NFL considering forcing players to cut hair?

just go ahead and call it what it is... the Marion Barber rule.

This is America let them wear whatever they want. It's a free country. Just have no penalty for it getting pulled or anything.

There already is no penalty for pulling a ball carrier down by the hair.

Why would they create this new rule?
They already have the horse collar rule in place after playing successfully without the rule for how many years????
If you want to watch an intimidating defense you have to watch college games now!:bang2:

The next rule made by Goodell will define any talk against the way he handled Spygate as "Hate Speech." Punishment: the Patriots get your #1 pick.

didnt LJ get penalized for pulling Polamalu down by his hair? They called unnecessary roughness or something

Quick, someone create a site called "save their dreads" and let's get everyone to sign it and send it to Goodell.

You could always do a temporary thing on "EmbraceTheHatred.com" with a petition. ;)

Its part of the image thing. And for the idiots that have to rant against Goodell, it would be nice to see if they could read well enough to notice that this came from the Chiefs, not the Commish.
Gangster Rap truly embodies gangster behavior. That is how they look, and judging from the number that have been shot and killed, they have earned it.
So some in the League do not want to have the league in any way identified with that element.

What does having dreads have to do with gangster rap?

NFL is starting not to be American.... Come on, penalized and fined celebrations, suspend African American Players only, and now this? What's next African Americans are band because of their color. Don't really mean to bring race into this issue but you have to think to yourself it's really starting to become relevant. You see the Chad/T.O rule which is no celebrations, the Roy Williams rule which is no horse collar, the Rickey Williams/Al Harris rule which is no hair that covers the name on the jersey, and last but not least Roger Goddell suspending only African American players.... What ever happen to that guy with the assault charge Kircus?

Makes me really wonder....

I really hope this guy is joking. If not ....... Wow

How about you do as the guy that pays you the millions of dollars tells you. I'm sure there are other places out there that will hire you if you decide you no longer want to play in the NFL

The military has a dress code for hair and facial hair (you can have a mustache but it has to meet requirements to)

Most Police and Fireman also have this type of restrictions funny how guys put there life on the line for peanuts have to follow a stricter Hair policy than guys making millions and people are whining about it.

Simple if you do not like it go get another job that allows it. Start your own business what ever I do not care. If they do not like the rule they have options

military, police and firemen don't have people paying 100s or 1000s to watch them do their job nor are they expected to have individuality.

It is not Godell that is driving this change if you people read it is Lamar Hunt and the Kansas City Chiefs someone who owns a team

Whats your point it is still a dress code

The NFL has a dress code already with the uniforms. I have a dress code at work which can be changed on a whim.

Yet those guys are the one protecting you for 1000's of dollars your life is in there hands in some ways so which is more important job.

Please if the players do not like it go play in Canada or get another job

That's the truth right there. It's all about money, and not player money, but executive money.

No, IDIOTS relate dreads with being a thug.

What rule? Their job DOES allow it. This is a proposal to change that rule, which is a lot different from entering the job with the rule already in place.

u can't be serious

K so if your needing surgery and the best doctor has dreads you will pass for a more "uniform efficient" doctor?

You sure you want that "thug" operating on you even though his heritage leads back to long hair?

It's especially peculiar bc a lot of you were alive in the 60's and 70's when long hair was the thing. But I guess when it's you personally it's not thuggish. It's only other people.

Lol, seriously?

Cops, soldiers and firemen are far underpaid but then again... A lot of people can become one of those, not many can become a professional athlete. And we as fans determined what their pay rate would be by accepting some large prices for games.

Its not to say officers etc. aren't worry of it. But you as an american citizen have the right to do a ride along with an officer on a regular basis ( and take it from me it not nearly as impressive as the fifth row seat of a playoff game)

Also I think a cop with longer hair would still warrant just as much respect, but maybe thats just me. It's not a fashion show, if a cop pulls me over he could have a jerry curl for all I care, I still respect the law and the outfit, the same way a fan should respect a team or uniform.

Luckily the worst we have is MBIII whom most of us adore.God forbid we have an Al Harris b/c then you would hear nothing but how unfair it was to do so.

Lamar is able to influence the league from the grave.

It does sound like a Hunt type idea.
