He will still get his catches, of course. He will also get a few TD's in the Redzone because of a guy named Dez. A lot of this is Romo just forcing him the ball, like he does on 3rd and long.

Great game plan, throw it to the slowest guy on 3rd and long

He has to read the defense and adjust his route to run the tree just like all the other receivers

Exactly...

3 yards on 3rd and long, and then getting piggy backed 3 more yards back, is not cutting it.

I'm sure he's a good coach but I can't really think of any standout TE, or core of TE's, for them.

Mike Pope is one of the best TE coaches in the league. He has been for 30 years. The Giants loss is definitely the Cowboys gain.

He needs it, those 3 yard out routes on 3rd and 8 have to stop, and he needs to run his routes when doing those more precise. Yeah Romo shouldn't even be throwing to that dumb *** route, but with him running it so sloppy it always almost get's picked off or gets him clocked

Dude, what are you talking about. That's our signature play. That's like taking away sweet chin music away from HBK, the stone cold stunner from Steve Austin and the people's elbow from the Rock.:p

Ah yes, I forgot, Lord Witten can do no wrong.

I did not say he runs sloppy routes. You all are just so quick to Defend the Witten, your Lord. I said he runs the out Route real sloppy, just runs up and turns real quick, yeah, he's really fooling the defense. Tell me, how many first downs, while doing that route for 3 yards, on 3rd and long has he picked up for us.

I might be blind, but on 3rd and long, when he does this, he is either hit immediately and rode out of bounds, the ball is thrown at his feet because there is a defender right there, or a guy flashes right in front for the near int.

Witten has lost a step, lets not pretend he is still this great TE that no one can guard. He's a cowboy, cool, but lets not act blind.

How many interceptions did Witten contribute to last season on these sloppy out routes?

Not to rag on Witten but I do feel his game has slipped slightly. He still puts up great numbers but I think there is room for him to tighten it back up a bit. Hopefully this leads to even better play on his part.

He's getting old and I often wonder if he's trying to avoid unnecessary punishment.

I'm reasonably certain Witten would be the first to admit there's always room for improvement -- even for a sure future HOF'er.

If Coach Pope tells him anything to better him as a player that nobody else has, he's done him a favor. He's just doing his job.

For an earlier post, I don't think Witten runs sloppy routes, he runs the routes that are called for. He has no RAC, most of the time, but he's not the reason we're 8-8. Although just like Ware, he's been here as long as Romo and company and those 2 are the only ones left, yet 1 playoff victory. So.......

To be fair, Witten has won just as many playoff games as Tony Gonzalez.

How many Hall of Fame tight ends have been a part of a Superbowl winning team? Off the top of my head I can only think of Shannon Sharpe, Dave Casper and John Mackey. Mike Ditka was part of a NFL championship before the Superbowl years.

Seems like all Frozen stated was that the 'out route' was run sloppy, not all of Witten's routes in general.

Sometimes I wonder if certain fans are on the payroll of some of these guys. The immediate reaction to superman some of these players is somewhat frightening.

How many first downs?

That isn't an answer to your ridiculous claims. Your just spouting nonsense. There is nothing wrong with criticism of any player including Witten. I haven't seen much actual criticism. Just a bunch of garbage.

You see garbage because he is above it in your opinion. You can't face the facts he is on decline, lost a step, and his 3 yard out routes on third downs kill us.

There are obviously a few people who agree with my original post, guess they have a garbage mindset on Witten as well? You just love Witten and will defend him and anything this team does.

He's not the same, get over it
