Next Week Will Be A Huge Measuring Stick

I don't think anyone on here will say that if the Cowboys win. The only way that would happen is if Brees gets hurt during the game.

They wouldn't. Virtually every fan here would be both happy and shocked with a win. But, as last week, some fans want to paint things as a 'can't win' scenario as if its some form of excuse.

Terrible match up problems for Dallas, they screen well (Pierre Thomas is awesome on the screen) they hit big plays, (even without busts) and have short, middle and deep pass play threats, Dallas has to get turnovers and score often, one way or the other, not exactly breaking news here

The point is you said Graham will kill us because we have struggled with other TEs. There is zero merit to that argument.

OK.

I guess.

Except TE's have killed us.

Graham is a TE.

He's likely going to kill us as well.

In fact I'm pretty certain he will.

I guess you've got more faith that he won't simply because you put Carr or Mo on him that it will make a huge difference. I simply don't agree with that. I think Graham will eat both them up as well.

If they win, it's a good win against a team with offensive talent that many predicted for the playoffs or even Super Bowl.

It would be a good win if it happened, regardless of the Saints' current record.

But let's not try to minimize when it doesn't happen and we again prove only capable of beating bad teams.

I get a kick out of people already trying to make it a no-win situation to temper disappointment when they don't win a game they've proven they cant win.

who said anything about it being a no win situation, when a team steps out on the field it is to win, you lose that is a failure if you win it is a success. I expect the Cowboys to go out and play hard and win this game. Will they? I don't know they will have to play well to do so and yes I think they are capable of doing just that. On the other hand having people claim there is no way we can win? what is so if it happens it mask disappointment, after all if you don't expect them to win and they don't you have nothing to be upset about.

Its no measuring stick IMO. It means nothing if they lose. If they lose next week than go on a 10 game winning streak does the game matter? Aint's are 1-2....we BELIEVE they are underachieving. They still have Drew Brees and a solid offense. Its going to be a test but if we lose its just another loss.

way to set the bar low
I don't know if you realize that in the 3+ years with garrett as HC we have NEVER won 3 games in a row

yeah, this team "could" go on a 10 game winning streak:rolleyes:

New Orleans has just the type of offense to give our defense fits. I'm reluctant to look upon this game as a measuring stick since we're defensively quite ill-suited to keep their offense within a reachable score for our offense to match. I think we had our measuring stick the last two weeks and we fared well against our equals. Assuming we do well enough to win vs. Brees and New Orleans, we'll most assuredly qualify as over-achievers.

This is why it has meaning:

Dallas vs 9ers - projection Loss - results Loss
Dallas at Titans - projection Win - results Win
Dallas at Rams - projection Win - results Win
Dallas vs New Orleans - projection Loss
Dallas vs Houston - projection Win
Dallas at Seahawks - projection Loss
Dallas vs Giants - projection Win
Dallas vs Commanders - projection Loss
Dallas vs Arizona - Projection Loss
Dallas vs Jaguars - projection Win
Dallas at Giants - projection Loss
Dallas vs Eagles - projection Loss
Dallas at Bears - projection Loss
Dallas at Eagles - projection Loss
Dallas vs Colts - projection Loss
Dallas at Commanders - projection Loss

I made this prediction in late August. I am right on the money so far. Without a major injury to the team I have down as losses, this Will be how this season falls. Clever offense or not. Dallas will be 4-3 after hosting the Giants. After the Commanders game in Dallas the next week, they will not have a winning percentage again this season.

This defense cannot stay up with the meat eaters on this schedule. This offense cannot generate enough firepower to keep up with the leaky boat defense like last year. Because it is predicated on the running game - and I loves me some running game - to control the clock and time of possession.

But this defense will be Swiss cheese against good offenses.

And the real crying shame is this.

5-11 will get you about the 10th o0r 11th pick in this draft, and too far away from some playmakers - defensive or Marcus Mariota.

I like Romo, but taking the next franchise quarterback would be something I would invest in if possible.

They can beat the Saints. People have last year's debacle fresh in there mind, except the fact they forget they started that game depleted on defense, Lee went out after the second drive, Durant before the half, Ware was playing with one arm, Hatch didn't play at all....it was a total disaster from a personnel standpoint.

None of those guys are playing this year either. Plus Melton and McClain are iffy, and I would rather have a one armed Ware than any DE currently on our active roster.

Throw in our matchup problems and the fact that Payton has always had our number since he took over in NO and honestly I think this could be the toughest game on the schedule outside of Seattle, and that's taking into account the Saints definitely look like they have take a step back this year, especially on D.

I think the only thing we have going for us is if we can keep their O off the field with the running game.

So Austin Davis is now a good quarterback? Like the Matt Flynns of the world before him?

The Dallas Cowboys, we MAKE quarterbacks (for our opponents anyway...)

He could end up being a good QB, who knows. I heard on the broadcast he trains with Farve and broke his old school records. Time will tell.

I do think Cowboys can win my statement was should Cowboys win this game many here will say NO was 1-2 lost to Cleveland so they are not a winning team. So should Dallas wins this game really proves nothing right?

I agree. I saw some good things from him heck better than what I have seen from Bradford.

Yes, but when you lose three guys on your defense in the middle of a game when you're already depleted, makes it that much tougher. Again, not saying they will stop the Saints but I just don't think it's going to be another 650 yards debacle either.

Easy Stash, we are all hoping for a win, I would hope you too. I know for myself it's nearly impossible to wish otherwise. NO is a bad match-up for us, so your right, although we did beat them a few years ago when everyone else gave us no chance.

Be cool fellow fan :)

So, just 35 first downs then? ;)

I'm not pulling anywhere.

What I'm clearly and unequivocally saying is that they won't win this game.

My fandom doesn't require me to lie to myself or to check my senses at the door.

I know that they're just not good enough.

So then you don't see any chance not even an outside chance of a win? Heck may as well not play it right? lol

I dunno, there's been a TV on the Saints game where I've been watching the games and they don't look anything like they have the last several years.

Not sure what's wrong with them, but this isn't the well-oiled machine we're used to seeing. Or even close.

I'm thinking we might make them punt this year.

You don't have to worry about me boasting to anyone. I've won each and every bet I've ever made on this site but I always take the high road and respect a fellow fan. It's never anything vicious.

It will just be a sig bet to make it interesting. Something beside each name for a few weeks or so. "Doomsday was right and I was wrong" or "Stash was right and I was wrong".

Nothing more than that. Just some form of backing up a claim beyond simple rhetoric.

That is fine, I have no issue with the bet and proudly support my boys.

So to close the book on this bet, can I suggest that it's only for a week seeing as there will be a game the following week? I'd suggest longer if the 'boys were on a bye week.
