Obviously Romo & agent are playing big time hard ball

No way the Bucs would trade Freeman for Romo. He's 25, fits that vertical passing game, and still presents a good deal of upside. They've gotten younger and turned over the roster, bringing in Romo goes against Schiano's plan.

Nobody is suggesting a trade of Romo for Freeman.

Not what I meant, Bucs wouldn't want to replace Freeman with Romo. Obviously they wouldn't do a straight up trade.

I don't know. As I look at Tampa right now, they are not far away. They are pretty good in a lot of areas. If they had a top QB, they could be in the playoffs and perhaps better. They have a strong running game and they defend the run really well. They will not be in a position spend like they can now in a few years. About the time I think they might see Freeman come into his own, they could be in a position where they start to lose pieces because of cap. If they signed a QB like Romo now and brought Freeman along, they might have a chance to actually compete for a championship. I'm not saying they are in the running. In fact, I pretty much said just the opposite. However, if I look at them, they are a team who could easily keep Freeman and develop him and still sign a QB like Romo.

Tampa is a young team being built for sustained success, and they've been doing it the right way since Schiano got there last off-season. Why in the world would they choose to replace their 25 year old up and coming QB who can grow with their young roster with a 33 year old guy?

Freeman is pretty good; 27 TDs to 17 INTs and over 4K yards passing last year as a 24 year old. That's a better TD to INT ratio than Romo had. And they run a downfield vertical passing game, Freeman is better suited for that offense than Romo is.

I would agree that he has a better arm then Romo but lets face it, Romo runs a vertical offense also. If you put Romo behind that line, with his ability to move and that running game, he's going to produce more then Freeman. The reason you might want to do this is because you can win now with a good QB. The NFL is a here and now game. If you wait two years, everything could be different and you may not have the chance to compete for a championship.

I'm saying it would happen but I am saying that they are a team who could do it and it might be appealing to them, who knows?
