Blazers make it 9 in a row. Nice little streak for the beginning of the season.

KD comes back tonight, but in the West that's a pretty tough race to claw back into. They'll ultimately be fine, but 5-12 is a definite mountain to climb. The two seed in the East would be the 8th seed in the West. They should just start doing Top16 make it in.

A wild one going on in Chicago.
Mavs lead the Bulls in 2nd OT after Derrick Rose banked in 3pointer to send it there.

4 Mavs are over 20.

Mavs look tired tonight

Yeah. A double OT win on the road followed immediately by another road game the next night.
Pretty impressed that they ended up winning that one too tonight.
They swept their road trip at 4-0 and it included two division leaders.
Not bad.

Oh yeah. The game winner with no time left will be a sports enter highlight fo-sho.

And since we don't have a College BBall thread...
Okafur (duke) footwork is awesome...
Gtown has a couple of young forwards in Paul White and Issac Copeland
Myles Turner from Texas has tremendous upside
Kentucy Has 10, possibly 11 NBA players... second unit is better than the first! Dakari Johnson, is the least heralded, but knows how to play.
Roy Williams is on thin Ice
Marquette's recruiting class for 15-16 is really, really good....

Emmanuel Mudiay may be done in China.... Protecting his draft stock?
http://sports.yahoo.com/news/sources--emmanuel-mudiay-s-future-in-china-unclear-043423006.html

This may put a bit of a hitch in HS ballers getting big money overseas.......

No, brother, just the opposite.

Mudiay, 18, has played 10 games in China, averaging 17.7 points, six rebounds and six assists. NBA executives who've watched him told Yahoo Sports he's only enhanced his draft value with his performances in China so far.

It is possible that Guangdong could release Mudiay and pay him the balance of his contract, or hold onto the teenager and watch how Bynum impacts the team until Mudiay's ankle allows him to return to the lineup. Eventually, Guangdong could make a decision on which guard to keep – and release the other. Nevertheless, it would be an immense investment to bring Bynum over on a guaranteed $1 million-plus agreement – only to use him for one or two weeks.

Mudiay's injury is only a short-term hurdle for the team, but Guangdong, a perennial Chinese power, has dropped into fourth place and has been anxious to get his production back on the floor. Guangdong has won three out of four games without Mudiay.

Mudiay has to protect his draft value, and his representatives will be exceedingly careful to make sure he doesn't risk further injury or poor performance in China. If released, Mudiay could simply return to the United States and train in preparation to begin predraft workouts with NBA teams prior to the June draft.

I said a "bit"... only because the larger teams (especially A & B Class in Europe) may hold off a bit on paying big money to young guys who have no desire to develop (Brandon Jennings)... that being said it is an advertisement for a league like the CBA, so who knows, more risk may be taken, I could be wrong..

It's win-win for the player and that is what matters because there are a lot of teams that would be interested.
Mudiay has upped his stock (nearly impossible to do as such a high value pick), been paid 1.2 million guaranteed and has zero class/school responsibilities.

Foreign teams would LOVE to say they had a future NBA top 5 pick play for them.
Can you imagine if these guys had one season of Jordan or Kobe or LeBron?
Not only would it help those teams make a killing but it would open up international markets big time to those players.
Deron Williams is still super beloved in Turkey (and goes back to visit as often as he can) for his lockout stint playing there.

IMHO we'll see a lot more of this. And that's a good thing. Opens up more spots on college rosters for kids that play high level ball but may not quite have NBA athleticism.
Lots of really good high schoolers who could develop over 4 years in college ball.

I think that statement depends on the prestige of the team.. If you're trying to win, and somebody comes in who isn't fully dedicated, in and out of the line up for his own protection... It could cost you a title..... Bball in the class A& B European leagues are serious, and the money is serious.... Not to mention they have top picks on their clubs regularly.... Heck, Mario Hezonja, who plays for one of Barcelona's top teams will be a top 5 or 10 pick this year...

edit... I hope Hezonja ends up in philly, him Saric, Embiid.... nice upgrade...

They do not have top 5 picks regularly.
They have some really rare size guys that are usually very developmental.
Europe produces a fair amount of overall talent now but it is seldom elite and seldom has the flair of American players.
Basically every decent team in every decent European league will have their full allotment of American players.

The best ever European player is Dirk. He is a huge advertising machine in Germany.
Any elite young American who played overseas for a year would have a fair amount of those types of opportunities.

Again, I am sure we will see it fairly regularly.
It's rather pointless to go to college for a year for potential top 5 guys when the alternative is 1 million dollars in salary plus pro coaching and 24x7 basketball.

Hezonya averages 11 mins per game and like 4 points for Barcelona.
He's a good prospect on the come but very raw. He won;t help Philly win anytime soon so is exactly the kind of guy they don't need.
That poor team is all potential but nothing right now.
They'll probably end up with Okafor or Mudiay actually.
Mudiay was the best player for his team by far and dominated U19s versus anyone and everyone in the world.
He'd drop 50 on Hezonya.

The Americans will realize the more they do for their overseas teams the better they will be able to market themselves there.
While they won't risk serious injury they also won't loaf if they have a decent mgmt team.

I feel sorry for New Yorkers.
The Knicks are a straight dumpster fire.
Not sure why they didn't let Carmelo walk and just rebuild from scratch with a very high pick and substantial cap space.

Ridiculous game between SA and Memphis. Clutch shot after clutch shot. Grizz look really good this season. Spurs were clearly gassed at the end of the 3rd OT and Manu just made some Manu plays (the boneheaded ones). The West is stupid tough this season.
