NFL considering forcing players to cut hair?

You know...I'm old school too.

I think if an employer asks you to cut your hair...or shave your moustache...or take out the earring...then they have the right.

Now....is it petty to ask for such things?

Yes.

Maybe it's how I grew up. I went to a public school that didn't allow boys to have hair that grew past the collar of a sports shirt. Our school didn't allow boys to wear earrings. Our school didn't allow facial hair on boys.

Girls could not wear shorts shorter than 6" above the knee....and they (teachers) MEASURED.

No one complained. No one thought our rights were being violated. Our parents taught us those were the rules...and you abide by them.

Very old school. I don't totally disagree but only to an extent. The line must be drawn somewhere but I'm not sure this is the place.

I'm a bit old fashion in that I think the players should have to adhere to a 'dress code', with hair being a part of their uniform, and it needs to be kept under the helment. But I'm bald (by choice), so what do I know about hair?
Hair isn't "Part" of a "uniform". Clothing is. Hair is "Part" of your BODY.

I hate it when people say long hair, bald hair = thugs or wutever. its like judging sumthing from the outside. we all judge people at some pt. and i've learned u can be terribly wrong about it. i dont agree with that comment of long hair = thugs. (and tattoos)

I agree with it not covering the name tho. not b/c it looks bad, or blocks the name but for safety. other rivals can 'yank' on the hair if too long. (Ouch!) so they should keep it at above name tag. but certainly not make em cut it off.

seriously, did anyone hear they wanna put a 'flag' on Tom Bradys uni? pull the flag hes down. :D theyre just protecting the baby... ;)

It was an incredibly ignorant statement on his part.

These are million dollar athletes not schoolboys/girls. Anyone that thinks long hair makes you a bad person is a freaking idiot.

NFL is starting not to be American.... Come on, penalized and fined celebrations, suspend African American Players only, and now this? What's next African Americans are band because of their color. Don't really mean to bring race into this issue but you have to think to yourself it's really starting to become relevant. You see the Chad/T.O rule which is no celebrations, the Roy Williams rule which is no horse collar, the Rickey Williams/Al Harris rule which is no hair that covers the name on the jersey, and last but not least Roger Goddell suspending only African American players.... What ever happen to that guy with the assault charge Kircus?

Makes me really wonder....

There have been some ridiculous posts already. This is bad enough, the "Goodell vs african americans" by "real cowboy fan" was by far the worst tho.

What does hair length have to do with your character? Thats like saying Tom petty is a thug b/c of his hair length. I guess that would make almost every rock star a thug by your definition.. Unless.... of course you mean BLACK people with longer hair are thugs. I dont see how having dreads or having just long hair would be much different.

Also the Goodell only making rules against african americans is prob not even worth replying to besides saying I am ashamed sometimes to call other cowboys fans, true fans.

i remember pre-sabical (think thats the right word) Ricky WIlliams complained because he was getting pulled down by his dreads but the comish said that its all fair game but this was before the roy williams rule

Nothing however people still continue to be stereotyped. It is a stereotype that is common in America whos fault it is really doesn't matter. My grandmother used to neer allow me to wear doo rags or sag my pants outside of my outside because she felt it was poor representation of my self and made me look like a thug. You can't stop people from thinking the way that they think dreads is very common among the black community however when it comes to getting a job it is almost required for you to have a low cut ceaser (a real job atleast) There is no point in even trying to breakdown the stereotypes people have about another person because you will have an idea of a person based of what they wear and you will perceive someone to be a thug if they have white T baggy jeans and dreads the same way it will be preceived that a girl is loose if she where's short skirts and belly shirt. I am not directing this towards anyone nor do i want someone to respond hey i'm not like that i don't pre judge people i just using you as a general term and i am in no way trying to point out anything about anyone when the only thing that i know about most of you guys is that yall are cowboys fans.

Its part of the image thing. And for the idiots that have to rant against Goodell, it would be nice to see if they could read well enough to notice that this came from the Chiefs, not the Commish.
Gangster Rap truly embodies gangster behavior. That is how they look, and judging from the number that have been shot and killed, they have earned it.
So some in the League do not want to have the league in any way identified with that element.

This gets a big

They should all have short hair and shave every morning...I can not stand long haired people with facial hair.
