I suspect that LA beliefs they have a deal for a Big man in place. I have no proof of this but I do not see them passing on a Center unless they know they have something in FA. You could be right about the Curry angle but honestly, Kupchak is not stupid and I think that he probably knows that Russell is not Curry. I really Russell but Curry is another animal. I think it might be as simple as just getting ready for life after Kobe or, a trade option that is contingent upon Clarkson perhaps? I really hope that the Lakers are not stupid enough to believe that Russell is Curry 2.0 because he is not.

sounds like they may have a real shot at LMA but that is just rumor mill stuff.
LMA is probably more likely to end up in HOU or SAS.

Kupchak made it sound like he really didn't know what free agency holds but they are definitely targeting big men there.

DAJ is already in HOU and spent last night at the club with Chandler Parsons. DAL is meeting with him at his HOU home the night free agency opens.
And his agent is basically our asst GM.

Marc Gasol is intriguing but can;t see him choosing LA. Maybe MIL or SAS tho staying in MEM seems REALLY likely.

Love: Too many reasons for him to stay in CLE. Money, winning chief amongst them.

All of this makes sense but they took no Centers at all. Not even in the later rounds. I gotta believe that they know something. I guess we'll see.

Lakers: I think their best option may be Lopez(who makes sense and played at Stanford) and a resigned Jordan Hill.
It will be interesting to see how they want to play it.
This would be a year to offer a few players big 1 year deals.
Having cash next year is probably more important than anything else.
23mil won't turn around a franchise worst 21 win team.

DAL: I have a suspicion they are very confident on DeAndre Jordan.
Add Danny Green and a cheap vet PG option like Mo Williams and they are probably done beyond re-signings and vet min guys.

SAS: The team most capable of emerging as title favorites. Think LMA is in play there big time. Guy is 30 and wants to win now.
Needs to win really for his legacy.
If Duncan and Ginobli are really coming back for peanuts that team deserves all the success they can reap next year.

HOU: They seem to want to chase one big-time player as well. Not sure that's smart considering how much they could accomplish with some quality depth.
I'd definitely want to see Brewer and Josh Smith back were I a Rockets fan. Beverly too.
I'd probably re-sign basically everyone then look to use the MLE on a top 8 rotational guy(another ball handler would be ideal).
They've got to mesh Harden's high flying high risk, high reward offense with the D12 half court game. --or move one of them.

CLE: Lots of talk of LeBron leveraging them but reality is he was the asst GM the day he signed. He doesn't need any leverage.
He'll sign last because he they don;t nee dot worry about him and his money doesn't effect their cap status.
They are going to need to resign everyone basically and then use the MLE as well as look to make trades in season again.
There will probably be a couple more old guys jump aboard the good ship LeBron in a title chase.

Doubtful. The only person reporting that is an LA reporter. Aldridge is 30. Going to a team with an aging, injured star and essentially two rookies (counting Randle as one) is not a recipe for success.

It could make more sense if they traded for Cousins but what the Kings want for him is a ton. Randle, Russell plus picks and filler.

Rondo, Clarkson, Kobe, LMA, Cousins is a BIG-time upgrade... but not sure I buy them as more than a 6 seed in the West because that's not a very good defensive team at all. And that takes them out of any big-time FA next year.

As to the brand stuff... not sure I buy that either. You lose D12 and Gasol in back to back years with zero replacements and any brand thoughts evaporate.
LAL has max cap dollars so can visit with anyone they like but the media is going to stroke Laker fans for page hits well beyond any reasoning.
They basically had the worst off-season of anyone two years in a row.

It is very interesting that the Lakers are staying in the media. I wonder if this is real at all or just talk to keep the name out there.
They could very well be planning on another down season with an eye to 2016 max cap for two studs.

Spurs exploring a trade with the Cavs of (probably) Splitter and Mills for B. Haywood's 10.5M non-guaranteed deal. That would let them potentially get LMA and Danny Green. That would be HUGE, if they can get both.

The Lakers have the name brand, cap space and market to not stay down for long. If I were them, I'd do exactly what you said. Take another down year, and throw money at studs in 2016. Kobe is off the books, two stud rookies and a max (or two) player. LMA and Cousins aren't guys I'd feel comfortable maxing out if I were in a rebuild. I like Aldridge as a piece for where the Spurs or Mavs are, but not the Lakers.

30mil 4 years for Al-Farouq Aminu in Portland...
Lilliard is on the board for 120mil extension.
Vonleh, Plumlee, Aminu, Henderson,CJ McCullum, Lillard seems to be the new look Blazers.

I like the deal for Dragic.

Maybe because the Heat have not had a legit point guard in forever, but I'm glad they didn't lose him after giving the Suns two first rounders.

I think he's a bit overpaid.. but on the market what are you gonna do... pay him or lose him. He's more valuable to them.

Rumors flying around that the Lakers are trying to put together a deal to sign both Aldridge and Jordan. I have no idea how that might happen because the Cap numbers don't seem to work here but it's possible that the deal is contingent upon future salary commitments next year. That would be really interesting if true.

I'm hoping the Mavs swing and miss on Jordan. He simply does not pass the eye test as being better than Chandler to me, despite his inflated rebounding numbers. Throw in the fact that he's arguably the worst free throw shooter in the league and it's not worth the premium. I'm actually somewhat mystified by the Mavs obsession with him.

I feel bad for Chandler. The guy is almost everything you want on and off the court, yet Dallas may let him go a second time. He really likes it here too.

Toronto give DeMarre Carroll 60mil over 4 years. Good for him after being a "bust" 1st rounder, fighting back to find a role in this league.
Pricey, but he very much helps him.
