Philly is a cesspool.

I've been there for business multiple times, and there's just this cloud of futility that hangs over the city. People are mad at everything, and they think everybody owes them something.

It's like all the smart, accomplished folks moved to New York, DC, Chicago, and Boston, and left all these losers behind.
I see a lot of stupid views being posted over a team they don't like. As a Philadelphian a lot of y'all post sound down right crazy spewing this jibberish.

Im from Philly and this conversation doesn't even offend me
Its not about offending people but about talking junk that is stupid. If that's your experience as a Philadelphian I don't know to tell you but you'd think like most people I know that's not anywhere close to your experience here.

just google philadelphia fan reputation. Sorry but please dont come to the Cowboy site and act like your team has a pristine reputation. Its poor at best.

heres a recent poll result
2 and 1. Philadelphia Eagles and Philadelphia Phillies
The Meanest Fans in America

Over the years, Philadelphia fans have booed Santa Claus as well as their own star players. They've even booed a guy who just helped the city win a friggin' World Series title—while he was getting his ring. Boooo! Admittedly, there are some things fans have cheered. Like Michael Irvin's career-ending neck injury and a fan being tased on the outfield grass. Things reached their nadir last season, when Citizens Bank Park played host to arguably the most heinous incident in the history of sports: A drunken fan intentionally vomited on an 11-year-old girl. The truth is this: All told, Philadelphia stadiums house the most monstrous collection of humanity outside of the federal penal system. "Some of these people would boo the crack in the Liberty Bell," baseball legend Pete Rose once said. More likely, these savages would have thrown the battery that cracked it.

I think that's just more fire to an already raging fire. I don't think Cowboy Fans need Murray to hate the Eagles and same goes the other way. That's what's great about the NFCE.

Huh?

Detroit has their gangs and uneducated immigrants. Baltimore has a criminal element and a hard edge. Philly has a large segment of people suffering from mental illness and chronic homelessness and drugs.... Its just an odd place. I travel a lot to most major cities. Philly is particularly odd.

But travel a little east into Jersey and it might be even worse....

Every time I get back from a northeastern business trip to the places you mentioned, I feel like I need a week-long bath.

Its thats bad. Now DC, even New York and Boston, and parts of Maryland, are good. But these other places, Cleveland, Det, Baltimore, Newark, Jersey, Philly....are old and depressed and full of unemployed, gangs, depressed people with no money.....

Some places, in the Northeast, seem like cities you would see in a third world country.... I dont think I am over exaggerating either.

What the bleep are you talking about your team? You think I'm on a Cowboys messageboard but an Eagles fan? Lay off the drugs. I don't care about all that silly stuff your writing because if you look you can see stupid fans of every fan base to act like its just concentrated in one city is stupid but I see a lot of people lie, saying stupid stuff to make themselves feel they are better than others.

Man I don't know what your talking about. I'm pretty sure its people that have all that going on but say that's a large segment is ridiculous. I guess I shouldn't expect more from online posters and people who haven't really spent any real time in the city to know this is not reflective of the city as a whole at all.

you tell me if your a troll.
dk what your trying to say. if its your team has basically good fans I disagree. your fans have an awesome person reputation (the worst in the NFL) and have had more than a few isolated incidents of stupidity. once again just google Philadelphia fan reputation.

If you're trying to stand up for your city sorry but your nothing but a 2nd tier decaying rust belt city that will always be overshadowed by NY. You've had a population drain for 60 years. you're 20 minutes from AC but had to bring in casinos because you were on the verge of collapse. Your cities best days are still behind it

the only thing you have is football and the Cowboys are going to kick your *** twice this year. I cant wait for the implosion.

Back to football...Why are the Eagles picked to win the east every year? They downgraded their QB and RB and have a college coach who really is confused about what he's doing....

I think people on this forum go a little overboard but a lot of it is true so I don't get offended. I'm sure some of the overboard stuff is because we all hate the eagles. If you want to look at crime rate, Chicago is Philly times 1000. More Americans die in Chicago then Iraq, no joke. I would also guess that LA and Detroit and possibly NY are also more "dangerous" as far as crime. Many people around the country say Philadelphians are passionate and that may be true, but I agree that most aren't intelligent about sports. Homerism doesn't make you intelligent. Only thing someone could say about Philly that would offend me is that they have a sports bar better then Chickie's and Petes. Stop it

No offense but unless you can't read its not hard to understand which part of your gibberish makes sense. All this stuff your saying about Philly is wrong and who cares about being "overshadowed" by NY? We are Philly and they are NY who cares? Actually Philly population is increasing and has been for years now soo wrong again and AC is 90minutes away not 20. The city is going through change but keep on believing what you must to feel better. Also lastly since you seem too emotional to understand I'm a Cowboys fan buddy or else I wouldn't post here. Maybe you have time to troll but I have better things to do with my time than register at other teams sites and wait for a thread like this to talk but apparently that's what your genius has surmised I'm doing.

I hear you but its silly and honestly makes those people no better than the people they claim are so bad. I can never get that. I agree but I will add most people period aren't intelligent about sports so that's why I feel that's silly to act like Cowboys fans are all knowing when they have similar traits to any other fan base. If people say forget the eagles I'm all for it but the cheap shots about Philly well that's where we part ways lol.

I understand loyalty and defending your "ground". But.....you are wrong;

This is a Large Segment of the population..."More than 430,000 of the city's 1,547,600 residents live below the federal poverty line, the report points out."

I really didn't need to look up the data/stats concerning Philly. One trip there, and its all right there in front of your eyes....It doesn't take a "study" to ascertain that Philly is a Hole. Crime is bad, but more then that, its just full of odd, depressed, mentally ill, homeless people. Everybody looks tired , beat down, desperate or confused. -- Its a cycle passed to the next generation etc etc..... its a hard cycle to break. You may not even be aware of how odd it is compared to most of the rest of the country. The frog in boiling water thing....

- According to a Health study, Philadelphia is the most depressed city in the country based on “antidepressant sales,” “suicide rates,” “and the number of days inhabitants reported being depressed.” http://www.adweek.com/adfreak/philadelphia-most-depressed-place-us-soil-20779

- Phila. rates highest among top 10 cities for deep poverty
"Philadelphia's deep-poverty rate "is a tremendous alarm bell of dysfunction and dangerous conditions," said Deborah Weinstein, executive director of the Coalition on Human Needs, a Washington nonprofit." http://articles.philly.com/2014-09-26/news/54322611_1_deep-poverty-poverty-line-south-philadelphia

"Deep poverty also has severe consequences for children. Many develop cognitive and emotional delays, studies have shown. Children in deep poverty are more frequently hospitalized, do less well in school, and are less likely to be employed later in life, said Mariana Chilton, a national expert on poverty at Drexel University's School of Public Health."

Home to Highest Homeless Rate, Philly Lays Out Plan to Address it

"The Shared Prosperity Philadelphia plan, presented Thursday at the Central Library of the Free Library of Philadelphia, states that at a "staggering 28 percent," the poverty rate here is the highest among the nation's 10 largest cities. More than 430,000 of the city's 1,547,600 residents live below the federal poverty line, the report points out." http://www.governing.com/topics/urb...-Rate-Philly-Lays-Out-Plan-to-Address-it.html

Sometimes the place you live in is just a craphole. I live in Memphis. It's a craphole. It still has its defenders as a great place, though, and that's awesome. I wish I could have that sort of outlook. I moved south across the state line so I wouldn't have to dodge bullets anymore and Mississippi is even worse, just for different reasons.

I miss DFW and Louisville.

The fact that the Philly fans saw fit to boo the serious neck injury that Michael Irvin incurred was more than enough to convince me of the nature of the Philly fans. Far too many are simply a classless multitude of rabble.
