No hate on Dak, but what does he do better than Rush?

It's easer to list what Dak does worse than Rush than better.

The main difference, from what I've seen is Dak has more overall caution in his passes and less decisive action in getting a ball to a contested receiver.

He will read fast. A lot of experts that watch film confirm that. Fisher, you may hate him, had a whole episode on that talking about how Dak reads very quickly when you look at tape. But Cooper has that gunslinger attitude Dak doesn't and may try to force a 50/50 ball sometimes where Dak won't. Cooper reads, but makes a decision fast. Dak reads but picks the target or tries to that's his best result.

Dak benefits from guys like Gallup and Cooper that get open. Cooper will take risks and shots at guys like Brown.

The folly is to assume one is better than the other by some natural instant assumption. Romo was great at "throwing receivers open" Dak is not.

They're all different. Dak over his career has shown he's the better overall QB. Rush seems to have a bit more gunslinger in him.

It's not easy to quantify. Dak is more talented than Rush. But how you want to see someone is very subjective as a fan while the coaches have to figure out who they fit best in their scheme

Dak has a better arm, gets more speed behind his passes. He (used to) scramble better, although I don't know if he can still do it after the calf injury.

I think Dak is still better against the blitz.

With that being said, Rush is who makes this team better atm, and that's what counts. He will lose badly sooner or later and then we'll see how they react to that. But for now he's just what the doctor ordered. I wouldn't even want Dak to be in the same building as the team right now, his "just a bump in the road" attitude is toxic. I'm still pissed at him for that comment, just the opposite of what leadership means.

You are literally trying to elevate a Jason Garrett over a Troy Aikman.

Whoa buddy! Watch those Aikman comparisons. Dude hasn’t even sniffed a NFC championship game much less 3 Superbowls. Defenses have figured out Dak. That’s why he hasn’t been the same since the Broncos game last season. He has a hard time reading zone defenses with no blitzing. Until he shows he can beat this type of defense then the comparisons to Cooper Rush are valid. Todd Bowles defense made Dak look like an undrafted rookie in week 1.

The interesting thing about Rush is that he is getting better each game. I expect him to have great game against Washington next week at home.

What winning percentage? One playoff win in his career? Cooper has shown that Dak is not a franchise QB1, and go look at all my posts, I've beat it to death, Dak is an overpaid starter at best. He racks up numbers against the NFC East, but can't beat winning teams.

At least the defense is stepping up, because again, no team has won a Super Bowl without a top flight defense, but has won with a journey man QB. Dump, Zeke, Pollard is better value, continue to shore the defense and O line, then dump Dak, when the financial hit makes sense.

He's an overpaid starter at best.

Dak is 54 - 36 as a starter. Go see where that ranks for quarterbacks that have played the same time he's played.

Dak won his first playoff game in his first 2 years. Brees won his first playoff game afrer what, 5 or 6 years?? P. Manning won his first playoff game in his 5th or 6th season. There are many other quarterbacks who didn't win their first playoff games in 2 years like Dak did. Hell Matt Stafford didn't win his first playoff game until his 11th year I believe.... did you call those quarterbacks backups too??? No... you didn't....

Do that mean Dak is better than those other quarterbacks?? No. But that certainly means that one playoff win early in a quarterback's career doesn't define him.

Its STILL a team game, so please put the goal post where it was and stop moving it. Thanks in advance!!!

With that said, I've made myself more than clear as to my support for Rush. But to call Dak a backup quarterback is just dumb. There are former and current players, coaches GMs, and scouts who've said Dak is a top 10 quarterback in this league and his numbers back that up.

You don't know more about football talent at the NFL than players, coaches, scouts and GMs so that conversation is dead right there.

Let's just sit back and enjoy the fact that we have a backup quarterback who's showing he's capable of producing under the lights. I support him, Dak, Grier and the quarterbacks on the practice squad because they all wear the star. That hatin and bashing on your own players is for weak *** cowards.

The only thing Dak does better than Rush is rush. A negligible skill, in the greater scheme of things.

More mobile

More accurate

Stronger arm

More experience

Most importantly though, and this is really what separates good QBs from everyone else, he can stand in the pocket and read an NFL defense. He doesn’t require everything be simplified and set up for him.

Rush is what most backups are, two read QBs who rely on the run game and playaction to set up easy throws.
Dak doesn’t read defenses well or process quickly enough, so you’re dead wrong about that.

Why not enjoy the play of Cooper Rush, and Noah Brown too, for that matter, during this stint? The Board has an annual problem with pay, unless it's TRomo, and we've been getting the same results for years.......watching during the post season and inconsistency in this franchise from game to game. Let's ride this out as the "meat of this schedule" is coming soon. Cooper Rush has looked better than expected and so has Noah Brown.....the problems will get exposed, as usual, when the OC gameplans
