Not a Single Carry for Felix?

Having Murray has been the biggest difference maker for us as a team this season. Against the Patriots, we lost and one of the things that Garrett stated was that "Sometimes, you have to be able to run the ball." Today, we did just that and it was a joy to see us run the clock down and eat up their time outs in setting up the game winner as time expired.

It was Murray Time out there. Our 4 minute offense could not have been much more effective. We can improve, but we were effective in a great way out there today.

Murray is the real deal. And that has been a long time in coming around here.

:starspin

Yeah I was nice to sit there and see us be able to run clock like that with the run. Hopefully we can get Felix more involved so Murray can be more fresh at the end of games.

Short week and Felix is just now coming back from injury. Now we have 10 days to get him in rhythm and into our game plan. I love what Murray brings to the table but we are going to need Felix to spell him and keep him fresh.

If we are going to win in December, we are gonna need a running game. I expect Felix to be a part of it.

Is it me or has Felix gained a few pounds? He looked thick and slow out there. I hope gets back to his speedy, elusive self. It makes us that much better.

I was saying the same thing. I was like Felix looks like hes running the 40 in 5.0 now.

Not you at all. He looked almost fat on those KO returns.:

Trying to make sure we don't throw Felix back out there on an ankle that he was listed as "questionable" on the injury report, is my guess.

But Murray should get the bulk of the carries. Felix can still be used on passing downs, etc.

The Cowboys offense is lacking explosive plays. They are grinding. This team needs Felix Jones involved in the running game. I still think Garrett will feed Felix the rock before its over. Jones has still been limited in practice, and Garrett is just holding that Joker. That card will be played; just wait.

Felix is listed at 217 this year. Jones averaged 215 in 2009. Jones stated that he weighed 215 in early October of 2010. Jones is 5-10, 217. He's not a small guy to begin with. Also, white makes you look bigger.

Jones never had an opportunity to turn on the jets.

The jets were on against the Commanders earlier in the year, and Jones was listed at 217.

I was surprised Jones didn't get 1 rush in that game. Jones looked really good on his first two carries at Washington. However, like I said and it has been pointed out above, Jones was still limited in practice. Garrett thought he could afford to hold the Joker today, but it was dicey.

Jamie Dukes stated that Dallas needs to get Felix Jones going and have "that two-headed monster".

He caught a pass, or two, but yeah no carries. They're going with Murray and I think if you were watching you know why.

Murray makes plays even when the blocking isnt there. He had some BIG runs, IMO, on that final drive. The kid runs hard and smart.

The Dolphins pretty much stuffed Murray today in the running game. Murray averaged 3.9 YPC, and the Dolphins were giving up 3.8 YPC on the year. Did you see the holes and daylight the offensive line was opening up during the final drive? Murray gave them credit. Murray had daylight on that last drive.

The Dolphins are giving up 3.7 YPC now and giving up 97.5 rushing yards per game. Murray didn't rush for Miami's average rushing yards allowed.

Murray did get his rushing total up to 87 yards on that last drive, and that was good.

I saw Murray's total yards line, for the game, run across the t.v. screen.

Murray had 26-128 (4.92 YPT)

Last Thanksgiving, Felix Jones did this to New Orleans:

20-113 (5.65 YPT)

I don't know, Jones may never touch the football again in Dallas, but Jones' Thanksgiving last year was better than Murray's this year. If Roy Williams doesn't fumble, Jones would have finished the Saints off last year.

DeMarco Murray isn't playing the Rams, Bills, and Eagles (the suspect version) now.

Murray had two legit run defenses hold him to 2.9 YPC and 3.95 YPC.

Plus, Fiammetta is out.

Murray is a good football player, but I'm still not buying the Dallas Cowboys winning the NFC East without Felix Jones.

Jones' weight actually averaged 216 in 2009, not 215 like I stated above.

2009: 216 average

2010: 215 (according to Felix Jones himself in early Oct. 2010)

2011: 217 list weight

Felix Jones is Dallas' fastest, most explosive player on offense. Just ask the coaches in the division. Jones has torched them all.

Can your agenda be any less obvious? The Dolphins are a pretty good run defense, yet when we needed to run the clock out, here were the last couple of runs from Murray with 2:59 left in the game. It's 4th quarter, the game is on the line, and everybody is tired:

2nd and 4 - Murray up the middle for 6 yards (1st down - clock ticking)
1st and 10 - Murray left end for 9 yards (clock ticking)
2nd and 1 - Murray up the middle for 3 yards (another 1st down - clock ticking)
1st and 10 - Murray off right tackle for 4 yards (clock ticking)
2nd and 6 - Murray right end for 5 yards (clock ticking)
3rd and 1 - Romo positions himself for the game winner by our Pro Bowl Kicker

Murray had it going and could have easily converted another 1st down if we needed it. So by my math, with the game on the line, that's 5 carries for 27 yards. That's 5+ ypc right there. Murray is easily our best back. He even caught all 4 balls thrown his way to demonstrate the catching skills he came out of OU with.

If Felix could finish games the way Murray can, we win the opener against the Jets, the home game against the Lions, and we close out the game against the Pats - and keep the ball out of Tom Brady's hands in NE. I'd be willing to bet that we win all 3 of those games with Murray as our workhorse. Even in the Philly game, he gashed them for over 80 yards in less than 10 carries.

Bottom line: Murray is an every down back that has the power to run between the tackles, soft hands out of the backfield, and has the speed to take it to the house. I'm all for getting Felix back in the mix (when he is healthy), but not as the starter. That job is Murray's for the foreseeable future.
