NFL to use electronics to measure first downs

Sorry Skynet. I wasn't being serious. And I can already see people claiming that a middle chip can't read where the tip of the ball actually is. Lol
Oh...okay....I didn't see any reason my humor/sarcasm meter should have twitched. You might have to give dolts like me a clue.

But certainly...can't make everyone happy. I said this when NCAAF went to 4 team playoff. We're now...12? The 13-14th are mad now.

The hesitancy is that it probably doesn't lead to more accurate calls. The chains are still probably 98% accurate, and this doesn't sound like it will effect the actual spotting of the football. This is likely an expense the NFL will have just to slightly speed up pace of play.
I think it would be reserved for just a few plays...if at all. And just an aid/data...not the ubiquitous final rule of every play.

Where the ball is is just a part of the call. Granted an important part...so why not make that part accurate?

Ok ........ to everyone over the age of 40 ....... chip in the ball does not mean a little square microchip placed in the ball, filaments can be placed throughout the ball so the entire ball essentially becomes the "chip".

Wow. A little ageism so early in the morning. Lol

I've never considered the gambling angle as an excuse for the very poor performance of the ref's but the terrible calls this past year sure might cause one to wonder.

Well since you are obviously very technologically sound and over 40...why the "anyone over 40" statement? And will we all have to wear tinfoil hats to "protect" us from the "mind control waves" that these "wired footballs" will send out? Lol
