his helmet on a walked away before she finished.

I cannot STAND when these "artists" put their own "Flare" on the National Anthem. If you aren't talented enough to sing it the way it's SUPPOSED to be sung (sang?) then **** and let a real singer do it.

Yeah I guess, but it'd be nice for once to go on CZ and just see everyone being happy about a HUGE win.

U might want to check the Queen L history.....she is from North Jersey....she never claimed to be a thug, has always been part of the positivity moment in hip hop. The year before she got pulled over and charged with a firearm she had experienced car jackings and had several of her family members and friends shot in Jersey.

CHECK YOUR STATS AND FACTS WHEN YOU COME LIKE THAT LOL

so anybody who lives in a rough part of town should carry illicit firearms? I see, I get it now. that should work in front of a judge.

Is there really a 6-page thread about the National Anthem? The off-season is over guys. Move along.

Everyone's happy about the win but there's always going to be something that irks someone. You have several complaining about Marshall Faulk not liking the Cowboys what else's new.

This isn't the first or the last thread we'll see on the National Anthem. At least they picked someone who has a nice voice to sing it. I have a bigger issue with someone who can't sing trying to perform it.
