I'm a Greg Jennings type WR fan.

Small school burner with huge production (80+catch season to their credit).

Aundrae Allison/Laurent Robinson.

WR's can be found anywhere.

More than any other position.

Hey, I like Laurent Robinson too... and he is pretty obscure, except to the more dedicated draftaholics...

Tell the truth, how many years of Kiper's draft guides do you have saved?? I'll bet Ourlads got some of your money, too... :D

QB/WR drills going on right now..

Very interesting to watch...

Troy Smith looks like a kid next to Russell

Adrian Peterson vertical 38 1/2 inch. He's a ripped guy, too.

I just get the feeling that Russell is going to be a disappointment. Can't put my finger on why, just a gut feeling.

We knew he wasn't going to run a 4.1. The fastest in recent memory was Donte Stallworth who had a 4.18 a few years back. Deion ran a 4.15 legend says.

And don't get me started on Randall Williams.
Those aren't combine times, Avery. I believe it was a 4.29 that Deion ran at the combine. He ran it once and took a bow or something. No way Stallworth ran that fast at the combine either.

Could have been Pro Day, but I do remember Stallworth running a sub 4.2

Never bought anything from Kiper or Ourlads.

Perused somebody's Ourlads at the draft a few years ago and didn't like what I saw.

Bought Frank Coyle's guide in 04/05 but then decided I do better on my own.

1 thing I do buy is that video of 20 or so prospects that has been put out the last 2 years by 4th and Goal Films.

It's actually pretty weak, but the draft is like crack to me.

I'm the obsessive/compulsive, ESPN Game Plan, record 150 games and burn them to DVD type.

Don't like relying on others for my opinion.

Russell should have worked out. IMHO it's a punk move not to work out. He should have come in prepared for this combine not "looking forward to being prepared for pro day".

That said, I still think the Raiders are all over him come draft day.

Note: Darius Walker just turned in an outrageous vertical leap. It's 40 plus inches and they noted the average vertical from last year was around 33-34 inches.

Do you feel the same way about Quinn? He didn't work out either.

For the elite players, they have a choice whether to work out. He and Quinn chose not to work out. I've got no problem with it.

I've never liked the "not choosing to work out" thing be it Quinn, Walker, or any other "elite" player who has pulled that in the past. You aren't elite IMO until you prove it at the next level.

As one of the NFL network guys pointed out, when you are at the top like Russell and Quinn are, there really is nothing to be gained by working out at the combine. At your pro day you have YOUR coaches, YOUR home field, YOUR WRs and do it YOUR way. The guys like Stanton and Smith and the rest who have more to prove- they are the ones that NEED to be at the combine.

For the level they've reached (which is college), they are considered elite. After they're drafted, they have to prove it all over again.

One point that was made by one of the players and I forget which. But he isn't working out, because he hasn't had time to prepare for the Combine. He's been doing the banquet circuit. Nabbing awards and whatnot.

The Combine is just one part of the player evaluation.

Yeah Yeah. I know... I still think something can be gained by getting in and mixing it up with the rest of the guys that are laying it on the line for all to see. If they're not going to workout they should just save a ticket and stay home to prepare for their pro days. Just my humble opinion...

At least Quinn said piss off to his agent and hit the bench press.

For them there's nothing to gain and everything to lose. To me the true elite players would mix it up anyway... ala Quinn and his 24 BP reps. Quinn could have laid on the bench and struggled to 8 reps. Instead he busted out 24 in front of everyone. Props.

Have you been a cowboys fan for long? Receiver has been about as easy as CB and OL for us to draft. There is a reason the colts have to great receivers, two first round picks.

I wouldn't group WR or CB with OL as far as our recent draft history. Not even close, IMO.

Besides Goodrich, what recent first day WR or CB draft picks have we missed on? I can't think of any. We have seen some production from some of our late round CB's and WR's. Now OL on the other hand...

What picks did we use to acquire our top 4 WR's?

Credit goes to FinMan on footballsfuture.com, but it seems the Cowboys have talked to 3 different players that are known right now.

Aaron Ross, CB, Texas
Aundrae Allison, WR, East Carolina

And the last one was a bit of a shocker to me, but it was Drew Stanton, QB, Michigan State.

With how Stanton has performed in the Seniorr Bowl and during the combine, I'm willing to guess he will be a 2nd round pick. We're interviewing a QB rising up the charts?

Nice to know we are thinking QB in the draft, but we are looking at a highly touted QB? Might as well interview Quinn and Russell while we are at it. :)

Red alert, Red alert: Do not underestimate Sidney Rice due to his 40 time. I saw him in person against Arkansas and several instances on tv. This dude dominates DBs with his size, strength, and his hands are top-notch. Trust me, he'd be a steal from #15 and up.

Brian Leonard ran a 4.49.

I like Hoyte, but I wouldn't be opposed to drafting this guy if he went in the 3rd, bulking him up and letting him play some old school FB.

What did he run?

I also read that he showed up smaller than expected.

There's a lso the experience factor...

I wouldn't be surprised if he fell out of he first at this point.
