Keep reaching.

Which was the case in the Giants game, your team has a serious problem with motivation. The thing I'd be most worried about is the fact that so many people pick the Cowboys so highly early and they may get that sense of entitlement again.Hostile;2094324 said:I don't care how many starters either team had. The bottom line to me is that Dallas was on cruise control and played horrible. It could have been all 22 regular starters and it would not have made an ounce of difference. They played with all the heart of a skeleton.

I doubt that very much for any team. Not 2 years in a row.firehawk350;2094328 said:Which was the case in the Giants game, your team has a serious problem with motivation. How would I rate the significance of 2008 for the Cowboys and the Skins? Well, given it hasn't started, it would be hard to ascertain. It would vary depending on the situations. I'm not sure what you are going for here...tomson75;2094319 said:Have you ever seen a team "just put in the second string" to start a game? There is a reason teams don't do that. You guys were playing well, I'll give you that, but you've pointed out that two of our arguably best players were out (in positions where we had little to no depth)....and then there is the fact that many of out other starters were only playing with limited snaps. Either way, we clearly were not giving you our best shot. I don't have to justify anything. You won, and no one cares.
Spin? You mean like the spin I derived that post from.
How would you define significance? Honestly, how would you rate the significance of the Cowboys for 2008? the Skins?
That's what I thought.
firehawk350;2094325 said:Your the one trying to justify a loss. A win speaks for itself. But you have no end to excuses, do you? What was the reason we won 35-7 in 05? It's never, hey, you guys played better and we lost, it's always, well, we SHOULD have won if ONLY we had cared, or the refs hadn't been against us, or Crayton not dropped the ball, or something. And the sad part is your team and head coach reflect the same attitude.
I don't know dude, I haven't seen anybody real upset over the early exit. Nobody (to my knowledge) has said, man, we really need to prove ourselves this year. Seems like everyone is resting on their laurels saying, we'll, we were 13-3 and we've got a lot of talent. Nobody has shown that fire.Hostile;2094331 said:I doubt that very much for any team. If you don't care, why are you here?tomson75;2094336 said:I'm not making excuses. We lost, and like I said, no one cares....because it was a loss to the Commanders. We played like crap against a crappy team. However, the point I was making is that the Cowboys didn't field their A game, or their A players for the entirety, and the result was obvious.
My point was that your team is insignificant. I don't need excuses for that.

As far as significance, obviously it was more significant for the Commanders than the Cowboys. Nobody is arguing that. It doesn't excuse the loss and lack of heart though and even if you had all your starters in, we were playing better football for the 3 games prior.

And you obviously are making excuses. You guys are crappy and if we played our A game, we would have won! Or played our A players for the length (despite the fact that your "A" players did all of NOTHING against us in the time they DID play).
My team is insignificant??? What the hell does that even mean?
Okay, in that case, what the heck are you talking about?tomson75;2094343 said:We're on opposite pages here.
Who the hell cares? I don't need vindication from the national media... The Giants were "insignificant" last year (and are this year)... But hey, I'm glad you are happy with being thought well of.Bob Sacamano;2094345 said:when talking about the top NFL teams, the Commanders are never mentioned
So what you are saying is everyone who gets embarrassed (yes, we got embarrassed) talks the talk before they walk the walk?firehawk350;2094337 said:I don't know dude, I haven't seen anybody real upset over the early exit. Yeah, but those teams aren't the one taking the field. Did Troy Aikman take a week off for a Mexican vacation? Did Landry say, yeah, but it was a great season anyways, 13-3!!! Like I said, this Cowboys team has a problem with motivation and you don't have the coaches you did in the 70s and 90s. It isn't the lack of talk that would be disturbing to me, it's the talk that you guys were just an unlucky play away from a Championship. If everyone just shut up and went to practice, then you'd have a point. But Phillips is saying, well we technically won a playoff game because we had a bye...Hostile;2094352 said:So what you are saying is everyone who gets embarrassed (yes, we got embarrassed) talks the talk before they walk the walk?
Hmmm.
In the 1970 season Dallas basically had Super Bowl V stolen from them by the refs. In 1971 I don't remember the players making mention of that one time. Not once. In Super Bowl VI we dominated the Dolphins and allowed the fewest points in Super Bowl History.
In 1991 we got blown out by the Lions in the Playoffs. I don't remember the 1992 team talking. In 1992 we won Super Bowl XXVII.
In 1994 we lost a heart breaker to the 49ers in the NFC Championship. In 1995 I don't remember the players talking. We just went out and won Super Bowl XXX.
I don't know, and don't care.firehawk350;2094367 said:Yeah, but those teams aren't the one taking the field. Did Troy Aikman take a week off for a Mexican vacation?
Yes, after the 1969 season. Not in those exact words.Did Landry say, yeah, but it was a great season anyways, 13-3!!!
I never said we were a play away. I said we played without heart.Like I said, this Cowboys team has a problem with motivation and you don't have the coaches you did in the 70s and 90s. I don't think he's saying that at all. What he said was stupid, but he didn't say that.If everyone just shut up and went to practice, then you'd have a point. But Phillips is saying, well we technically won a playoff game because we had a bye...
