I mean the offense as a whole is top 3 in points and top 10 in yards. So as a whole, hes unit is performing fine.

His QB hinders him so much. Every play that doesnt work “kellen sucks!” “This is some horrific playcalling!”

Before halftime, with a chance to blow the game open, he called a read option. For some reason, the QB decided to pitch it to pollard when he easily scampers for a first down had he kept it.

fans: KELLEN SUCKS OMGGZ!
WillieBeamen......with all due respect:
1. Why we running our QB in the first place.....that got Dak a dislocated ankle. (Dak fault & overpaid?)
2. Why we running pitch plays to Zeke, when he getting yards in the middle? (Zeke fault & overpaid?)
3. Why is Gallup not in the game plan? (Gallup fault & got paid?)
4. Why are we bunching WRs up frequently and running failed pick plays (Shultz & Brown) that yielded a PICK alrright.....a pick six.....a game-ending pick six.
5. Why are we abandoning the run once JAX got close?
6. Why are we using plays from the Poulan Weedeater Bowl archives? (My take)
7. Why are DL in the backfield so early? (formations tipping the plays?)
8. Why was Tony Pollard a non-threat yesterday? (Zeke fault?)
9. How long will it take to find a JAX player say "We knew what they were doing."
10. Why don't Air Coryell Jr take his #$#$ up to the press box to call plays instead trying to be like McVay or Shanahan? (My take)
11. Why don't our OC grab a Sitiuational Football 101 book from Borders or Bam, or maybe the local library? (My take)

Youre right. Wins do matter

Cooper Rush- 4 wins 1 loss .800 win %

Dak Prescott- 6 wins 3 losses .666 win %

Rush >>>>> Dak

:lmao2::lmao2::lmao2::lmao2:
Not only that Rush faced teams with a OL and receiver core no where near as developed as they are now.
We'll see how Dak preforms against the eagles and wash to get a good comparison.

Consistently inconsistent.

He made a few brilliant throws today, and some gritty runs too.

He also threw a momentum changing interception, and then a game losing interception.

More of the same....
Dak and Moore are perfect for each other - they both can look great one series and then have you scratching your head the very next one. Both bi-polar, and we get the rollercoaster ride that it is

Other things matter as well. Rush didn't have an OL playing as well as they did after him- they kept getting better by the week. But Rush made quicker decisions and got the ball out faster, so he didn't get those killer sacks Dak gets. But Rush did have the top, or one of the top defenses carrying the team then to. Once Dak came back the OL continued to get better and better, but the defense has turned to crap. Daks consistently scored 30 plus points a game, which would have easily won all these games with the defense that was playing when Rush was starting.

Mods if you don't mind put this crap into the merged Dak thread. Thanks in advance. The rest of us don't want to read this dumb crap all day.

well, you were benched shortly after this so you were spared sharing the same space with the rest of the commoners. We will truly miss your nuanced sophistication dearly…….

I think the thing that frustrates is that some of us were trying to talk about ranking Dak accurately before he got paid.

Dak sits around 10th-14th best QB in the league for mine.. and that hasn't really changed. he is not woeful.. despite what I might feel at times.. he isn't a basket case. The issue is that he is not elite.. so you either need a highly paid but ELITE QB or you need a rookie 'average/above average' QB. You can't have a highly paid and average QB.. it just doesn't work.

So the only guys that I believe should be getting that elite money are guys that have actually shown their worth.. like Mahomes, Allen, Burrow, Herbert, Brady, Rodgers.. with Brady and Rodgers holding the 'age caveat'.

I also think you would look at Jackson and Watson (previous to off field issues) and could make a case of big contracts..

The hard guys are QBs like Dak and Cousins.. guys that are solid, will get you plenty of wins (yes Kirk wins plenty) but they aren't "the guy".. So what do you pay them? And that is where I think we blinked first.. I would have tagged Dak again.. given him a season to show it.. and if he didn't then moved him on. I think they overestimated him greatly and we are now straddled with an impossible contract.

We won't be the last team to overpay an average QB.. but I think teams are getting smarter. We are seeing Rookies get more time at QB than ever before and teams are not afraid to turn through guys.. particularly the newer breed of rushing QBs.. teams are seeing they can get 3-4 good years out of them and then move on. Teams are being far more selective around who they give those big QB dollars too.. I think Jimmy G saw that.. and Brady/Rodgers have seen that.. The Wilson debacle at Broncos has also shown the lead that QB trading can be messy. I think we will see far few big contracts given to mediocre QBs in the future. I think teams will be far more willing to invest in other areas and 'wait' for their QB to find them.
Fantastic post and I have been saying the same for years. I fully agree that this is how the new approach will shake out. Teams will ride rookie contracts of QBs with enough strengths to win games then blow their nose and move on before paying them market rate in turn knee capping the team with an average Joe on elite money whilst the top 5-8 QBs in the league are retained and paid accordingly. Dak Prescott is not in the elite bracket or top 5-8 QBs in the league. I agree that the front office were ignorant and delusional in believing Prescott is on the same level as a Mahomes or an Allen. He isn't and never will be yet was paid like them.

The front office watched a backup QB go 4-1 with the same team that the franchise QB has gone 6-3. It's a team game but ultimately would the team have won the same 6 games with Rush over Prescott...if so then why on earth would a well run company pay someone $40 million more for the same team performance.

It’s almost like those of that argued Dak is a 14-17 QB and shouldn’t have been paid were right. It’s 7 years, this is who Dak is. An average QB who people try to prop up more than he is. Just wait until he has to play on a truly bad team as his cap hit gets bigger. If the Cowboys were smart they would tell him they are going to bench him next year or he can waive the no trade clause. Then move on. You can get the same results from a QB making 1/40th he does. Jerry and Stephen don’t admit when they’ve made a mistake though, so probably won’t happen. Many of us said the contract was a mistake. It’s being proven now. Anyone arguing Dak is trash or great are playing with hyperbole. He is an average middling QB, who has shown it over and over again. Paying him was a large mistake that will set this team back.

We played a backup and didn’t get the same results. Don’t think paying someone league minimum and expecting the same results will work.

actually that league minimum kept the season alive. And he’s only played in 6 career games. If he was given the leash Prescott has had, we might have just as good or better results. With that said I agree Rush is not the answer and I don’t think anyone would make the argument for him to be paid big bucks. Prescott is not the answer either. But, it’s proven this team doesn’t need Prescott to win, they carry him to wins. There is no reason to keep him for that scenario. The only short term plausible way to move on and actually help the cap is a trade which would have to be forced. Teams have done t before. It’s been 7 years, no one can tell me with a straight face Dak is the answer or elevates this team. The team elevates him. He’s inconsistent, one read and average.

Pretty much every statistic that evaluates QB play would say otherwise about Dak but you’re entitled to your opinion.

Also - if your expectation for a QB is to elevate a team to wins and mask all of the deficiencies you’re going to be disappointed for your entire life as a fan.

I don’t think anybody truly hates Rayne Dakota Prescotta…..they just hate his Inconsistency and newfound penchant for throwing picks…..nothing personal

Nope. Actually the opposite, look at Daks career. There are games he plays well and at least 5-7 per year that he’s bad. If the team is not running the ball well and getting TOs he’s not that difference maker. And you’re flat out wrong, when you pay a QB 40 million a year is is exactly that to mask a teams deficiencies, you don’t pay the QBs who can’t. I’m not making the argument that others on the team don’t need to play better, but they aren’t the franchise QB making 49 million next year. So, I guess I ask you this. Seeing what you’ve seen, do you go back in time and still sign Dak to that contract?

Outside of 2 maybe 3 guys in the NFL who is elevating their team to wins? Who’s masking significant weaknesses and winning in the playoffs?

Well I would’ve signed him closer to the 30+ million the year before but Jerry and Stephen blew that. And yes, if I’m getting top 10 play then Id 100% make the deal again.

You’re not getting top 10 play. So you would or wouldn’t make the deal? Are you saying at this point Dak is top 10? We can be the Chiefs who weren’t scared to try and replace their middle of the pack QB, or we can be scared and settle for average. Highly paid average. Here are QBs with a skill set to be a difference maker that Dak simply doesn’t possess. There is a reason he was a 4th round QB. In no specific order

Mahomes
Allen
Burrow
Brady (he’s on the decline though) still would rather have him then anyone with one drive left to get a championship, he has that quality)
Jackson
Rodgers
Lawrence
Herbert

These QBs all have some sort of talent to make wow plays to take a loss and turn into a win. Dak simply doesn’t have that talent. Now we could get into other QBs who are better, because there are 7 to 8 more who if aren’t better it’s hard to make the argument they aren’t. The guy has 7 years. He’s middle of the pack Dak. You don’t pay for that. My guess is nothing would ever make you say that though, if you truly think he’s top 10.

So far this season, Dakota is currently 16th in QBR

Qbs that we clown like Daniel Jones, Geno Smith, Marcus Mariota, Jared Goff, Jacoby Brissett, and Derek Carr, all have a higher QBR than Dak

Of the 15 QBs in front of him, only Mahomes, Jackson, and Goff have a higher cap hit than Dakota in 2022.

For the past 6 seasons, the Dak supporters flaunted his numbers as a barometer of the level of QB he is.

And before anyone says im nitpicking one stat, he ranks 19th in EPA, 14th in traditional passer rating, 32nd in Int%, 18th in air yards per attempt, and his Qbr is lower than Cooper Rush’s

His play has been a big issue all season long
Thanks for the post, I've been posting for some time now about how severely flawed Prescot's game is. He reminds me of "FOOLS GOLD" it's all nice and shiny, but it's WORTHLESS, just like Prescot's game. He has these huge stats that don't mean nothing when he accumulating them against lousy teams or teams that have large leads on the Boys and jump into a prevent defense. Unfortunately for the Cowboy Nation, this club isn't going anywhere until he's traded or released.
