Maybe I am crazy but maybe we should let Gallup earn his contract and Tolbert develop. We have a number 1 in CeeDee that will probably want top of the market pay. Let’s continue to draft and develop. Who knows Addison or someone like him could fall to 26.
Problem is that we are hoping Gallup returns to his former self, aint no guarantee that is true. Next, we are hoping that Tolbert will develop but sometimes it takes rookies a couple of years to really play the position well.

Sure we can draft a receiver at 26, but we are hoping that one of the top receivers will fall. There is no guarantee that happens and there might be a run on receiver starting around 15-25 area and then we are wiped out. We could draft another Tolbert in the 3rd round and hope he develops faster, but again, no guarantee that happens.

You notice we are doing a lot of hoping and hope is not a strategy............bottom line is we cant go into the season with just Lamb as the only totally healthy vet receiver on the roster.

JuJu just signed for 11m and OBJ at 50% is more than JuJu ever has been.
Exactly..............A gimp OBJ running around on one leg like Gallup last year is still better than a totally healthy JuJu.

I got no problem giving OBJ the same contract JuJu got (3yr/$11 per)

You are also hoping that a guy who has two ACL injuries in the last two seasons can return to at least a pro bowl level and he is 30 years of age. You are also hoping that trading a valuable asset to get another over 30 player that has not played well his last two seasons because of injury and suspension. It’s not that easy. At least with Gallup he is 26 years of age in his prime. The Cowboys know him. You guys will be the first people whining and crying when DHop hurts his hamstring or OBJ sits out practice and games because he only feels playoff games are important.

He missed 12 games in 2020 and 2021 combined.

He didn’t play at all last season.

He’s played two full seasons his entire career.

He’s over 30 at a very physically demanding position.

He’s the epitome of serious injury risk.

We don't need this headache....bad chemistry
Then what is the alternative?

We dont know if Gallup will return to form, what we saw last year might be what we get this year so we have to plan accordingly (hope for the best, plan for the worst).

That leaves Lamb as the only healthy vet WR on the roster, thats it.

So, whats the plan? We trading a 2nd for Dhop? Doesnt look like Cap Boy is down with that. We drafting a rook at 26 even though rook WRs typically struggle their first year?

For those that dont want OBJ, tell me what your alternative plan is then.

Gallup is a gimp now, just like you claim OBJ is since they both had the exact same injury.

So we are going to roll with Lamb and Gallup the gimp as the only vet WRs on the roster and just hope for the best:huh:

If I told you were getting a player who was the best player on a Super Bowl run who was on his way to MVP for 12-14m per year that is a bargain. If not for said ACL tear he likely is getting 20-22m which is why you get him cheaper: far higher upside than any other WR in the 10-15m but larger risk.
seriously. feel like our fan base is acting really emotionally over the situation. he’d be a great get (at the right price)

We will definitely see an improved Gallup next year. He was clearly rushed back when he wasn't ready. It takes time to recover and he just wasn't fully healthy yet. No reason to believe he won't be the same Gallup we saw before his injury.

I am pretty confident Jerry told him to see what his market is and come back to him. The market is telling us 11 million a season and he wants more then that, Cowboys would be foolish to pay more, if another team won't do the same.
4 is kinda low but 4 with some incentives on playing time and production that could get him big money is worth the risk for a team

I think many times it’s just getting confidence back in your body. I expect him to be fine this year and his skill set kinda fit what MM is talking about. He’s good on slants and is really good at double moves.

Resign TY or Isaiah McKensie and draft a dude like Hyatt at 58. Lets roll. IM can play slot wr really well. But I hear we might trade and get Renfro from the Raiders.
