NBA 2015 Season Talk

obviously its going to be some changes in the rule... they can't ban all off the ball fouls.

lol

I said intentional off the ball fouls......not the unintentional ones......and it is pretty obvious when you are intentionally fouling someone.

my "lol" was not at your comment on off the ball fouls.... it was for the words you spewed that I placed in bold...lol....

besides teams foul late in the quarter when they have fouls to give... so it will be interesting to see what they come up with.

they foul the player with the ball

If you can't make free throws you shouldn't be in the game. I never understood how someone could not make free throws, that's embarrassing. Keep the rule, I don't want these bad free throw shooters off the hook.

Happy 39th Birthday Tim Duncan!

Not sure where I was that I missed that Vince Carter was in Memphis now.

It was so nice to see the Spurs follow up that game 3 awesomeness with a giant festering turd of a performance. poor defense, poor free throw shooting, several missed shots within 3 ft of the rim, poor rebounding, and passing up wide open shots that turned into turnovers or poor shots later in the possession (Diaw was the main culprit here).

Well now on to game 5.......I feel the Spurs will be ready.....but they need Green to find his shot again. They need Boris to shoot when he is open. They need to play Baynes more.

Go Spurs Go.

Charlie V sighting...
Aminu & Barea have been playing with great energy.... great boost.
here's to a game 5 & more basketball.

That, and the Rockets missing a ridiculous 17 in a row in the 2-3rd qtrs. :( Kudos to Dallas for outworking Houston all night, but my boys never really gave themselves a chance.

No matter. On to game 5.

I'm sorry, I can't hear you over the sound of Harden's awesomeness.

42 points on 15 - 24 shooting (including 5 - 7 from 3 pt range), 7 - 7 from the line, 9 assists and 5 boards.

And Jason Terry exploded against the Heat in the NBA Finals when he was with the Mavericks... How does that change the point?

1-7 last night from 3 point land, 24 points... pretty much on par with his first two games, when he clearly wasn't the best player on the floor yet again, as usual, in the play-offs... An impressive 3 points in the fourth, with one from a technical free throw...

He's essentially like Carmelo Anthony...

The Beard didn't have a great night by his standards. The fact remains that thru four games Harden is the series leader in points (46% fg, 35% 3pt) and assists and has shot 44-46 from the line.

"clearly wasn't the best player on the floor yet again" ...

Was at the game yesterday - great energy from the crowd. Despite Kawhi's ending stat line, they went away from him early, which I don't get. He had 8 of their first 10, and then they just went away from him. He was drawing a lot of double and triple teams, which gave a lot of guys some WIDE open shots that they need to knock down. Paul and Griffin blowing up isn't the problem. It's Redick and guys like Crawford or Austin Frickin Rivers going for 15+ that's going to kill them. Even so, I'm not worried, yet. HCA doesn't mean anything to these teams. Both can win handily on the road or at home. I still like SA in 7.

Stats can be deceiving, especially when your a ball hog.. It was the third game that actually skewed the numbers to a higher percentage, making him appear better than normal. Last night, was typical Harden come play-off time.

Against Miami when he was with OKC, he was the biggest choke of them all. Last year, they actually started relying on Jeremy Lin come play-off game. And they were woefully inefficient two games ago when he was on the floor, and Josh Smith and Dwight Howard essentially saved the day.

Like I said, Carmelo's stats normally are great regular season, but when you watch him at work, just like Harden, nobody moves on offense. It works plenty in the regular season, because the defense isn't as intense. As soon as play-offs comes around, and you got your best defender on him consistently, night in and night out, he starts bricking.

Houston will still win this series and going in, I said that Dallas was the only team that they could beat. They will lose in the 2nd round no matter who they play. You can not rely on nothing but 3's and FT's which they suck at. Their defense is sub-par too.

Harden also leads the series in turnovers and shots taken.

You've probably got to consider him the series' best player (and regular season wise it wouldn't be close) but it hasn't been by the margin you'd expect of a serious MVP candidate.

The scoring looks great but he had only one game where he shot above 25% from the 3pt line. And that was the only game he hit more than one 3 point shot.
He was absolutely MVP worthy in game 3 but he has been pretty much just solid the other 3 games.

Outside of game 3 it has been free throws that propped up his overall totals to even starting caliber.

He is only +10 on the series.

From a Dallas stand point Josh Smith is key. Take him out of the game mentally and Dallas wins. While DH and Harden may both be better players they are macth ups Dallas can figure out unless Smith is also performing at a high level.

Dallas has two defenders: Chander and Aminu. They don't have a 3rd. And Smith gets Howard so many easy baskets.

Teams up 3-0 are like 112-0 so yea the Rockets just have to play it out.

The Rox have to keep DH and Smith from having mental meltdowns. If they do that they will win the series in 5 then rest up and have a very good shot of beating whomever comes next. While the Spurs and Clips are both very good teams, they will likely be beaten up and tired and be playing on the road. --I suspect it will be the Clips in 7 winning with the newly regained home court.

Two home games for a rested Rockets is a pretty big advantage versus comparable teams.

GS/MEM may be the most intriguing series. So much "opposite forces colliding"!
