NOW how does the trade look

By some people.....he failed at somethings but he left the team MUCH better off than when he took over.
:laugh2: like thats saying a lot especially with all the money that he basically stole from jerry. Fact is this was one of BP's many failures here in dallas, hurts me more cause of one my best friends is a Rams fan and he never lets me forget how we missed out on getting Jackson and instead got jones...

Frankly, most of the arguments being made, like "BP wanted Jones over Jackson anyway" and "if we'd only had one draft pick, Parcells wanted Spears over Ware" simply make Bill Parcells sound like the same idiot knowitall who also drafted Peterman and Rogers in rounds 2 and 3. Typical coach being too involved in the draft scenerio.

Exactly

Parcells made a mistake trading down when he could have had Jackson...I don't care if he wanted Kevin Jones or Julius Jones...He was wrong.

I agree w/ ndanger here, what's the point of crying about something that happened over 2 years ago? we can't fix the past, we can only deal w/ it, sad to say

even though Spears hasn't lived up to expectations, I haven't seen a better DE that we could have drafted other than Castillo who we passed on, that should be the real gripe IMO

Well the thing is I don't think anyone is really crying about it. It's recent Cowboys history and it's something that is somewhat controversial and therefor I see no reason why it doesn't warrant discussion. We can't fix the past, that is true, but we can talk about it and debate about whether or not their is even something that we would want changed. Some say that they are fine with the trade, others say it was a poor choice, the simple fact that their are differing opinions that are so evenly split gives cause for discussion.

But yes, passing on Castillo can be considered a mistake too. Even passing on Merriman can be considered a mistake (although I don't believe that) and is fair game for discussion. Some may say that these topics have all ready been discussed to death and therefor should just be dropped, but the fact that this is an online community that is constantly gaining new members means that their are in fact people on here who haven't discussed these issues. I see no harm in people talking about this and I don't even understand why people who say "Just move on and don't talk about it" even bother clicking on these threads. They bring nothing to the discourse of a topic that is widely divided and, ultimately, detract attention from the issues the thread was created to discuss and we end up with posts like this (mine) where people have to defend their right to talk about something.

How about getting bored as the same people post the same things about the same subject 100 times. Its incumbent on Newbies if they want to be respected to look around on the board, and if there is 5-10 threads in the last few weeks on EXACTLY the same thing then maybe they should use their heads for something other then a hat rack and IF they are going to start a thread pick one with less recent use.

I would take Steven Jackson over all of them! I would have then and I would now!
Jackson averaged 4.4 to Jones 4.1 last season behind first year starters Colombo and Kosier and worthless Rivera. Jones and Spears > Jackson.

From here it looks like you can't get over your tantrum that the team didn't do what you wanted them to.

Out of curiosity, how many times have you held your breath until you passed out?

why do people insist on calling something "crying" when they dont want to hear it? Its not a good way to get your point across.

face it,,,bp messed up here...this was his worst stop...he lost the players...screwed up on pics and the players he got didnt do what they could have...he should have adjusted to the players...we have some talent on this team...why wasnt it used?

I saw him in a replay of the pro bowl and that guy is just a beast! He's Ricky Williams without the issues. I'm so pissed that we didn't grab him when we had that chance it's not even funny. Instead we get the little balarina.

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And auld lang syne?

You can't select every good player, Pro Bowl player, Hall of Fame player each draft. You can only stay true to your board, allow the player (that you end up selecting) to play to the best of their ability and hope for the best.

There are no do overs. Ever. You scream and holler just like EVERYBODY else when your team passes on a certain player, get it out of system, and move on with life.

Don't get left behind.
