No moral victories but team is close!

The good thing is though I think our offense is adaptable they can increase the run game run more bring three running backs the way our offensive line if he gets healthy can play we can play that ball now we're stopping the run on defense and we can run the football on offense it does not need to be high flying 30 passes a game if the defense shows up we can actually play playoff football but we need a defense first..

Think about it the bigger problems we had over the years was stopping the run and creating a threat in the run game Come December and January I think we have those elements we just need the rest of the defense to get its **** together because people are not going to run against this defense when they can just go pass happy they can make every one of the quarterbacks coming up have their best games of their careers..

This team is close because offense se has played well in 3 of those games and lights out in two. That's not sustainable if defense plays like they do. Like Chicago did the offense will be slowed and stopped at times but in 4 games defense hasn't shown any improvement and has actually gotten worse as team have more tape.

The defense is not going to improve over night. It's 32nd and top 4 all time worst. Getting to be 28th worst defense is a monumental task. It is not happening.

And if Dak has an off day and that will happen the offense will struggle.

I said before the season this is a 7-10 team at best. That still stands, and maybe worse than that now even a bigger task to win 6 of next 13. That's almost playing 500 ball and can't see a path forward to achieve that.

So far his scheme is fit the players to his scheme and it's obvious they don't

My prediction is if go 2-7-1 that fans will be unhappy and Jerry has to make.a.move and fire Eberflus

We are close as far as team vs team, Individual talent on the other hand is terrible on the Def side.

Close but no cigar..... But what did anyone expect? No one had lofty goals for this team and new HC, no one gave them a shot.

For me, I feel shotty is proving his doubters wrong 1 week at a time and i'm loving it.

I honestly don't know how to get through to you; it's almost at the point of not even trying to. Do you know the difference between giving up on the season and not thinking we have a chance to win with the roster on hand? The problem with your line of thinking is that it's exactly 100% of how Jerry and Jr have run this team for 30 years. We are good enough to make it with a playoff game, but not good enough to win all the games. The only way this team could have a "chance" is to go on a spending spree and trade the next 5 years of picks for a shot in the dark. We have started to build a promising group of young core players, and the next 2 years will have the opportunity to fill in MAJOR holes needed for success. We have players coming off of injury at "some" point this season, and they will likely have little impact.

Imagine Revis, Overshown, the 3 Tylers, Blue, Maffa and others developing over the next 1-2 years in conjunction with having early picks? This is the formula of success in the NFL, and this team is nooooooooowhere near where we all want them to be. I just don't get it man....

We have two elite units and one terrible one. If the defense can just become average, they have a chance.

Not expected miracles on defense, but all they need to do is not be terrible like they have been. Get a few stops, hell force teams to kick more FG's, maybe create some turnovers. In my opinion, they are a 7-9 win team if the defense improves marginally, say a top 25 defense not dead last.

That same Packer team dominated a SB contender in the Lions. Heading into this game, many thought they were one of the best teams in the entire league.

Jerry has been more reactive lately. He won't fire head coach unless it's total.disaster. if boos come. Jerseys don't sell. Seats are empty. It's either a trade or fire an assistant coach h.

We played two expected SB contenders to the final whistle. 1 game is one thing, but we have done it twice. Now they didn't win either game, but they were a play or two away. They cannot lay another egg against a bad team and must become more consistent.

That was my point. They would to be a top 15 type of defense moving forward for them to improve to a top 25 over the season. I don't see that happening. So probably next few games they continue to suck.
 
Why do people keep saying “no meal victories!” And then list a bunch of moral victories? Rockport just made the same thread a few days ago


If you desire to go hard on the moral victories then why aren’t moral victories acceptable?

We are close to what? Hanging out at the rim.
 
if your defense has a less than 50% stop rate on 3rd anf long (hell even 4th and long) your offense will not be good enough to keep you above water.. dont care who the offense is. This defense has to improve ALOT or this offense will just be keeping games close enough to be enjoyable but we will lose alot of them...thats just a fact.
