I've always been impressed with the Pelicans. I think they have the talent to surprise people this year. Anthony Davis is officially a superstar. And they're finally healthy. They have one of the most loaded starting lineups in the league and possible the 6th man of the year. Watch out for these guys. They just beat Minnesota by 48.

C Omer Asik
PF Anthony Davis
SF Tyreke Evans
SG Eric Gordon
PG Jrue Holliday

Bench
Ryan Anderson
Austin Rivers

the first guy in bold is overpaid, the second guy in bold been going only to his right since hs!!!!
I do like their team however:D

They are young and that will probably weight them down but they are coming, that's for sure.
They are probably a minor piece or two away from regular playoff appearances and being a tough out for anyone.

I knew Anthony Davis was going to be good, but I didn't think he'd be THIS good THIS quickly. I thought he'd be more of a defensive dominant player - a la Tyson Chandler, but better.

yea, anyone who saw his jump shot coming along to this pace would have made a lot of money.
the defense and rebounding were always there.

he is the best center in basketball right now imho.
much better offensive player than dwight, much more athletic than noah and a far better shooter than chandler.

He plays more 4 than 5... which makes sense, keeps him from taking a beating, and allows him to be weakside help...
Asik, Anjica, and Withey been playing the majority of the minutes at the five... although in smaller lineups, you do see AD & Ryan Anderson together, and they are interchangeable at the 5.

Watch out for Anderson for 6th man of the year. And watch out for Austin Rivers to make Eric Gordon expendable. I had high hopes for Gordon after he broke out in LA but he hasn't been the same for like 5 years.

I agree on Anderson... Jury still out on Rivers for me... Even though EG isn't making his shots at a desired clip, he keeps the floor spaced because he's a threat... Austin is best with the ball in his hands, not much of a spot up.... and oh yeah, he's going right!!!;)

AD is trouble facing his defender, he will beat you off the dribble with his quickness for a floater or hook, or jab step you and shoot the feathery jumper.... kid is a beast...... (not to mention he has good vision from the high post)

I've known AD was gonna be the best player in the NBA. But I was expecting more like in 2-3 years. I think he's making his case right now.

He's not the best overall yet but he is heading that direction for sure.

He had 31 and 15 with 3 blocks versus the Mavs but he wasn't very efficient and the Pelicans couldn't keep pace with the Mavs.
Dallas minimized his defensive effect and scored like 110.

He has to sustain his game for a long time to be considered the best but I don't see any challengers his age.

Oh snap. Just saw that the Dallas Mavs are in town tonight to play Washington. I might go! The Verizon Center is just a 15 minute walk from where I work in DC, right alongside the National Mall (by the Smithsonian Castle). And I was originally planning to go see the new "Interstellar" in IMAX right down the street tonight at the Smithsonian Air&Space Museum.

Decisions, decisions...

Spurs beat the Cleveland Lebrons......it was a good game.

btw, I would like to add a point to the discussion we had in the NBA Free Agent thread a while back. There was a nice discussion about the best teams in league history. I have one more stat that puts the Spurs at #3, ahead of the Bulls. The Spurs are the only team in the NBA, and only one of two teams in the 4 major sports (Yankees), to have a .500 or better winning % against every other team in the league.

That was a good and entertaining game.
In the end JJ Barea was a match up problem for Washington.

John Wall is a really good guard but folks talking about him being the best are doing so because he plays so many games versus the East.

I really like the mix on this Mavs team with Barea and Chandler back.
They need Harris or Felton to play tho so Jameer Nelson can be released.

Wiz have a nice young team but east ball is so bad.

I thought it was talent for a while but now I am convinced it is coaching.
If Carlisle had the Washington talent he would lose like 20 games this year.

Dallas dictated match ups and pace all night versus a more dangerous and athletic team.

The Knicks are breaking NYC's heart and largely because they are terrible in an era where the East is begging to be won.
The Knicks and Nets have proven that you shouldn't go over the cap UNTIL you have it figured out.

Rox knock off the Mavs 95-92 despite not having the services of Dwight Howard or Terence Jones.
