I respect your feelings but I would encourage you to step outside your comfort level. You absolutely owe it to yourself to go to Cowboys stadium for a game for just the experience. Stay at home fan or not, it's something that every fan should do once. I would never ask you to go to an away divisional game, but even a place like San Diego is incredible. It's a beautiful place, the weather is perfect and there are 40,000 Cowboy fans there who would welcome you with open arms.

I bet if you let other fans know here know you were going to any game you would meet up and have the memory of a lifetime.

Absolutes in life are disappointing. Outline things in pencil and be prepared to erase. Some of the most memorable things I've ever done I did not sure I really wanted to do them.

Thanks for the advice but I'm on call if I'm not scheduled to fly already so I have to stick close to home. I could go to the Falcons games because the stadium is close but just never have. Hectic job makes for me cocooning myself when I have the chance.

I'm truly not interested in the NFL live. I went to plenty of Bama games live & it was fun.

San Diego is beautiful. I agree.

Irrelevant to me. I like to watch the entire NFL. Any game I want at any time.

And if you negotiate with them, you can get the package either free or for $130 or less for the whole season. That's less than $35 a month. Heck, I spend that out eating in one week! I've never paid the full price in the 9 years I've had the NFL Ticket.

Pretty much every other sport. The reality is that the nature of the NFL having only 16 games, every game played by every team should be nationally televised. It would not be difficult to do. Instead the NFL likes to have garbage contracts with DirecTV, Fox, and CBS.

A fan friendly schedule would look like this

Fox - Morning game, Afternoon Game, Night Game
ABC - Morning game, Afternoon Game, Night Game
NBC - Morning game, Afternoon Game, Night Game
CBS - Morning game, Afternoon Game, Night Game
ESPN - Morning game, Afternoon Game, Night Game
TNT - Morning game, Afternoon Game, Night Game

Right there in one sunday, you could have 18 games...

The reality is there is a max of 16 games played per week, and when you throw in Thursday and Monday games that even further reduces how many games need to be played on Monday. It reduces it to 14 games (minus byes).

Other leagues play more games generally than the NFL, but even then they are on numerous channels and throughout the week.

Also by having exclusivity deals with DirecTV, the NFL is forcing fans into a specific television package, whether they like it or not.

The MLB gives you the ability to subscribe to all MLB games through its own site, this gives you more games for a lot less money than sunday ticket.

NBA has the same thing with League Pass which is also cheaper than Sunday Ticket, especially if you only want it digitally.

Supply and demand. As long as people continue to watch in record numbers and pay the price for Sunday Ticket, nothing's going to change.

The other sports leagues are every bit as greedy as the NFL. They just aren't in any position to be making the demands and negotiating the contracts the NFL does. In my opinion, a large part of the problem the NBA and MLB face is their own doing. Their regular season games are irrelevant because they play too damn many. Their season packages are cheaper because no one wants to pay a bunch of money to watch a bunch of games that don't mean anything.

They've given me deals as well. You just have to call.

I stand by the fact that it isn't worth it. Why spend an extra 300$ and be tied to directv when the majority of our games are nationally televised.

You end up having to deal with ~ 4 games that aren't on your TV.

Let's fix that problem. firstrowsports and other streaming websites have HD streaming for free. I use them for these 4 games per season. I then hook up a 5$ cord from my laptop to my television, thereby getting the game for free.

300$ saved. So no, it isn't worth it in my opinion. If you want to watch every game, NFL redzone is perfect. I am sure you know about that is though lol.

It isn't worth the money to you. To a lot of us it is.

Some of us don't like to watch games in bars. Some of us want to watch games in the peace and quiet of our own caves. Some of us DON'T get all the national games. What's so hard to understand about that?

I agree. Everyone is at different places in life and values different things and have different incomes.

I can't tell you what it's worth to you because I don't know your situation nor your particular likes and dislikes.

Thank you for reminding us that we can't speak for other's situations in matters such as these. :)

You live in Philly?

Eh, technically Lower Merion, but I commute to downtown for work. Been here for the past 15 years or so. The sports bars in the suburbs are kind of boring, so I'll usually take the train into the city to watch the games.

I'm curious about this, how exactly do you negotiate this? Have you tried this with other packages as well, I was about to switch to DirecTV

I've negotiated with them for the past 6 years and I get the Sunday Ticket Max for free.

Have you been to the Linc to watch the Cowboys play? I just ask because I have tickets for my son, my daughter's boyfriend and myself in December.

I do not want to over react or in any way take away from your excitement of going - but common sense says be careful. No other city hates a sports team like Philly hates Dallas. Like most NFL stadiums you will hear some harmless fan banter, but there are people there who will take it to the next level, kids or not (the guys at the Phillie games is one of the worst fan stories ever).

Have a talk with your group on what to expect, find out where the security guys are in your section, be cool and you should be okay.

When you quoted me, where did I mention bars?

If you want to quote me on something, at least critique something in that quote that was being said for the sake of healthy debate.

I do not watch football in bars. I have never watched football in a bar. I also don't plan on watching football in a bar, as long as Dallas has those infamous debacle games.

What I will do: I will gladly connect my laptop to my television, where I can see any game that I want to in HD by streaming off of a website for free.

I feel that it is wasteful to spend money on something that you can get for free.

What's so hard to understand about that?

You call them up and tell them you can't afford the NFL Sunday Ticket at its current price. If they buck and say, "Sorry, that's all we have" ask to speak to retention. Retention is the department that can give you good deals. The regular customer service representatives can only give you the package that's running. Sometimes, they (the customer service reps) have good specials. Other times, they don't. But the retention department wants to keep your business, so they're always looking to make deals.

For this year, I wanted a better deal, and the customer service rep went down on the offer, but I didn't think it was enough. Just $198 for NFL Sunday Ticket. So I canceled. About four days from the start of the NFL season, told them I really wanted the Sunday Ticket but not at the price they were offering. The customer service guy said I only have this price packaging available, which was still too high. I told him to connect me with retention. The retention agent gave me a better deal, $130 for NFL Sunday Ticket, plus about $30 a month off my bill for six months. And hooked me back on to the service. And since I was already a customer (even though I had canceled the service) I didn't have to be placed on a contract locking me in for two additional years.

So that's what I do every year, and it seems to work for me. I haven't pushed for free service yet, however. That's probably for next year. :)

They bought the rights for 12 Billion. That crazy.

DirecTV could've owned half the teams in the league for that.....
