Nine defensive linemen added that didn't play a down last year?

You are disagreeing with what? My opinion or what the NFL will do? I never gave my opinion on the player so I don't think there is anything to agree or disagree about there. As far as the NFL is concerned, they don't care about that. They care about the brand and they will do what is best, in there eyes, to protect the shield and the money it brings in. They will not care, nor will they consider opinion on what may be considered right or wrong by some fans. Irrelevant is how they will view those kinds of things.

Once again, I disagree. For the record, it's your opinion(s) that I find disagreeable.

Precedent already set with other players who returned to the NFL.
Brent probably doesn't play this year but his agent has apparently already started discussing what steps need to be taken for him to do so.

Smartest move is a quiet rejoining of the team mid-season where he doesn't play but begins to practice and work out at the facilities then he is full go next off-season.

I didn't say that he could not return. I said anytime soon. Also, Brent is a guy who was essentially a practice player. He was not a starter or anything close to that. He's not coming back to the Cowboys anytime soon IMO.

Josh Brent was not only a starter, he was the best nose tackle in the 3-4 they had by a mile.

He is expected to shine in the 4-3 with inside help.

However, the dude is a hardcore alcoholic, and he's got to get that right or it won't matter.

Again, other players precedents are there.... They returned and quickly.
What you want to happen is not what has happened in the past.

Brent was a starter when he left and he'd have been a starter on 20 other NFL teams as well.
He was a young, cheap ascending player who played the run very well and actually added pass rush push up the middle.

Perhaps you can show me where I ever stated "What I want to happen." I never once said what I personally would like to see happen.

It's worthy of something, isn't it? Don't worry, I still value you as a person.

You are either avoiding the question or not understanding what I am asking you. As I said earlier, I never gave a personal opinion on Brent. I simply said what I thought the NFL would do. Those are two very different things.

When they are almost as old as dirt it is, especially when they were part of a forgettable defense.

Zimmy, do you think our new D-line will be better than last year after dumping Ware and Hatcher due to salary cap mismanagement?

Zimmy, do you think our new D-line will be better than last year minus Ware and Hatcher?

No, not with the current roster. They need an influx of young talent via the draft and then I will think they have a chance to be better.

I heard that any suspension will take into account time he's already been away. But I'm not sure.

I'm not really for him coming back, but I'm resigned to the likelihood he is.

Oh he's coming back.

And I think its going to help

I'm guessing he'd be very motivated to play and would be an asset no doubt.

If he's paid his debt to society, who are we to continue to punish him?

That's not true at all. Brent was playing at a very high level and was an extreme bargain as a cheap starting caliber NT.

I agree. I believe, though, that this layoff, as well as his mental state, may prove detrimental to his development as a DT.

I said personal opinion on the player. There is a difference. I'm sure you know that but I'm also sure you are refusing to acknowledge that.

Be that as it may, I do not agree with those who say that he will be allowed to play next season. I mean, he might be but I don't think so. There is no precedence, that I am aware of, on DUI and/or Intoxicated Manslaughter in the NFL. There are a lot of powerful groups who will make trouble for the NFL with this. This, IMO, is a simple business decision by Goodell. Do we allow this kid back in and deal with all of the fallout that is sure to come or do we put him on the shelf and allow the entire thing to calm down and reinstate him down the line when it's no longer big news?

To me, it's simple but we will surely see what happens.

Agreed. Off topic, but I really like Kony Ealy, DE from Missouri. I want to see what Marinelli can do with some talented guys.

Agreed there too.
But a dude that big and strong isn't likely to suffer like a skill player would.
There is little to do in prison (or heck house arrest even) except eat and lift weights.

Being a fatty that can strop the run seems a pretty easy task for a man the size of an outhouse.
