How do you explain the attention the Montreal diving team is getting from national media?

Its not just whining from a few Bruins fans anymore. The entire hockey world sees the disrespectful and embarrassing antics of this group of punks.

Maybe it's that ridiculous soccer chant they sing at the Bell Centre......

The gerbilization of the media. Remember, the Canadiens are the Cowboys of the NHL. Either you love us or you hate us, but you all have an opinion on us. We are also the only Canadian based team in the playoffs so we are getting all the coverage up here. CBC is populated by a number of Canadiens' haters who for most part are former Bruins like PJ Stock and Don Cherry. They only begrudgingly say anything good about us.

Punks, that is funny. Your are cheering for a team populated by Derek Head Butt Dorsett or is that Derek Snow little flag bearers Dorsett, Daniel the elbow Carcillo, Dan Boyle, Ryan Hatchet Man McDonagh, Benoit Pouliot, Matt Louganis Zuccarello, Chris "I love to run goalies" Kreider and you have the nerver to call the Canadiens punks?

Come on... You know you are thinking comeback from down 3-1 like rangers did in last series lol

Nah, we won't win tonight, it is preordained in Bettman's office. Our luck will run out in Manhattan.

Of course, if the Rangers do not win tonight, I do not see how they win on Saturday given it will be their third straight seven game series.

I don't know man. Been watching hockey for a long time. I used to hate the Canadians because they were good. The good kind of hate. Hate with respect. Now I hate them because of the way they play the game. I personally abhor watching power play hockey. I understand it's going to happen because it can't be a free for all out there. Somewhere around the turn of the century the Habs lost their way and started playing a soccer style of hockey. At one time they might have been the Cowboys of the NHL. Now they are more like the Eagles. Their fans love them. Their rivals hate them. The rest pay no attention to them.

I think i'll move my hockey talk here form the Penguins message board I most frequently post at that has become insufferable. I was actually rooting for the Rangers this past round because this Habs team has so many players that I can't stand. I thought I didn't really care about the Kings and Hawks, but find myself getting back into the Kings again with their virtually perfect hockey. That series is incredible though.

The Kings are really, really fun to watch. They play hard but clean, good mix of skill and grinders...young and old. Just a really balanced, competitive team.

Honestly, I'd rather the Hawks win the series, I think the Rangers match up much better with them.

Ive pretty much expected this western conference final to be the matchup and to decide the stanley cup, but the rangers looked a lot better this series so it could be interesting.

The Western Conference team will be favoured but the Rangers will have some rest before the series and anything can happen in a series.

Canadiens went in favoured, lost Price in the first game and pretty much stopped being the favourite right then. We were a post away from winning game 4, lost in OT and boom series was pretty much over.

Kings and Hawks might think they have won the cup after winning the Clarence Campbell trophy. Tout est possible.

I don't think either of those teams make any assumptions, which is why they're vastly superior to most of the teams in the east. The Kings are so deep that they can afford to lose any of their key guys and still be fine. That includes Kopitar and Quick. The Hawks would probably be hurting pretty bad if they lost Toews because they aren't very deep down the middle, but otherwise they're deep throughout their roster as well...and their goalie situation might actually improve if Crawford was knocked out.

Two weeks ago I would have bet everything on whoever came out of the west. The Rangers have been very very impressive since they got Krieder back though. Lundquist is the x-factor and they kinda have that destiny feel about them. If their bottom six can keep it up they have a real shot. I like all three teams left a lot. Should be some great hockey ahead.

I see that some of the posts from after the final Mont/NYR game were deleted because it was getting too trash-talky. I understand. I did want to say one thing about that last game that I didn't mention in those posts. I thought Tokarski played great in that game. I thought the Rangers outplayed Montreal for most of the game, but Tokarski was awesome and gave the Canadiens a chance. Hats off to him. Actually, IMO, the only bad game he played was when the NYR goalies were even worse, so Montreal still won that game.

I thought this was a pretty good article summing up why the NYR beat the Habs:

As far as the finals, like most Rangers fans, I feel that we match-up better with the Blackhawks. I felt the same way about potentially facing Montreal as they were playing Boston. Rangers fans knew that, although Montreal was good, Boston was a tougher match-up for us. The Rangers will be underdogs in the finals regardless of the opponent, but I can see them possibly beating Chicago in a long, tough series.

Yeah, i've seen a ton of people talking about Price as the turning point of that series, but Tokarski was probably their best player and you can put his raw numbers up against anyone and he'll look good. The eye test matches up and possibly exceeds those numbers. He had a couple of softies, but overall he was great. He was certainly not the reason they lost the series and looking at the final game...he was far and away their best.

The Canadians lost because they got nothing from their top line. Their already weak depth on defense took another hit in this series but Tokarski bailed them out on that. The only way Price could have made a difference is if he could have scored a goal or two.
