Yeah, but Mike Nolan among others show that being a so-so to lousy HC doesn't mean you can't be a good coordinator.

I still think Del Rio is a pretty good HC, though. He's won a lot with only pretty good talent over the years.
The question was Del Rio for DC. Even tho Del Rio has been a HC, I forget how much experience he's had as a DC. One year or so? I question whether he can do it. Similar to Singletary in that respect.

He's an OK head coach. I don't think he would have lasted near as long in Dallas with some of the results that he's had in Jacksonville.

What I want is for someone to get Garrett out of the family portrait.

2nd and goal from the one with the running game on pace for a 200+ yard night, what's the call? "Let's try the fade, and if it doesn't work then let's throw it again to our backup TE".

pure genius.

You think he could work well with a 3-4? I know he likes being aggressive. I'm sure he could be pretty creative in it.

No, that's the problem. I think he's strictly a 43 coach, and I don't think we really have the right personnel because he loves big, physical players, especially on the D line.

But if you want a youngish, energetic, fiery guy, I think he'd be a good one. Heck, the guy looks and acts like he could almost still play. And he has the Jerry (and Jimmy) connection from the good old days.

That's not happening. Garrett is staying. Whether we like it or not, he's going to remain OC or become HC. Just get used to the idea like me because he's going to be here for a long time.

I would hope that if Jerry was planning on promoting Garrett that he would've done so after last year's disastrous season. Really, the only rational reason for even considering bringing Wade back would've been because he was waiting on a Holmgren, Gruden or Shanahan who weren't available until after this season. Really, if his plan is to just to promote Garrett, then he really is a fricktard.

Jerry has manlove for JG and sees that we are the #1 offense. He's not going anywhere.

There's really one two reasons to have Wade come back: Waiting for one of the vet coaches out there who weren't on the market for this season or because Jerry is planning on Garrett taking over but didn't want to spend the money to buy out Wade. If it's the latter, then Jerry must really be tight on money with the stadium and all.

If Jerry plans on Garrett staying as the OC, then he's still back to forcing assistants on the head coach. I really don't know what's so difficult in allowing the HC choose his own staff - and if the HC decides to keep any of the current assistants then fine, but it should be the coaches decision.

But yeah, I'm sure Jerry plans on keeping him in one fashion or another, especially since he handpicked him and doled out $3 million/yr in order to keep him a year or so ago.

Garrett may become a very good HC, but in Dallas, he'll just be Jerry's boy. It'd be nice to have another Jimmy or Bill with some clout again.

What you wrote is what most of us WANT to happen. The reality is that it's not going to happen. We just gotta live with it.

I still think Jason could benefit from some tutoring and who better than Norm. I wouldn't think of it so well but he is a great OC and they probably think a lot alike. I'm just making an educated guess about them working together.

It could also be argued that Garrett may be given more leeway than any outsider given the long term relationship between Jerry and Jason.

Norv has been a great OC everywhere he has been. Some people are just not head coaches. He would be great in Dallas and you can bet he would have ran it more than 6 times in the 2nd half at Denver!

Could you immagine if Turner was our OC and had these three loaded guns on offense: Barber, Jones and Choice? Turner would be hunting and shooting down the competition. Instead we've got the redheaded nitwitt shootong holes through his legs and balls.

I could warm up to this.

Garrett - HC
Norv - AHC/OC
Del Rio - DC

I like it - but he is signed until 2012 -

plus Jerry had talked to him before he talked to Bill so I think there no way

Del Rio's coaching

He is in part credited for the success of the Ravens' defense, particularly the 2000 Ravens' defense. After the 2001 season, he was named defensive coordinator of the Carolina Panthers. In his first season as defensive coordinator, he led them to the second best defense in the league that season.

from 99 to 01 LBer coach in Balt

how about

Garrett as HC

Norv as OC or

Ken Zampese QB coach for Carson Palmer or
Hue Jackson QB coach for Flacco

DC would love Nolan but doubt it

Kirk Ferentz

Ron Aiken - Cards D line

Veteran college assistant coach Ron Aiken enters his third season with the Cardinals after being hired to coach the defensive line on 2/14/07. Aiken joined the Cardinals after spending the previous eight seasons at the University of Iowa coaching the same position

Jim Harbaugh he running a 3-4 D in college

In January 2009, Harbaugh was confirmed to have been interviewed by the New York Jets for the head coach position], although the job was eventually offered to Rex Ryan[6].

i must have a bad memory

i seem to remember the dallas offense being explosive until they got into the red zone when norv was the oc before...and then bogging down and forced to settle for fg time and time again...just like the current chargers offense

i was thrilled when he left the first time

i may be wrong but i thought the cowboys were really bad in the rz with norv
