What about his own family? Isn't he from Galveston?
Interesting. I never knew where he was originally from. I just knew that the Williams' family was an instant connection.

I think for a fifth rounder, you almost have to make this move.

5th round is when you would start drafting projects. So either we spend a 5th on a player that may/may not contribute or even be on the roster in a couple years OR we spend it on a malcontent with proven talent. I say it's a no-brainer, we have to make this trade if there is any truth to it.

Frankly, I don't see any reason to make that trade.

The Broncos aren't going to pay his $3.4 million option bonus or his $2 million roster bonus. If they can't trade him, they're going to cut him.

But why would anyone want to trade for him, with that contract? He's due to earn $7.6 million this season, $5.7 million next season, $6.95 million in 2010 and $7.8 million in 2011.

Do you want to pay that much for a 29-year-old receiver who caught 26 passes for 287 yards and no touchdowns last season? If you do, just wait until the Broncos cut him, and he'll probably be ecstatic to sign that contract.

The Broncos WR I'd want is Brandon Marshall and he's not going anywhere.

Ehhh I don't really know who Javon Walker is and from what I have seen and read it doesn't sound appealing to me

Well that paints a slightly different picture, doesn't it?.

Yes. He is.

This deal makes a ton of sense for all involved.

It is a low risk deal if you are Dallas, it is a chance for Walker to get seen on a bigger stage and that 2nd Wr slot is open with Glenn likely retiring.

It is a bit like the Stallworth deal last year. The Pats wanted to add another guy and didn't want to commit long term but liked their minimal commitment.

Javon Walker could be a shell of his former self and still do well here as the 2nd WR. He obviously played well with a gunslinger at QB....

It is not like the Stallworth's deal last year because Dallas would be taking on Walker's existing contract as shown in Adam's post.

If they traded for him, shouldn't it be possible to negotiate a new contract?

There were a lot of us that liked him in the draft. A 4th rounder too.

Sure, but as Adam pointed out, you can do that after the Broncos are forced to release him with no draft pick compensation.

I think it would be a good pick up, Walker is a quality reciever. Denver isn't exactly known for their air attack, as a #2 or #3 in Dallas depending on the health of Glenn I think he brings more to the table then Crayton.

Yeah I get that, but say the Cowboys don't want to wait until he's released. It's why I was curious.

Dang, Adam keepin' it real again. That some serious contract concerns that would need to be renegotiated somehow. Those are Washington Commander kinds of numbers for a #3 WR.
