Mahomes.
Him being drafted where he was shows us its possible to find a generational qb in the teens as long as you have the right Guys making the decisions.
Or, if you have a competent coaching staff, you can turn a decent QB into a good QB, or a good QB into a great QB.

I totally get the opinion that a bus driver+ is fine.

Where do you get that he’s a bus driver? He passed for almost 5000 yards this season and had 30 TDs. You call that a bus driver? He carried the Cowboys for most of the season. Some of you need to take the blinders off to get a better view of what he did this season. He had three 400 yard games this season and that’s a bus driver? lol

you shouldn't need coaches to turn you into. great qb. You need certain skills coming in. Dak has average accuracy and a average arm.

Yea he carried us to 8-8. We spent more time trying to make Dak the focal point and ignored our best player. When Zeke is the focal point we go to the playoffs. When Dak is the focal point we go 8-8.

A, I said bus driver+, implying he was more than that but also short of elite or franchise, and B) he lost one of those 400 yard games and the other two were against teams with a combined 7 wins.

The guy has 5, count 'em 5, 1st round picks in the lineup around him out of 11 starters. None of them significantly out of their prime.

I know exactly what he did this season. He QB'd an above average roster to 8-8 in by far the worst division in football, and often got most of those stats you mentioned when the game was largely out of hand and defenses were playing off.

Not bus-driver per se. But those are very much some empty stats given the results.

Mahomes was picked at 10. Watson at 12. Brady in the 6th round. Wilson in the 3rd. Rodgers I forgot but t was a later round. It’s perfectly reasonable and profound to get a QB at 17 in the first round. QB is a problem. Maybe not a #1 problem, but definitely in the top 5 or 6 problems behind coaching, defense, and special teams.

I’m tired of this “drafting is a crapshoot” narrative. Did that stop the Chiefs from overthrowing Alex Smith to get Mahomes? Nope. Did it stop the Texans from getting Watson? No. Did it stop the Ravens from getting Jackson? No. Need I continue? Teams take RISKS. Risks PAY OFF majority of the time. Dallas must’ve really gotten into your head because you’re settling for mediocrity just like Jerry Jones and Jason Garrett. Yes, I want to use our first round pick on a QB and save the rest for defense. Get a new punter in FA or a undrafted rookie.

Edit: do not rule out trading. It may take a lot, but I say we attempt to make a trade for Mahomes. He’s cheap right now and has a good mentality and his an amazing QB with a high ceiling.

They wont give up mahomes unless it's something like the next 10 1's and 2's

What QB for God's sake? Dak was top 5 picked in the 4th... what the Hell do you want?

He looked to me like the classic case of a quarterback who's arm got tired as the season went on and he doesn't have the arm strength for a tired arm.
He needs to drop about a 1500 yds off his passing stats and start using his legs and RBs.

Probably less than that. Zeke is always the focal point of defenses. Our running game, even in Zeke’s “bad year” is still getting the passing the game the looks it needs for a QB to succeed.

Defenses still focused on Zeke and when Zeke actually got the ball, we won. The Rams game was basically Zeke.

Aww yes... The Dak haters have been chomping at the bit for this thread. Hhahahhha..

Can't say I blame them. Yep, Dak pretty much did stink up the joint this past month. He had help too, but, come on. The accuracy was terrible. So were his WR's. He bailed them out, they bailed him out. Still, needed to be better.

I say let the next HC find out if he wants Dak or not. Same goes with Coop, hell and pretty much any player on the roster. Let that HC and staff figure out who they want and who leaves.

I like Dak, but, he, unlike other players won't be missed if that is not the direction the new HC wants to go.

Dak-Zoids are will to wait 10 years for Dak to learn the over the shoulder pass. I mean it hasn't been a quarter of a century since we played in a championship game has it???:omg:

I bet if you go back to their history of posting, they were the same guys saying Garrett was the next Tom Landry a decade ago. But since they fell in love with Dak, they needed a scapegoat, so they took a page out of their mentor, the Red-Headed One, and turned on him.

I think he looked better this year than in previous years when it came to putting up stats. But in previous years, he was better in the clutch. HE has a lot a lot of room for improvement. I think he really needs to improve presnap and in the redzone. He was mediocre in the redzone. Great qbs are really good in the redzone no matter who they play. He also needs to get more consistent with his mechanics and that'll stop him from throwing behind the receiver.
there wasn't much impressive about the entire team in that stretch. hard to put it on one player when the team is so vanilla and uninspired.

i do think dak made a lot of improvements in his game. he just can't carry the entire team and there are very few players in the league who can do that.

He played with an injured finger and shoulder that final month. He clearly regressed later in the year probably due to injuries but he still had a very solid season.
He sucked when it got tight and mattered. He’s a loser just like the rest of the clowns we trotted out of the locker room week after week.
