I thought that if a player was suspended, He couldn't attend, games, practices, meetings, or workouts.

So If he's suspended for 8 games and we sign him tomorrow, he would be basically coming into a brand new system Nov 12th after we play the giants for the second time.

This is if he stays out of trouble for this long, and stays in shape. I would think he would need some time to learn the system and jell with the rest of the team, and earn the starting spot over the guys that have been playing all year. And remember at this point he hasn't played or practiced (with a team) the game in almost a year.

So if all this happens he might be back to his old self by the time we make the playoffs? If we make the playoffs. That is a lot of if's.

I think our time and money would be better spent on some one that could play now.

I guess I really don't have a name though, but i'd be willing to give Ratliff a Remi a shot while i'm scouring the league trying to find one.

What?

And Did yall see that tackle he had on special teams? That kid plays consistently hard. Kind of Bates-ish. I would love to find a spot for him on some kind of defense.

:D

Still no suggestions from you. I figured the gong beater would have some type of response. You got nothing?? Why am I not surprised?

.......Ummm, Im the one that started this thread. Whatever we come up with has to be AT LEAST SOMEWHAT realistic. In my initial post IVE ALREADY outlined what I feel our best coarse of action should be. A trade for Ted Washington. He is OLD but skilled and Cleveland as a rebuilding team can use all the draft picks it can get its hands on. Guess you Umm, didnt read that. ;)

What I found most amusing was when some poster said Washington wasnt a Wade Phillips type nose tackle. Gee, thats funny, Phillips was defensive co for the Bills 95 thru 98, he was head coach 99 and 2000. Just so happens that Washington played NOSE TACKLE for Phillips and the Bills all of those years. Matter of fact as soon as Phillips left,......so did Washington. Gee, if Washington isnt a Phillips type of Nose tackle ole son of a bum sure has a funny way of showing it.....:laugh2:

Yeah, and I already told you the problems with that. First of all, you have to trade for him, and give up draft picks. And then how do you even know if he's on the trade block? Finally, everyone knows we need a NT. I'm sure CLE isn't going to give us a break i.e. let us have him for an expendable draft pick, especially when it looks like we took the Number 1 pick next year from 'em.

PS... At Washington's age, he'll probably be worn out come December. Probably not someone I want anchoring my DL when we get into the playoffs.

.................O.k ,I give. Your right and im Wrong. We should just go ahead and sign Tank Johnson. If all goes well he should be ready by ohhhhhhh , sometime in late November. Until then I guess we can just carry the torch for him. :bang2:

Like I said, if you feel you are CLOSE to getting to a Superbowl then you go ahead and blow a 4th to make that trade. Cleveland is HORRID and needs all the picks it can get to rebuild, think they would jump at the chance. We basically RENT a player for a season to help us get to the BIG SHOW for the cost of a 4th round pick.

too many Jobs on the line in Cleveland... I cant see them making any move that cause this team to lose more games!!!

NT Solution:
Move Pat Watkins to free safety, Ken Hamlin to SS, and Roy Williams to NT.
At NT, Roy will become UNBLOCKABLE!
Synchronized with edge rushes from Ware and Spencer, Roy's pressure from the middle will become the nightmare scenario for our opponents.

Does the bye week count for 1 of those weeks of the suspension? 6 weeks (if he behaves) with one being the bye week is not too bad. I think we should go after him... if we are serious about contending for a super bowl. He can be there when the games really matter.
