I'll stick with Bowe's combine score of 4.51. It's more tightly regulated than Pro Day workouts and more fair when judging all 40 times because they all compete on the same field.
That's fine, but you should look at both. It's silly to judge an individual off one run on a single day.

Look at the field the player ran on and compare it with other 40 times. That 4.40 is legit. And it shows on the field. In a thread once, I broke down a play in an LSU game where Bowe ran a 4.4 on the field in pads.

No offense, but trying to compare Kelly with Dwayne Bowe in terms of speed isn't very smart.

Just to expound on how non-equivalent the Bush/McFadden parallels are:

1. Bush played in the most dynamic offense in college football, behind great offensive lines, and ith a QB and receivers who filled the first and second rounds of the NFL draft. Can you say that about anyone on that Arkansas offense, aside from Felix Jones? I don't know about their Oline, but is there a single day 1 prospect on that side of the ball with McFadden? There is nowhere near the talent surrounding McFadden that surrounded Bush.

2. Bush played in the defensively undermanned PAC-10. Surrounded by playmakers, Bush got to go up against slow, stupid defenses week in and week out. McFadden has to go up against teams stacked with NFL talent week after week - and he still produces.

3. Bush never played the feature, carry the load back role for any period of time at USC. McFadden is given the ball 30 times a game sometimes, and never slows down despite the brutal beating he is taking, because he runs so tough.

So please, stop the inane Bush-McFadden comparisons just because McFadden is so physically superior that noone can get an angle on him - even in the SEC. The only thing they have in common is their speed. Bush is nowhere near the overall physical specimen that Darren McFadden is, and he will never be the RB that McFadden will be.

McFadden = Sure Thing. Don't sleep.

I don't see how you can dismiss these facts NYC. He really couldn't put it in simpler terms for you. If you don't like McFadden, fine, but he's seen by everyone to be the real deal.

And not to beat you up or anything, but we have to question how much of these guys you really know about or follow when you posted a while back that you wanted to draft Brian Leonard instead of some of these guys considering Brian Leonard was drafted by the Rams last year.

Just sayin.......

nyc has become a full time McFadden basher. He's like a moth to a flame every time a new McFadden thread pops up despite the fact that he admitted before this season that he'd never seen him play a game and based his opinions off highlight reels and youtube clips.

The Arkansas offense has been completely disfunctional this season. Their OLine lost 3 key starters, their already weak WR corp is missing the top 3 receivers due to injury, and they lost their offensive coordinator this offseason and replaced him with David Lee, who spent last season cutting film for Parcells.

With NO threat of the pass, you'll see defenses stacking NINE men in the box to stop McFadden. Nutt and Lee continue to call runs up the middle as opposed to letting DMac use his speed to get to the outside. The reason Felix's numbers look so great is he gets those outside runs and sweeps after McFadden has softened up the defense by bulling it up the middle.

Despite everything working against him, McFadden's still carying the team on his back. Anyone who saw the Alabama game can't question his heart and toughness and ability to break tackles and gain yards after contact. He was dragging defenders around all night and put two Alabama linebackers out of the game with concussions.

McFadden is a complete back and will be a phenomenal pro RB...for somebody else. After he runs his 4.35 at his pro day and pumps that 225 lbs 25+ times and blows everyone away with his agility, he'll be a top 5 pick for sure.

McFadden doesn't break tackles? This guy is a amazing, he plays in the toughest conference in the nation and still puts up big time numbers. I believe he'll be just fine. I haven't seen any proof that he can't break tackles. Just ask LeRon Landy how good he is...

USC won "several" MNCs while Bush was there? Funny, I only remeber one.

And funny how he wasn't on the field in crunch time for the second one they could've won.

Anyway, this arguing doesn't make sense. You can't "prove" that McFadden doesn't break tackles, and what difference would it make if you did? Marion Barber breaks more tackles than Tony Dorsett or LaDainaian Tomlinson, but which back would you rather have?

Half of nyc's arguments don't make sense to me. Speed doesn't translate to the NFL? Huh? And the SEC <> the NFL? Um, no kidding. No college conference does. It's closer than the Big 12, though.

Here's an idea. Watch him play in an actual game. Of course he's blazing past people in the highlights. THAT'S WHY THEY'RE HIGHLIGHTS! If you want to see him stiff-arm and run people over and spin out of a tackle for an extra 2 or 3 yards, you're going to have to invest a little more than 2 minutes for a highlight reel.

I was called stupid before when I said the Cowboys should draft Bowe if they go offense and that I would draft Peterson second only to Joe Thomas. If I had the first overall pick in the draft. I said before the Draft that Bush won't dominate in the NFL because his biggest asset was speed and it should be TATTOOED on your forehead everytime you see my name, SPEED DOESN'T TRANSLATE TO THE NFL!!! :bang2: :banghead: :bang2: :banghead:

I've proved I don't just pick because of what the self-declared experts in the media tell me. I judge the players by what I see. I will stand on what I said and we will see how well McFadden does in the NFL next year. We will see how well Malcolm Kelly does in the NFL compared to DeSean Jackson. (providng they both take starting positions for their respective teams)

btw, superpunk, I never compared Bush to McFadden. (though while different runners, they do have a few traits in common) I only disputed what you said about USC because Alabama was in the SEC.

I'm not going to argue this in this thread anymore. People like CowboyWay act like I said I would draft Brian Leonard over McFadden. No, I said Brian Leonard is more talented than Ray Rice, but a FB's value isn't as high as a RB! I'm not an idiot.

I'll just sit back and let it play out just like I did last season and while everyone is declaring McFadden a bust for not being the next LT.. err Peterson, I will just smirk and say to myself. I told ya so!

Breaking tackles is highlight film worthy too! Of course, along with running righy by people. Education is paramount.

Thankfully Jeff Ireland and crew don't employ your youtube method of scouting or your mantra of "Speed Doesn't Matter in the NFL."

Thankfully you're not employed by the Dallas Cowboys.

Again, someone spewing garbage in an attempt to discredit. I never said speed means nothing in the NFL, I said speed doesn't translate to the NFL. Meaning that if you dominate the college ranks because of speed. You're game won't translate to the NFL.

Get it straight.

By the way, I don't want DeSean Jackson either.

And CowboyWay was simply pointing out that you thought Brian Leonard was still in college, even though we played him 3 weeks ago. For someone to make a statement such as "Leonard is better than Rice," you'd expect that person to have watched enough of Rice *THIS YEAR* to at least realize that Leonard hasn't been playing.

Honestly, no offense, but you have to realize how your credibility went down the tubes in that thread.

Hey, I made a mistake. I though he was going to be a senior this year. I already noted I watched the game from a restaurant without the sound. I never declared I knew the Rams roster up and down.

As for credibility, we are talking about a anonymous BBS. I don't think I will be commiting suicide anytime soon for not knowing Leonard was drafted last year. ;)

Really? I have to disagree. I think his credibility went down the tubes when he positioned himself as an expert on a player and then later admitted he'd never even seen the guy play.

The two greatest RBs in Cowboys history weren't even the 1st RBs taken in their draft classes.

Blair Thomas was picked before Emmitt Smith.

Ricky Bell was picked before Tony Dorsett.

Maybe the back taken after McFadden will be pretty good too.
