OK, looking at the waiver lists in this thread, I have identified 6 veterans at 3 different positions that I think could help the Boys some:
NOSE TACKLE
Terdell Sands... 6-7, 335 pounds... I'm also intrigued by Khalif Mitchell for the practice squad...
OFFENSIVE LINE
Damion McIntosh... 6-4, 320 pounds, OT... has started 111 games in the NFL...
Antony Davis... 6-4, 325 pounds, OT/OG... has started 32 games in the NFL... the ability to play more than one position might make him attractive as a backup, and he's 3 years younger than McIntosh...
DEFENSIVE BACK
Deltha O'Neal... 5-11, 195 pounds... is 32 years old, but might be a capable short-term solution as a backup... has shown the ability to make plays on the ball...
Evan Oglesby... 5-11, 186 pounds... bring back the old Cowboy, he could be the 5th corner and a solid special teamer...
Bernard Pollard... 6-1, 225 pounds... a force against the run at strong safety, the problem is the Boys need corners more than safeties, and when he's on the field, you almost have to play zone coverages...
So, if you want to churn the roster, sign O'Neal or Oglesby to take the 53rd spot, bring in McIntosh or Davis and cut Procter (or bring in both, and cut Procter and McQuistan, that would work for me), and maybe replace Siavii with Sands (I would consider this the least likely move)...
That still leaves me a bit worried about the depth at ILB until Jason Williams gets back from his sprained ankle, but I didn't really see anything in the way of veteran ILBs that appealed to me... a guy like Blackstock doesn't offer the cover skills the Boys would be looking for...
Just my 2 cents worth...
