These owners just didn't decide they wanted a fractured league.
They are just tired of Jones having a hissy fit because he drafted a great running back who beat a girl. And he might do it again. Yes, I know, I know. The biblical Zeke was not convicted. Neither was O.J., but the public knows the score about what he "didn't do."
Get over it, Jerry.
You want your own league? Go for it!
Take a year or two off, then just wait for the fans to come thundering back in gratitude.
Um, no, it doesn't work that way.
It seems that the HOF induction has gone to Jones' head. So, Jerry, after you wreck the league, the NFL can uninduct what it inducted. You want that? Nope, didn't think you did, you narcissistic old biddy.

hey guys I think we just discovered Tiffany Thompson's new significant other!

Looks like the Big Bullies balls got even bigger with them running rough shot over Zeke. I was surprised more players didn't stand up for Zeke. At some point someone need to stand firm and put Goodell in his place. Can you imagine how big his head would be if he can push Jerry around? The NFL is turning into organized crime organization.

Jerry and the NFLPA are now in agreement over several important issues, the most evident being the unchecked and unfair power that the commissioner has. JJ may have significant leverage, but the players can definitely call the shots.

Just wait until the next contract negotiations for the CBA; the PA won't get fooled again, and we'll probably have a lockout long enough to challenge and change the current NFL power structure.

There's no doubt that Jerry is a players' owner, and he'll be on their side (the right side) in this battle. Safety and administrative blindness to CTE will also be a part of this contentious fight.

If I were a wagering man, I'd bet on Jones.

- The Cowboys were recently selected to host the draft...at which I hope Roger Gotohell is mercilessly booed off stage.

It's Goodell's conduct that has proven detrimental to the league. And his reported contract demands are laughable. But apparently, some owners flat don't give a damn.

I'll be there to help on this......

The NFL is in trouble... It's getting old, its best years are behind it... It might not cease to exist within the next 10 years, but its popularity will never recover, and eventually it will go the way of horse-racing. Life-long fans like me already have one foot out the door, and we're really hoping the NFL does implode.

I do not think this. But the owners should wake up and see the problems for what they are.

Roger running the ship up onto the rocks.

When the owners see their profits start dropping they will figure it out.

I remember a time when the NFL was actually primarily about a contest that took place on a field between two teams.

I'm not sure what it's actually about anymore.
A pissin contest between players and refs.

Indeed. No doubt they're instructing this Sunday's officials to not call holding on the Eagles.

I noticed you couldn’t respond to my other reply to you in the other thread. Here’s your second chance. I’m asking you for an explanation so I can understand your point of view. Or you can continually use your “you said conspiracy” line and post what you think is a clever meme to deflect.

Let’s go over the rare and phantom calls lately and you can provide their equal to make your point. Since these type of poor calls are so widely discussed by other fans it’ll be easy for you.

1. The Dez catch. This was at the near end of the game and very likely concluded the outcome of the game. The Nfl would scramble to try to make the rule less clear to save face. Then change it again a year later.
2. Ironically, Cobb had a clear drop in the first half that lead to points. The reviews lasted about 20 seconds as opposed to Dez’s 3 minute review. Lots of time to think and consider. Bias could possibly come into the decision as opposed to the reaction call of the on field ref 4 ft. From the play.
3. Mathews drills Romo in the back with the crown of his helmet. Very very last. Hard to believe it was missed. No call. No first and goal from the 1 with Murray. Field goal.
4. No holds all game which isn’t rare for one of the 3 darling teams of the nfl.
5. Last year the ultra rare(nearly unheard of by football experts) was the illegal substitution penalty. Cost the team 40 yards and at least 3 points on what would be a 3 point loss. Also, valuable momentum which can’t be measured. Except people that know football know what it is.
6. No holds again on Green Bay despite the last, and most key play of the game, Irving being blatantly held tackled and nearly choked. Literally. This no call lead to the winning points.
7. This years Green Bay they call roughing on our player for leading with the crown of his helmet and not making any contact with Erin. Simply the intent, it appears, was enough.
8. We’ve seen at least 4 hits to Dak’s Head that were blatant and not called. A judgement call that’s hard to miss these days. You’d think.
9. Two receivers who were defenseless were blind sided directly in front of the ref. No call.
9. This year a the streak of 6 games with one hold which was meaningless and on a receiver. All while our all pro line has been called for 18 holds during the same streak. Several brought back long runs by Zeke.
Holds can be called every play. Except they aren’t being called on the other team. At all for 6 games.

There will be a long work stoppage. I don’t think scabs will work this time. There’s too many other interests. Fans will move on. Some while it’s settled and some for good or a long time.

Tho owners have had their way. I predict it’s over.

This is laughable.

The only people who have been detrimental to the league is the Spy Gate evidence burning commissioner and him favoring certain league owners over others to the detriment of its integrity that is seen in the eyes of many fans. This was even before all of the DV issues and national anthem controversy that is causing the league negative publicity and loss of revenue.

Goodell works for the owners (all of them). He's a shield for negative public criticism and effectively their personal lackey. This entire Goodell situation stinks to high Heaven of collusion between certain owners in a subset of all of them. The fact that anyone thinks the guy is worth $50 million per year and all of his other contract demands is a joke.

I find this concerning. What we all forget is that the physical evidence (as opposed to testimony) which led to Zekes suspension is not in the public domain. Looking at the timing, my guess is that the owners sought a confidential briefing on the evidence at the most recent owners meeting. This reaction - which is 100% owner driven suggests the owners are not happy re Jones's public stance and attack on RG given what they (and Jerry) really know about the evidence that led to the suspension.

You are just making crap up .........

I declared that if they give Goodell and extension then I'm done with the league until he's removed as the commissioner. But if they give Jerry a fine or any penalties, I'll be done with the league for likely forever regardless of Goodell's status as commissioner. Quite frankly, the refereeing in the Atlanta game was a joke and I suspect that we'll start seeing more lopsided refereeing.

I am insulted by the notion that the owners sent this letter. I don't think Jerry is being unreasonable. He's not even stating to get rid of Goodell. He's just saying that it's silly to give him an extension *now* when he has 18 months of his contract to go and that every owner should vote on the extension and compensation...not just 6 owners. But those 6 doofuses who are going to help ruin the league won't consider that and that has forced Jerry to file a lawsuit so they can consider it.

The only thing that will hurt to not watch or participate in NFL fandom will be:

1. It's in part due to how the league has treated my favorite team and I hate to see me punish my favorite team because of the things the league has done.

2. I really like EE and I would like to see him get his redemption.

3. I really like a lot of the players as people such as Dak, Witten, Beasley, Sean Lee, Byron Jones, Tyron, etc.

4. I really miss the days when I would watch the NFL all Sunday, the Sunday night game, the MNF game and then get my hands on anything I could with the NFL or read anything interesting. I loved bragging to people about how good the league was. This was back in 2006. But now I'm resorting to just watching Cowboys games because the league, quite frankly, appalls me.

But, the league has just about forced my hand to quit watching everything all together and never coming back. And I will be forced to root for the demise of the league.

I'm sure nobody will care and for that I will do my best to not get worked up about it.

They never took Al Davis' team away and he was much worse the Jerry. This is a non-issue.

Im not legal expert of anything of the nature on these subjects so forgive the complete lack of knowledge on this stuff....but how would they take his team away anyway?

I mean it's my understanding he bought the team. He paid for it. How would some one just decide they're going to come in and take what you've bought and paid for?

I'm no legal expert either but I suppose even though he owns the team he could be kicked out of the league. A team without a league is useless. Whether it would legally stand up in court is another matter.

They force him to sell. They can't just take it.

How would they do that? Is there some legal way they can make him sell the team?

I suppose as the other guy said they'd keep the Cowboys out of the league until he did?

I don't know how any of that stuff would work.

YR, any coincidence that RG became the commish in 2006?

What happened with Zeke may have amped up JJ's animosity for RG, but since May JJ has been saying slow up on the renegotiation process. This group of owners (Kraft, Mara, McNair) want to get the extension done before ratings decline further and/or some new controversy hits and RG bungles it. The appearance that RG could be beholden to this group of owners that are pushing for his contract extension should be disturbing to the rest of the owners.

I don't know how any of that stuff would work.

I don't know the details, I think it's something within the league by-laws/constitution where the owners can force one of their ranks out.
