Not a Ted Ginn Fan but man...

PUT himself in a position to be maimed. Of all the stupid posts that is right up there. The guy does not do the stupid celebration thing that has gotten players injured. His team mates JUMPED him wrestled him around and injured him. Yet JSNTO claims it was GINS fault. Pretty pathetic.

It just goes to show you how much "hate" there is for Ginn.

I would definitely take him just not in the first round

Amen, IR.

Another way to look at it is, "Who would I be most worried about if an opponent got him?" Some of these WRs in the draft wouldn't scare me a bit if the Eagles or Giants got them. But if they got Ginn, I'd be worried.

You can't gamble with every pick, but when you're at the bottom of the first like we are, and the guy doesn't have any character or work ethic concerns, I would go with the guy with special talent if he's still there.

At this point I'm hoping for Ginn at #22. I don't like drafting WR's in the first round, but I don't really have anyone else I like in that range (I liked Nelson a lot before Hamlin).

I've always said draft the guy you think is most likely to end up on the Ring of Honor in the first round, even if they do carry a large bust factor. You can find "solid" and "servicable" hole fillers in free agency, but you can't find special. Striking on one perennial All Pro type of player makes up for a couple of busts. Ginn has special talent, even if he does carry a large bust factor (then again, all WR's do). I'd rather have Ginn's upside over somebody like Jarrett, who also carries huge bust potential but who's ceiling is nothing more than a poor man's Keyshawn. Plus, this would be an ideal situation for Ginn since he wouldn't be asked to contribute immediate as a WR and could spend a couple of years polishing his WR technique and being a difference maker in the return game.

My name is tyke1doe and I approve both these posts. :) ;)

Also, remember, Ginn still will benefit from the Cowboys' weight program. I say he can bulk up to about 190 and still not lose any speed. It seems his speed is in his long legs.

I remember Woody's Girl saying Terance Newman looked like he had another body after a season of weight training.

Even if Ginn is a bust, I think you still take the gamble if he's there at #22. His upside is enormous. And even if he's a decoy, he's one more player you have to gameplan for.

Another question for those knocking Ginn for just being a return guy.

Would Devin Hester been worth a 1st round pick given what we know of him today, especially where the Bears drafted last year?

Of course, he would.

If Ginn gave the Cowboys only what Hester gave the Bears in TDs on punts and kickoffs and excellent field position a majority of the time, I'd take him in a heartbeat.

Give me a fricking break on the "stats" thing. That is one criteria and not a huge one in my world. Ask Andre Ware or David Klingler how well the incredible stats worked out for them...

So you really have no reason for liking Ginn over Jarrett? You refuse to acknowledge statistics, so what is it? In love with a 40 time that Ginn hasnt even run?

Ginn is much faster then Jarrett. Accept that. Jarrett will at best be a poor mans Keyshawn Johnson. At best.

And you know this...how? Okay Miss Cleo, tell me who is going to win the 08 election while you are at it. I would think you would have a little more respect for him after seeing his dominance for 3 straight years over your team.

You make it sound like Ginn didn't have any success period... And that's just flat out wrong.

If Ginn had like 10 catches for 120 yards and 1 TD on the year I'd say you had an argument. But don't be throwing college stats around like they are the "end-all" because they aren't. They are one piece of the pie. As someone else said, "Jarret has TE skills"... I agree with that. He's a decent prospect but if I had to select Ginn or him, I'm taking Ginn because he offers far more upside potential in my opinion. Speed is an incredible weapon and Ginn would require double coverage. Jarret wouldn't require double-coverage because he can't get separation. He's not going to scare a defense with his speed.

That is funny coming from you JSNTO. Considering how bad the Irish D is what does that prove? Jarret is not a game breaker. He is a possession WR and that is that. He will NEVER be a true #1 WR. We have a good young possession guy in Crayton already.

I totally agree! But I also think that Ginn could be a very productive receiver in a couple of years, maybe even a #1, I mean, look at Steve Smith in Carolina. Ginn isn't going to start for us, he will be the 4th wr on the team, so don't worry about him or any other rookie receiver when looking at that part of the game. Ginn is someone that every week the opposing special teams will have to prepare for, and defensive coordinators will worry about special plays designed for Ginn. Ginn can be a great offensive weapon with his skills. Even if the ball didn't go to Reggie Bush, every defense had to account for him on every play. And that is what Ginn would do. Here is a question to ask yourself, would you want to defend Ginn, if your answer is no, then you must see why it would be so much better for us to have him.

Saying the guy hurt himself.

Or even that he put himself in a position to get himself hurt...Unbelievable.

Sort of sounds like JSNTO is spreading his hate around some - From ND to OSU.

I've watched enough of Ginn and Jarrett to fall in love with both of them. As I said I see Ginn as having an immidiate and explosive impact, and I hope he is there at #22.

But I agree with a previous poster who said Ideally you have a speed/deep threat guy, and a big, physical, make the tough catch in traffic on third down guy.

I think we have both now, and their both going to need to be replaced soon, so in that regard I'm glad that there is a Jarrett and A Ginn Jr. available.

Either one would make my day. These were both guys that while I watched them in college, said to myself, "mann if we could trade up and get this guy!" So the fact there is even a possibility that we could get either one is exciting to me.

If we get Ginn, then we get our "big" WR later. If we get Jarrett, then we get our deep threat later, although there might not be a deep threat like Ginn for years, thats why he is my #1 choice.
