Damion Mcintosh at backup RT? He would have to be better than McQ.

This post gets the Bear seal of approval (or is that salmon of approval??)... he'd be a nice veteran pickup...

Im interested in:

Deltha Oneal Vet cb who has had two seasons with 9 or more int's (9 one year, 10 another year)

Would be a huge veteran depth add.

------------------

Kevin Fowler. Started in Houston for a while after playing for us back in the parcells days. I think he'd be a capable backup for us.

-----------------
Brian Brohm

I wanted him in the draft, and I'm convinced he would have been a better fit than McGee.

They cut Deltha but kept Jacques Reeves. Tells me all I need to know about Deltha.

I doubt the Cowboys are interested in a 32 year old to back up.

Why not?? At this point, the Boys should be more focused on short term help than the long term picture, IMO... 32 isn't that old for an offensive lineman anyway... if he could solidify the line depth for 2 or 3 seasons, I'm all for it...

Polar bears eat a variety of pinnipeds. You're good with seal.

Sands would be good player to look at. Flat out huge guy that's been around the league. I can't imagine that he's worse than Siavii.

Now that we've gotten rid of the turds in Dallas, perhaps we could justify bringing in a Terd... like you, I like his size for the nose...

And we kept Jacques around forever as well. So what?

Deltha is healthier than Chris McCallister who some want us to get.

But they give me gas...

I'm more of a silver-tipped grizzly, anyway...

Yeah, silly idea. Buehler needs cut.

Anyways, this is a guy that was one of the top 5 return men in the game 2 seasons ago before being slowed by a injury last year.

Your hatred is also blinding you. Your making up things to try and support your unfounded argument just for something to do. His hands have never been questionable, the only knock against him ever was his size.

Lets see I live in Baltimore and watch Ravens games so my hatred is blinding me. Between what I have scene and not heard from the coaches in this town when it comes to him it is deafening. Buehler also is not an avg kicker he will run down and willingly put his nose into the pile. Even still with 3 kickers and a LS we do not need any more players that can only do one thing. Well I guess Baltimore doesn't know because with all the help they need at WR they let a talented one in your eyes go. They got rid of Figurs because they brought in Chris Carr who can get on the field as a DB too and not just a punt returner and that is all Figurs would do on this team is punt return, no kick return, not punt team gunner but only a punt returner. Sorry I would stick with crayton.

So capable that he couldn't make the Chiefs...

Given that he's started 111 of the 115 games he's played in the NFL, perhaps what's in question here is the Chiefs' personnel evaluations...

...ya suppose that those 111 games in the trenches have taken a toll on him at all?

Bernard Pollard cut, interesting.
Not saying we should get him, but he was one of the few chiefs that were at least decent in defense...

Pollard's name caught my eye too, but he's a strong safety, and the Boys' need is at cornerback...

Wade let him walk the second his contract was up. That and the 2007 playoff game, 47 seconds to go before halftime tells me all I need to know about Jacques.

Anyone find it curious that the Giants kept 9 linebackers and 7 wide receivers?? 1/3 your roster for two positions?

Now us keeping 10 Olineman is a reach, but I don't expect to see 10 still there by Sept. 13.

That, I can't answer for you... I just know he's been a capable, journeyman type offensive lineman in this league, and the Boys could use some quality depth there...

Inasmuch as offensive linemen can play well into their 30s, and inasmuch as I'd be looking at McIntosh as a short-term plug-in, unless he is damaged goods, I'd surely be in favor of taking a close look at him...

He's not as good as Pashos, but he'd probably come a lot cheaper...

I'd also be looking at Anthony Davis, who has started 32 games in the NFL (all of them in 2005 and 2006, for the Bucs)... IIRC, he can play some guard, too...

OK, looking at the waiver lists in this thread, I have identified 6 veterans at 3 different positions that I think could help the Boys some:

NOSE TACKLE

Terdell Sands... 6-7, 335 pounds... I'm also intrigued by Khalif Mitchell for the practice squad...

OFFENSIVE LINE

Damion McIntosh... 6-4, 320 pounds, OT... has started 111 games in the NFL...

Antony Davis... 6-4, 325 pounds, OT/OG... has started 32 games in the NFL... the ability to play more than one position might make him attractive as a backup, and he's 3 years younger than McIntosh...

DEFENSIVE BACK

Deltha O'Neal... 5-11, 195 pounds... is 32 years old, but might be a capable short-term solution as a backup... has shown the ability to make plays on the ball...

Evan Oglesby... 5-11, 186 pounds... bring back the old Cowboy, he could be the 5th corner and a solid special teamer...

Bernard Pollard... 6-1, 225 pounds... a force against the run at strong safety, the problem is the Boys need corners more than safeties, and when he's on the field, you almost have to play zone coverages...

So, if you want to churn the roster, sign O'Neal or Oglesby to take the 53rd spot, bring in McIntosh or Davis and cut Procter (or bring in both, and cut Procter and McQuistan, that would work for me), and maybe replace Siavii with Sands (I would consider this the least likely move)...

That still leaves me a bit worried about the depth at ILB until Jason Williams gets back from his sprained ankle, but I didn't really see anything in the way of veteran ILBs that appealed to me... a guy like Blackstock doesn't offer the cover skills the Boys would be looking for...

Just my 2 cents worth...

Word, well not to mention Pollard is questionable in coverage.

Saints cut Adrian Arrington (WR) who I know they were pretty high on. Not a speed guy but might be worth looking at.

I'd also take a look at ILB Darry Beckwith. I think the Cowboys had some level of interest during the draft.
