Here ya go WoodyGirl……….

Contract guys, what would be the ramifications of cutting Smith this year or in the offseason?

The Cowboys save $400K on the cap if they cut him next year. $9.4M dead money, $9.8M cap hit saved.
Net $400K gain on the cap if we cut Jaylon Smith. He is good as gone or will have to take a pay cut unless he ups his game as soon as possible. Don't want him to get hurt this year so maybe best to shut him down and bench him this year if planning to cut him.

He hasn't been worth even close to that contract since he signed it. He played well the year before he got the contract and only one year. Jerry and Son got so excited they payed him almost instantly. Stupid deal more like it.
He made the probowl the year he got the contract and it was a favorable contract. Im sorry but there will be teams that will be interested. Honestly he may even be better for it as well with a move.

An UDFA rookie LB $600K/year would outplay JSmith...

Easy to determine that right now. Bench Jaylon Smith and play Bernard and Gifford. Or we could play Bernard the first quarter, Gifford the second, Smith the 3rd, and whichever of the three played best let that player play the fourth quarter.

That's too logical and reasonable for the Cowboys

What's your favorite Jaylon play of 2020?

For me, it was when he launched his body, head first, into a player
already being tackled, drawing a 15 yard personal foul on 1st and 20.

Then he upstaged that with an open field tackle (no, the other one... lol)
where he lifted a player up and tossed him forward 3 yards, making and 3rd and 4
turn into 3rd and inches.

Then he did one better than that when he drew a pass interference by blatantly
running into a receiver... and celebrated like he did something positive.

Can't wait to see what this fool does next game... smh/lol

Jaylon has combined tackles this year of (solo/assist) 10,14,8,7, 14,10,12 . Yeah he sucks for the money but he’s hardly the biggest issue on defense , the defensive backs and d line have been incompetent clowns .

You can’t cut him now as there’s 23m in dead money. But I expect him to be cut before the 3rd day of 2021 season when his 2021 salary is guaranteed. That’d mean about 9m in dead money which is manageable. He’s not worth the 7.2m base salary so IMO it’s an easy decision.

Why not?????
MM's trying to save his own azz. My guess is since CV19 cost him 3-4 months of personal interaction with his players he decided the kid-glove approach to get a better understanding of his players. If you notice his after-game pressers, he chooses his words carefully but pushed back a bit after the Sunday game. Most direct criticism of the players we've seen so far...... the Dalton hit and he admitted they've scaled D playbook down to basic high school stuff and guys are still not getting. You could sense his frustration. I'm wondering if he's run out of patience with a few players. Notice the rumors of Poe and Worley possibly being cut and trading of Griffen. I expect at least half of the current D starters will not return after the season. As for Jaylon, even if Stephen or Jerry won't cut him, they can't control how much, if, at all he plays, MM does that.

One option is asking him to take a pay cut......
I don't know how to respond to this.

It's like you don't know who is the owner, GM, CEO and Grand Poobah of the Dallas Cowboys.

Not that I disagree but I honestly don't see that happening.

Take notice how Jerry and Stephen are responding to the state of this team.

I agree he hasn’t been good and should at least be benched... but Watch jaylon go to another team and flourish.

A team that holds guys accountable.... or knows what they’re doing. Or how to use his talent to get him back on a pro bowl level.

I don’t see it. They already paid him and he’s not all that bad, he’s fast just not that instinctive of a run stopper. Actually I can’t say his coverage skills have showed up either. I think they take a cap hit if they cut him, but also save the cash from his salary. You’d have to pay someone to play lb if you cut him and with no Dline I think you get the same result.

Jaylon Smith is a made man by Jerry Jones evidenced by his contract extension.

It will not happen.

Agree with you here, this is the kind of move Skeletor will not make because it makes his contract extension to him look mighty stupid.
Ego, remember..... unfortunately, Jaylon is safe for at least couple more years.
