He's on with Babe this week talking about Wade and how he won 13 games last year with his style. So just because he only won 9 games this year with the same style he doesn't understand why it's a problem.
I guess winning 13 games, but no playoffs game is 'ok' for Terence Newman.
He also talks about how there is no need to be mad in the locker room after the game because the games over and it's only going to make them sweat a little more for no reason.
My question is this?
Wouldn't just pure emotion still have you angry in the locker room mere minutes after being embarrassed on National TV?
I am starting to understand this team the more I hear them blab.
They just won't ever be champions.
It is what it is.
I think that a lot of fans have this misguided fantasy of athletes and their emotions. People feel like, if a player isn't visibly angry, that he doesn't care. Just because an athlete doesn't display his emotions, it doesn't mean that they aren't there. Do you really want everyone on the team to be on the sideline yelling at one another, like Tank Johnson was?
13-3, with no playoff win, probably was ok with Newman and the rest of the Cowboys. That doesn't mean they can't be frustrated that they missed an opportunity and could have done better. It is like taking a calc. final and getting a high B. You'd feel like, if only I had done a little bit more studying, if only I had paid attention a little closer, then I would have gotten an A. But when you get the results, you don't go ape poo crazy and start putting your fist through walls. The outcome isn't what you wanted, but it's ok, you'll get another chance next year.
Newman is exactly right that, just because we went 9-7 this year, that doesn't mean there is a problem with Wade. It's foolish not to take into account the major impact that injuries had on our season. Did the coaches always do everything perfect? No. Did the players? No. It's unrealistic to expect that. When Cowher had a three year stretch in the middle of his career of winning 7, 6, and 9 games, did it mean there was something fundamentally wrong with his coaching philosophy? Absolutely not. Sometimes you just don't have the right personell, whether it be due to injuries, unlucky drafting, or retirements.
The players care about winning, so do the coaches and our Owner. If you don't think that's the case, then find a new team to root for. But have fun experiencing the same exact thing, regardless of which of the other 31 teams you decide to support.
