Romo was prepared for NFL defenses as soon as he stepped on th field in 2006. Matt Ryan probrably still has alot to learn so the comparison is still stupid imo. Just a bunch of people who want to lump other qbs in with Romos failures.
I agree, the comparison is stupid. Matt Ryan is nowhere near as good as Romo and probably won't be, ever.

Actually they talk about Romo meltdownS, in the plural. For the NFL Network folks that is what makes him "all time," in that his performances have been repeated. I'm not defending their choice, just clarifying their position.
I could have wrote "performanceS," but I kind of expected that to be assumed. My bad.

Even so, their selection is completely ridiculous. Are they really trying to say that, in all of NFL history, there are only 8 "meltdowns" worse that Tony Romo's post-November performances?

I'm not arguing in their favor. Almost every "10 Most..." shows that they have I feel is flawed in terms of the lists they have chosen. I'm always left feeling, "But what about..." or "You chose ____?"

I guess having the kind of running game Atlanta had last season equals what we've had in Romo's 2 and half years of starting.

BTW, I'm I the only one who doesn't think it's a coincidence that it's the same as his jersey number.

Romo at number 9 = fail.

Is Mcnabb on the list?

Considering the # of yards and tds Michael Turner had with a rookie qb shows the respect teams had for Matt Ryan's passing ablility. Had teams not respected his ability as a passer, Turner wouldn't have had the lanes to run in like he did. And Turner was an unkown comodity coming into this season too, nobody could have foreseen the year he would have.

I mean, being the #3 overall pick to a team coming off their qb going to prison and their coach quitting during the season and starting from day 1 as a rookie with Roddy White and Mike Jenkins, not to mention a rookie LT and only 1 pro bowl defender (Abraham) is just as easy as being able to ride the bench for 3 plus seasons having 2 pro bowl receivers and 1 HOF receiver, a pro bowl tight end and left tackle and D Ware. And wasn't Barber a probowler even before he started a game?

So, wouldn't it be great to see what Matt Ryan could do on this team? I would be willing to wager alot that Ryan and the Falcons will be infinite times more successful then a romo led Cowboys will be.

Put your money where your mouth is. How much would you be willing to wager? Or are you just spewing more verbal diarrhea about Romo, per usual?

Yeah, I'm calling you out.

Well, at least they rated Favre #4.

But Romo as the #9 meltdown of all time? He has only been a starting QB for 2.5 seasons and now he is among the biggest jokes of all time? What a joke!

It isn't verbal diarrhea if its true. And Ryan has already been more successful in his young NFL career then romo has so far. Playoffs his first year in the NFL as well as his first year starting and rookie of the year. Can romo say that?

Didn't think so. And yes, Matt Ryan is a much more talented, dedicated, cool under pressure, and any other positive description of a qb then romo is. Ryan didn't turn the ball over or choke at a critical time in the game against Arizona. Perhaps if he was able to get the ball back, the Falcons win. But why didn't Ryan get another chance? Because on 3rd and 16, Warner playfakes and a certain Falcon linebacker bites on the fake and gets burned in coverage by the tight end. Who is this linebacker, the same one that was brought in to replace Zach Thomas, another brilliant move. An aging linebacker who struggles in coverage, I can only hope he isn't on the field on 3rd downs at all this season.

Bein up in Virginia, shouldn't you be going for the Commanders instead?

did you really just try and make your point by making an excuse for why Ryan lost ....? the same things you are telling us shouldnt be taken into account for Romo's career.......

Romo is clearly a better QB than Ryan....Ryan is a good above average starting NFL QB..... Romo is on a whole different level....Romo is top 5....Ryan is top 15....and he did go to playoffs his first half season as a starter and his second year as a starter.......before that he was on bench....same place Ryan would be if he had Bledsoe or Vick on his team

I feel pitty for you if you think romo is better then Ryan. Your right, romo is clearly on another level then Ryan, so far down below Ryan that he can't even see down that far. romo is in the top 5 of overrated sure, but you can't base your opinion of that on anything other then stats. The only other top 10 list romo is on is the one from tonight on NFL network about melting down, right where he belongs. How many td's do you think romo would have thrown for as a rookie on that year's team? I certaintly don't think it would be more then Quincy threw that year. Romo was in his 4th and 5th seasons going to the playoffs, not his rookie season. Do you understand the difference between being a rookie qb in the nfl and being in the league for years before finally getting to play? You can say you think Ryan would be on the bench, but the fact is that isn't what happened is it? Nope, Ryan started from day 1 and even his first nfl pass was a td.

If Ryan did choke in the playoffs, I would have no problem saying he did. He didn't have the greatest game, but for a rookie playing in his first playoff game, he did a pretty good job. Its not an excuse like people make for romo such as Crayton stopping on his route. People want to say it would have been a td, but nobody knows that for sure. But on the otherhand, the Cardinal tight end ran right by Brooking on 3rd and long, and Brooking clearly bit on the fake. If you want to see again for yourself, watch NFL replay this wknd. Well see when Ryan is going into his 7th year in the NFL how his stats and playoff success stacks up against romo. Unlike the Cowboys, the Falcons have a plan for the future. They are a young team who are building through the draft, with a head coach who has a grip on his team unlike Wade. So go ahead thinking romo is a better qb then Ryan simply because romo is on a team that throws the ball much more then Atlanta and has better stats only because he has played longer. Stats aren't what determines whether a qb is talented. Aikman was one of the most talented qbs to ever play but with your logic you wouldn't think that simply because he didn't throw 500 times a year or throw for more then 23 tds a year.
