NFLPA is Investigating the Cowboys for Collusion in regards to the Dez Bryant deal

I figured this was common knowledge. They are all waiting for someone else to go first to set the market. The teams all said this a few months ago that this was the cause for the delays. On the other side, no one wants to be first so are the players colluding as well? The second person is just going to ask for what the first one got plus a little extra. Dez' deal should be a little unique though because of the some of the clauses and overall length of the deal will likely be longer then most but it still comes down to guaranteed money and value over the first few years.

This seems like a late negotiating ploy by Tom Condon. Doesn't he represent both receivers?

It appears that the agent for Thomas is Todd France.

Apparently, CAA (where Condon leads the football operations) is trying to acquire France’s Five Star Athletes Management. France would become an employee of CAA. I don't think the acquisition has happened yet.

Jimmy Sexton is Tom Condon's partner at CAA and he represents Julio Jones.

Good luck with proving that and of course they did.

Story on possible collusion between Cowboys and Broncos:

NFLPA is reviewing information to determine whether there was collusion between the Denver Broncos and Dallas Cowboys on the unsettled contractual situations of franchise WRS Demaryius Thomas and Dez Bryant, per an NFLPA official. The NFLPA believes the Broncos and Cowboys had contact about each players’ contract when the collective bargaining agreement prohibits such contact. The NFLPA now is trying to determine if collusion did occur and when to possibly file a claim. The deadline for the WRs to sign long-term deals is Wednesday of next week.

It would be hard to prove. Jerry still uses a flip phone, so it's not like they'll find some texts from Jerry to the Broncos.

I would not doubt if this type of thing happens, but teams/owners would be smart enough not to leave a trail of evidence.

Thanks, good info x.

One is collusion and the other isn't

depends on the level of semantics you are engaged in.

does an activity have to be illegal to amount to collusion?

when a trade union enters into private agreements to artificially raise wage labor, you can call it what you want, but that act is pretty much identical to the collusion we are talking about here.

The Cowboys seem desperate to pay Dez as little as possile which makes sense but at some point they neeasd to make a fair offer. This season has a lot of potential but if Dez is unhappy and feels disrespected it could have a seriously negative effect on the season. As a fan I am willing to go for it and give Dez a good deal and if in 4 years it puts us in a bad cap situation then so be it but Romo has about 3 good years left if that.. Give him a happy Dez for those 3 years

So the collusion is against both the Broncos and Cowboys? The title only said Cowboys.

So does this mean a long term deal with Dez is not likely to happen by the deadline?

This will all come to a head on July 14 when Dez and Demaryius sign identical seven year, $100 million dollar deals with $40 million guaranteed.

I'm kidding, of course. About the identical deals part.;)
