NYG, Phil &Wash had better FA than Dallas

I don't think our division rivals have really outdone us in FA. Pretty meh across the board. Philly wasn't one player away on defense and their offense will most likely be putrid. NY has as many hole on offense as we do on defense. Washington is a mess if they think Fitz can lead them anywhere.

It's funny that I, and many others on this board, think Jerry is an incompetent buffoon. But let's be honest, Lurie, Snyder and Mara are really just as bad. As a whole the NFC East has probably four of the worst ten owners in the NFL.

Just saw an article that says Washington is the NFC East favorite. Made me laugh out loud. This team went 7-9 in one of the worst divisions in NFL history and that included a gift wrapped victory over the Eagles in week 17.

If the key pieces stay healthy Dallas wins the division easily. And they "won" free agency March 8 when they re-signed Dak in my opinion.

And if Dak signed with any of those teams, we’d be in trouble.
I forgot, did the deal fall through? I thought we signed the #1 free agent at the QB position.

Keep in mind the OP is most likely talking about improving through free agency. Dak was already on our team. Dallas had to pay more just to keep the status quo. That doesn't improve the team.

I don't think this division is going to be the crap it was last year. Lets not fool ourselves, the Giants and Commanders are going to be major competition for the Cowboys this upcoming season. I think the Eagles have the worst QB situation and will end up 4th in the division.

You can make a case for any team right now, but at this point it is totally irrelevant. There is a draft and free agency ahead of us. That’s like complaining that dinner is going to suck as the chef is on the way to the grocery store.

Washington is a head scratcher. Are they a very good defense with a now capable QB? Maybe. I could see Fitz setting the world on fire. I could also seeing him throwing a ton of picks and being benched for the better part of the year. Do you know who Washington will lose to injuries? Or is Washington immune from injuries like we had last year.

The Giants are probably better than their record suggests, but I do NOT think they have found the QB of the future and they also have Garrett dragging down the average now. Do you expect Garrett to suddenly coach up his team’s strength?

Philly is just Philly. All over the place. They are going to be hurting under cap constraints, and could easily bury themselves. They better hope Hurts is the real deal. If Hurts is a franchise QB they just dug themselves partly out of the hole.

The NFCE team that drafts the best will put themselves in a position to win the division. I do think the Cowboys have a larger margin for error than the rest of the division. If we have a good draft (3 starters and two role players out of this draft) we win the NFCE going away and it won’t even be close.

Hurts is still not ready. He may improve, I don't know. I'm sure he's putting in the work to do just that. But what I saw from him last year tells me he's still a college QB. Runs a lot and throws to wide open WRs. Scrambles for a busted play to either run or throw to a wide open WR. The Cowboys D made him look bad. Again, I'm not saying he can't improve. But as of last season he is by far the worst QB in the division.

Dak’s cap hit is nearly 10M less than last year. And next year its going to be about 2M more than last year. We have to pay a lot more in 2023 sure.

Washington is still the team to beat. I actually like the Fitz signing for them until they piece together a franchise QB
Giants can sign all the offensive weapons they want however it will mean nothing without fixing their putrid OL
Eagles...just lol

IF the giants ever fix the OL they can become a serious threat to us as well

Dak's cap hit this year is not crippling. But it hasn't been crippling since he's joined the Cowboys. There's a reason they gave him a 6 year deal. Probably to restructure next year so that his 2022 cap hit is minimized. We're good with Dak cap hit for several years. And depending on how much the cap goes up, probably good as far as the eye can see. We both know that's not the problem. For whatever reason the FO. doesn't seem to know how to get over the top using FA and the draft. Every year and situation is different. One size fits all never works.

Dak may have been playing for the Cowboys in 2021 either way but, signing him long term is a huge signing and deserves to be counted in the plus column for the Front Office's handling of the off-season.

1) I am still amazing a team that was 12 million over the cap (Eagles) were able to land player who lead all S with interceptions in 2020. I have to believe there was relationship with Smith agent and Eagles because Dallas has been looking for turnover S for about 25 years (Darren Woodson had 12 ints from '04-'06).
2) Golladay is dynamic and has potential to be impact player for them. Impact players changes the trajectory of a team and this one signing puts Giants into conversation of being a team who could make noise.
3) Washington Defense is already best in division and they go ahead and sign the #1 rated CB in FA. Then add Fitzpatrick who is unpredictable and crazy enough to put together a season that puts Washington in running for division.

Now we come to Cowboys. Team that just invested their well being and "all-chips in" regardless if they want to be in that position or not by signing Dak to monster contract. Dak now makes 4 times as much as any other QB in the division - so their window is NOW. To show fans how committed they are to winning championship now they added several players we had to google because we never heard about them. Neal would be lone exception but is he SS or LB? If we can't say which position he is its possible he isn't good at either position. Again, when your team is all-in why not be the team who signs the leading interception S in league for measly $5 mill year?? Dallas couldn't beat Jacksonville offer of 7th round pick for Malcom Brown?? The Jones continue to build their case of lacking self awareness and it should surprise nobody if we are revisiting these issues when we watch other teams play deep into playoffs.
Giving up already huh. Free agency isn’t over. The draft is yet to come. Trade deadline is not until Nov. Chill. Take a deep breath and chill.

Didn't follow Philly or WFT's FA signings but saw that NYG signed DT Leonard Williams & WR Galladay to huge starter contracts.

I believe WFT's defensive starters are far superior to Dallas's.
I also think the Giants defenders are a decent amount better than Dallas's.
And Philly's are a toss up between the 2.

Will be interesting to see how this now supposedly superior Dak led offense looks against WFT and the Giants imo.

Have no idea about Philly.

I agree, he's counted. But he's not an FA improvement.

Cowboys also have the most bad deals on the books than anyone in the NFC East.

Washington won the offseason every year in the early 2000s. They still couldn’t make the playoffs.

From Deion to Albert Haynesworth and Clinton Portis. Every year they made a splash and every year it didn’t matter.

Nothing to see here.

LOL..........very very true. You could probably look back 5 years or more and we probably lost every single time in FA to everyone in the NFC East. Which means we have drafted better because not much has changed.

I believe we have 3 of the highest paid positions in the league (RB, WR and QB?) yet not one of them is top 5. We’re all good.
that is my problem with this team. when you pay the money that those three make you have to make the playoffs. yet this team has missed the playoffs the last two years. still have made enough moves to improve the team around them. hopefully the draft helps this team.four premium picks in the first three rounds need to future starters and not special teams players.

Not to mention, not only is it an embarrassment to have the highest paid RB in the league but to set a new NFL record for paying a RB with TWO years left on his contract is comical. Jerry has no concept of positional value or how to build a winning team.

If the signings thus far make Dallas less desperate in 2021 to fill draft needs and reach for players at S and DT, then the team can settle in and truly pick best players available. We didn't "NEED" a WR, but he sure did add value to our team with CeeDee Lamb.
