I lived in DC for eight long years, it stunk. That place has no quality of life. Ramsey would benefit from a fresh start, so would Harrington. All I'm saying is that Johnson is a big mistake if we go that route.

Ramsey had that fresh start when he went to the Jets who has a broken down Pennington and he couldn't even stick as the back up there.

Harrington had his fresh start in Miami but they thought so much of him that they are letting him go to put their fortunes in a busted up Cullpeper.

These are the guy you want over a solid vetern.

Please don't ever apply to be our GM.

We, therefore, need to secure a quality #2. That person is NOT Bard Johnson.

Well, last time I checked Peyton Manning wasn't available so you have to get the best of what's available. And you need to find the guy who best "Fits" with what you are trying to do and Ramsey and Harrington isn't it.

At least Johnson would give us someone who doesn't need to be the center of attention to feel he is making a contribution.

Sure. YOu would get some guy who can't stick with two rotten teams who have no QB and think they would be a great backup for us.

This is your answer to the great "What if" question you posed.

Yeah. Sure you would be.

Johnson is as viable a #2 as Herrington or Ramsey.

Looks like we're going to talk with the old fossil. Bad move if we sign this old grandpa as our backup. Dumb. Harrington or Ramsey, please.
first of all, young guys cannot help groom a young QB....and they would still try and compete for the starting QB job...that is bad for the lockeroom...plus Harrington and Ramsey have never won ....Brad was the starting QB on a Super Bowl team...he can provide valuable leadership...and he can manage a game better than those other guys. If our defense plays up to it's talent...and we become a better running team...all we need at backup is a guy that can manage the game

Brad Johnson=Drew Bledsoe....... No thanks!!!

How does a team player like Johnson who would be willing to help Romo = a guy who sulked on the sideline and hardly helped the young QB when he got pulled?

I don't see the paralell.

LOL...if he is not starting what is the big deal? I would like Bledsoe as a backup as well.

If Romo goes down, we will be hurting no matter who the backup is.

Difference between someone like Johnson and the other two names being used is that he is older and more willing to help Romo out.

So It really makes no difference if he equals drew bledsoe or not. People see these names and are thinking starter when we are trying to sign a backup.

I tell you people think starter when they see the term backup.

I want a backup that can play well if called upon but mostly be on the sidelines holding a clip board and helping out our starting QB either in the film room or during games.

Personally I really don't care who we get...Johnson, Ramsey, Harrington or the other names listed.

I just think it is funny watching some of these guys talk about the backups like they are going to be starters.

The one thing that would sway me on one guy over the other would be the money.

Well, that's exactly right. They are two different jobs. Which is why IMO that of the ones mentioned here, I would rather have someone experienced backing up an inexperienced Romo rather than have someone trying to gun for his job and not helping him out.

As a backup he would be perfect. He would actually teach and help Romo. He wouldn't stand on the sidelines and shuck seeds all game. He would actually involve himself in the progression of Romo because he is a very humble individual that has won the big game.... I, personally, believe signing Johnson would be a very smart move.

I see. So if Romo goes down in week 2 with a season ending injury, your okay with whoever we get??? Your theory is fine so long as the back up doesn't play for an extended period. However, in many cases the back up is forced to become da man. Brad Johnson is not the guy we would want in that situation.
