San Fran is very cool in many, many ways but it has horrid traffic flow. I mean worse than LA.
Moving there will require some infrastructure changes. --likely already under way.
If SF had decent traffic flow (pedestrian and vehicle) it might become my favorite US city.
Well, San Diego probably keeps that spot but that's largely due to weather.
I'd never pay to live in either when Texas has such great land values but man I love visiting those places.

Love San Fran/ Bay Area...
Love San Diego...love driving there from LA....& they have the best burritos

yea, the traffic is bad and not many back-streets to bypass that. The traffic coming and going over the bridges were terrible.

I lived in LA too and found many shortcuts through there, just stay off the freeways.

yea, traffic is really bad here in north dallas as well.
you can find work arounds usually for commuting but just not to things like games.
for games you just need easy access.

access to the stadium in oakland was good, even if traffic around there was always terrible.

i almost cried once driving in traffic from sf to modesto... lol.
it was soooo miserable, about like prison without the 3 means a day.

One thing is for sure, if I am going to be stuck in traffic, rather it be in Cali than the boring landscape of Texas :D

landscape doesn't matter when all you can see our cars.
and a lot of cali is realllllly ugly. that drive over the mountains to modesto was painful but it was beautiful up and down the coast obviously.

i reallly, reallly love san diego.

Not the parts I lived in. Modesto is a tough drive though once ya get past Tracy. SD is great, haven't lived there......yet!

I used to just drive from Pacifica to Santa Cruz three times a week and stopping in Half-Moon Bay for lunch. ///that never got old.

What a joke... Spurs starts fouling D. Jordan in the second quarter.....
its not basketball, and its not fun to watch.... NBA has to do something about off the ball fouling outside of the action....
i'm sure that's not the product they want to sell.

Edit: and yes i know it's legal, and a strategy... but its circumvention of the actual rules...
the fans do not pay to see this... so i don't care who tries to defend it... its not basketball.
I will not debate it, I said my peace... This series is a good series, that could be an excellent one...

well since the Spurs have been doing this for years, and are guaranteed to do it, then the fans most certainly are paying to see this. They have to be naïve or stupid to not know Pop will try this with such subpar FT shooters like Jordan, Davis, Howard, Smith, Shaq, etc.

basketball is about exploiting matchups and weaknesses. It annoys me to, but I am ok with it, mainly cause it frustrates other teams and other fan bases.

BTW, there is one way to beat the strategy, make the FTs.

Drayman Green, someone will be paying him next year as well. Excellent fourth quarter defense last night.

Green is a guy I saw in college and knew could play in this league.
He is a great study for staying in school and building your body plus your bball IQ.

Undersized but strong and quick with outstanding bball IQ.

One of my favorite players to watch.

I'd love for the Mavs to end up with him.
He is a winning piece.

When's the last time the Mavs drafted and developed a guy other than Dirk?

Josh Howard would be the last guy.

Draymond Green didn't need developing and he wasn't a high pick.
Teams drafting these kids that need 5 years to develop are the issue, not the Mavs. As the Mavs long run of 50 win season attests.

But it would have been very possible to draft and play Green.
He could have played right away for anyone int he league because he has all the Iq int he world and great tools.

The Mavs were winning last night in the 4th quarter but had no answer to the AAU pairing of Josh at PG tossing it in to Howard.
That was just old-fashioned size dominating, not youth or speed.
The Rockets hardly look young, though when Brewer is on the floor they do look very fast.

We'll see how things look in Dallas, the series is along ways from over.

I was at the game last night. @WoodysGirl may not like him, but Houston loves Howard. I'm pretty sure Stoudmire/Dirk and even Chandler will have PTSD for what he was doing to them in the paint.

From my perspective, I saw the following:
  1. Monta Ellis is the only person who seems capable of creating his own shot. Everyone else who got the ball appeared like they were looking to pass it to someone else, specifically
  2. Dirk. Dirk just looked like he wanted to create picks and get some rebounds. I saw nothing else in his game that was impressive. It was really sad.
  3. Barea struggled pretty bad - he was actually solid enough on defense but they shut down the point, especially with Barea.
  4. I think the team as a whole did not play well together - the pick and roll game is just off and they can't seem to create opportunities. Defensively they get very confused.
  5. Maybe I'm influenced by the crowd, but I felt like the Mavs were kept in the game by the refs for a while. It evened out in the third and fourth a little though. But that's when the score went high.
  6. Stoudmire basically pulled himself out of the game. Not a bad idea after Howard abuses you for like 3 straight dunks.
  7. Mavs have to shoot better - even when they did have a clear shot, they just couldn't sink anything.

I'm not a huge basketball guy so I may be off base. I know the mavs kept it close most of the game, but I never felt like they were in control. It was almost like Houston was toying with them and then went for the kill. I personally think the series is lost - I can't see this Dallas team improving to playoff form. They just don't seem mentally ready for it. Maybe not physically.

I didn't turn on the game until mid-3rd quarter...catching up on DVR shows. But my dad said the same thing. I was like, "Dad, there's only a 7pt diff in the game. That can be made up with a cpl of threes." Then the Mavs proved me right and took the lead for all of 10 secs, but still, I didn't think the game was over until the 4th qtr.

And yes, I'm no fan of Dwight Howard's game. Don't like guys who can't move further than 3ft from the basket and can't create their own shot. I was spoiled by Olajuwon. Sue me. *shrug*

Yeah I get the feeling that if we had some more competence elsewhere on defense Howard could be neutralized. I think Chandler can handle him OK, but we can't handle the point/Harden, Chandler has to help, Howard gets a chance.
