Imo, the Front Office is gambling with this season's potential at this point. We let Murray walk to afford Dez. They chose Dez over Murray and bolstered the Defense. Now, the fans are going to flip if the team's bedrock of respect- the catalyst for the return to prominence- is not on the field.

Dez is a uniquely gifted and talented warrior who deserves his pay day. If it's Megatron $, so be it. He must play. I'd jettison any three Dallas Cowboys not named Romo tomorrow: to ensure his roster spot for 4 more years. He's that valuable.

No none qb is that valuable. Signing "talented warriors" who have eared their pay day at any cost is what gets teams into cap hell to begin with. If Romo doesn't retire and dez gets megatron money you will see a lot of talent leaving Dallas in the next 3 years. Bye bye Crawford, Tfred, etc.

Yup, which is the reason why this team hasn't won anything in 20 years. Jerry overpaying players haven't gotten this team anywhere.

Yeah you just don't see teams with top WR's winning Super Bowls. It's way more important to have a solid team then one special WR. QB is the only position worth paying top dollar for and then perhaps CB. Sherman and Revis have both won. Pass rusher may be wroth it too. But WR really isn't.

That's too simplistic. "Top WR's don't win Super Bowls". Please tell me how a team with a potential HOF WR is somehow hindered by their presence. Also: have the Lions really regressed since Megatron got signed for too much money? This team is a Super Bowl contender with the haul from the draft and smart FA signings, and I was supportive of the team' decision to let DeMarco walk- provided Dez Bryant was on the team.

No Dez, No Murray and this team is probably competitive but nowhere near a Lombardi.

The time is now. Let's get this done and take our chances down the road. The front office has proven it can build a team that can compete with lesser talent. Why not take advantage of Romo and Dez while we can? Once Romo is gone it's rebuild time anyway. Who won't we be able to afford on our roster that is irreplaceable in the future to the point of letting a top 10 player in the NFL potentially walk or sit out?

It was never a problem when it was DAL, PITT, SF, WAS and other teams thru the 70s, 80s and 90s.

Just a fluke of circumstances lately.

It's the salary cap. No doubt the offense is better with Dez or any of the top 10 WR's in the league. But only Jordy Nelson who plays with the best QB in the league has a ring in that list.

Pay QBs, CB's and pass rushers. Better to have a complete team then overpay at WR.

It can't be the salary cap. A lot of the SB winners the last 15 years have been with low cost QBs- Brady, Flacco, Wilson, Big Ben.

It is just a fluke. Fitz was one play away and so was Randy Moss. Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne aren't chumps. Same with Jordy Nelson and Greg Jennings. The Rams had the Warner Bros.

Small Sample Size.

Its football... We have more danger every day driving to work.

These boys aren't forced at gunpoint to throw a football around... You dont like the contact finish school and get a job and be a productive member of society like the rest of us

Were in more danger driving to work than having health issues like concussions that plague NFL players. Lol OK.

You guys are just mad he hasn't signed but Dez is right here. He's earned his big contract, I'd hold out too if I were him

Ahh. Yeah that does make sense now. I personally don't think it would be worth holding out for, but then again I'm not Dez.

If I know that I'm a world-class receiver at 26, I know that I'm going to get a huge contract in at most 2 years as long as I continue to do what I do. I understand the security issue, but that's what insurance is for -- I see others saying that he can get a $10+ million policy for decent rates, so I would think that covers the security issue...

Pure speculation on my part...But what if there is a reason he can't get insured? Back issues or background checks that we might not know about? Has any other players used the insurance in the past with the franchise tag? I wonder what the process is?

Speculation again, if the FO knows this, then I wouldn't blame them for staying pat.

They can get insurance but it is expensive and will never pay what he could have made on a contract. Andrew Luck took out insurance because he is playing for only 1.5 mil this year.

This is his leverage.

He can hold out a couple games, and say the offense completely sputters and we wind up 0-2 or 0-3. Now he has Jones panicking and willing to negotiate a one year deal, say 14.5 for the year. This would make up what he missed for those few games.

Dez knows exactly what he's doing.

One thing Dez has to think about is what would happen if he didn't play for 10 games and didn't get paid then has a injury that keeps him out a long time.He missed the money and now will not get the contract he wanted.

I think he will miss camp and the preseason then show up for the regular season.

I do not see Jerry offering such a contract that would allow Dez to walk like Hardy will walk after this year.

Let Dez sit and go on with our preparation. We all agreed on the CBA.
Dez is that one player who can withhold his services and the club
should hold their ground.

Everybody admires NE Patriots for their management and continuity.
Well this type of problem comes with good management.
