lol it really doesnt matter. he took stab at it. it was 50/50. what i found funny is while he said all this, this morning. not too long ago on foxsports bayarea, they said the niners had stopped talks with thomas agent, as thomas was supposed to visit Sf tomorrow. citing niners were putting more interest in CB, as the signing of clements came quick, then lewis.
Right. We knew it was going to be 49ers or the Patriots. The guy jumped the gun and "reported" it was the Patriots.

It's unfortunate that this will only convince the idiots that he's a legitimate source. Nevermind that he's being wrong time and time again.

I posted several in a thread the other day. One of his first "inside" stories was that Vinatieri had signed a new deal with the Patriots. He was 100% certain and it was just matter of time until it was announced. A few days later Vinatieri signed with the Colts. In another thread he stated that the CBA was signed and a done deal but it wasn't finished until a week later. The guy just reads the tea leaves and makes predicitons, claiming they're inside info. Sometimes they're right and sometimes they're not.

Several places reported that NE was interested in Thomas. NONE reported he signed or even his signing was imminent before this thread was started.

Everywhere seems to time stamp these days. Find one place that was in front of him.

No place had reported Thomas was signed that I know of. Then again, no place had reported that Vinatieri was signed when he claimed that either.

The guy makes predictions and claims they're fact. Sometimes they come true and sometimes they don't.

Besides that, his hideous grammar and spelling annoy me. Oh well, believe the junk he spews if you like. Like I said, he's obviously in the industry -- he's just too confident about his sources sometimes.

And you knew that Moulds was going to the Texans before anyone else even thought about it how?

I had what I considered an impeccable source last year that told me Dallas was going after a player from Ohio State in round one. When I asked if it was Carpenter, he lied right to my face then changed the subject. (Ask Hos if you don't believe me, I'd been PMing him about it at the time, except that he knows who the source was). Sometimes "sources" are wrong or we hear them wrong. It happens.

THOMAS DEAL COMING?

John Tomase of the Boston Herald reports that the Patriots have struck a "preliminary deal" with free-agent linebacker Adalius Thomas.

But we sense a certain uneasy quality about the report, and it lacks the same unequivocal feel that most reports of player signings posses. If that makes any sense.

We're not saying it won't happen. But, for now, we're not completely convinced that it will.

If Thomas does indeed end up in NE, that's a ferocious move. With all of the positions Thomas can play mixing in w/ Belichick's willing to actually play him at all those positions, he could be the NFL's first 10 sack, 10 INT player ever.

 your an FBI agent!! r

http://www.cbc.ca/sports/story/2004/05/21/danton040521.html

FBI agent John Jimenez testified that Blues teammate Ryan Johnson described the player-agent relationship as "strange and bizarre." Johnson, Danton's roommate on road trips, told the FBI agent Danton and Frost would talk by telephone or text-message each other constantly each day, Jiminez said.

Just my opinion, but some posters in this thread owe Doomsday81 an apology. He brought some valid info, way before it hit the airwaves, and took some crap. It is up to those who took shots, but if I had taken a shot at him I would eat some crow and apologize.

I understand skepticism, but when a man turns out to be right, acknowledge it. He's told people that we can validate that he does work for an NFL team. Okay, here's your validation, and I'll add mine. Yes, we can see that he indeed does work for an NFL team.

That doesn't mean every tip he shares is going to come true. We should all know that. He's simply trying to share with fellow fans what he hears or comes across. JMO folks. Do with it whatever you will.

Patriots land their man: Snag prized LB Thomas

By John Tomase
Boston Herald Sports Writer
Saturday, March 3, 2007 - Updated: 01:20 AM EST

Making one of the boldest free agent strikes in franchise history, the Patriotslast night agreed in principle to a contract with former Baltimore Ravens linebacker Adalius Thomas.

Terms were not immediately available, but the deal is expected to include between $15 million and $20 million of guaranteed money, according to sources with knowledge of the negotiations.

Thomas was in town yesterday and has a physical scheduled for today. Assuming he passes, the deal could be announced by tonight.

The Patriots beat out the 49ers for the two-time Pro Bowler and jewel of the free agent class. The seven-year veteran is considered a prototypical fit for the Pats’ 3-4 system after playing several positions for the Ravens.

The exact terms of the deal surely will be huge.

Bills cornerback Nate Clements signed an eight-year, $80 million contract with the 49ers yesterday that includes $22 million in guaranteed money.
Those normally aren’t the kinds of numbers embraced by the Pats.
This year, however, appears different.

Team president Jonathan Kraft and owner Robert Kraft guaranteed they’d spend to the $109 million salary cap - they entered free agency with roughly $26 million to spend - and appear to be making good on their promise.

The addition of Thomas to an already formidable defense proves the Patriots are serious about reloading a roster that fell a minute shy of reaching its fourth Super Bowl in six years.

Nicknamed “Slash” for his ability to play any linebacker spot as well as defensive end, tackle, safety and even corner, the 6-foot-2, 270-pound Thomas made one Pro Bowl on special teams and another at linebacker in Baltimore. He recorded a career-high 11 sacks with 64 tackles last year and gives the Patriots an outstanding linebacking corps that includes Tedy Bruschi, Mike Vrabel and Rosevelt Colvin.

Thomas is exactly what the Patriots draw up when they consider linebackers for their system. The 29-year-old - he turns 30 in August - has the size and speed to play off the line and is comfortable with a hand down. He can take on guards in the middle or torment quarterbacks as one of the best edge rushers in the business.

He’s also a worker.

Selected in the sixth round of the 2000 draft - 13 picks ahead of quarterback Tom Brady- Thomas steadily rose from special teams to starter. Initially stuck behind Peter Boulware and Michael McCrary on the Ravens’ depth chart, he spent the first four years of his career largely as a backup and special-teamer.

He earned All-Pro honors for his special teams coverage in 2003, then became a starter at linebacker in 2004. He has averaged 80 tackles and just more than nine sacks a year since.

Thomas made the Pro Bowl this year and spent a week with Patriots coach Bill Belichick in Hawaii, returning a fumble 70 yards for a touchdown in the AFC’s victory.

Thomas’s agent, Bus Cook, did not return calls seeking comment last night.

The player was only available because the cash-strapped Ravens chose not to franchise him for $7.2 million.

“That was not an 11th-hour decision,” Ravens GM Ozzie Newsome said at last week’s NFL Combine in Indianapolis. “We’ve been facing that since the beginning of training camp, knowing that we could have to make that decision. I think it was a fair decision.”

The Patriots would apparently agree. They got their man last night. The retooling of the three-time Super Bowl champions has begun.

Pats defense gets boost as Thomas agrees to deal
By Len Pasquarelli
ESPN.com

Not since 1995, when Willie McGinest was in just his second season, have the New England Patriots had a defender post double-digit sacks. That long drought is likely to end in 2007.

The Patriots have reached an agreement in principle with former Baltimore Ravens linebacker Adalius Thomas, among the premier players in the unrestricted free agent pool, and the seven-year veteran appears to be a perfect fit for coach Bill Belichick's trademark 3-4 defensive scheme.

Thomas has 28½ sacks over the past three seasons, with a career-best 11 sacks in 2006.

Thomas, 29, will have a physical examination on Saturday, when the contract is expected to be finalized. Financial details of what is believed to be a six-year deal, the principle elements of which were agreed to Friday, were not yet available.

But Thomas, who played for Belichick in the Pro Bowl last month, almost certainly will be one of the highest-paid players in free agency.

Rated by ESPN.com as the No. 2 unrestricted player available, Thomas figures to land guarantees totaling at least $15 million. There is speculation the contract will average $10 million per year.

With its once-feared linebacker corps in obvious decline, and forced to cut and paste on the unit over the past couple seasons, the New England defense sorely needed the kind of upgrade Thomas should bring.

He is the kind of hybrid, edge-type player around whom Belichick has traditionally constructed his defensive schemes, a wonderfully versatile athlete who can morph into multiple roles.

In fact, during his seven years in Baltimore, Thomas played nearly every defensive position, including cornerback, at various times. At 270 pounds, Thomas is physical enough to take on the action at the point of attack, yet swift enough to pursue plays from the backside.

His unique blend of physical skills made him the Pats' top target in free agency.

A sixth-round choice in the 2000 draft, Thomas began his career playing on special teams and he earned his first of two Pro Bowl berths in that role. He eventually worked his way into the defensive rotation as a specialist and then became a starter three years ago.

In 96 games, the former Southern Mississippi star has 371 tackles, 38½ sacks, six interceptions, 31 passes defensed, 13 forced fumbles and five recoveries.

New England has also reached agreement with 12-year veteran tight end Kyle Brady on a two-year contract.

Brady, 35, agreed to a two-year contract that is worth $5.3 million and includes a $2 million signing bonus.

The 12-year veteran, who played the past eight years in Jacksonville, likely will replace Daniel Graham on the roster. Graham is one of the top unrestricted free agents and isn't expected to return to New England.

Noted more as a blocker at this late juncture of his career, Brady should team with Benjamin Watson in the two-tight end formations the Pats frequently use. A first-round pick in the 1995 draft, Brady has 334 career receptions for 3,449 yards and 23 touchdowns. His best season was in 2000, when Brady notched 64 catches for 729 yards and three scores.

The former Penn State star saw his playing time and his role as a receiver reduced in recent seasons with the Jaguars, who rarely employ a tight end on third down.

Brady had only five receptions for 37 yards in 2006 and, for the first time in his career, failed to score a touchdown.

Congrats, Doomsday81. This is one instance in which you were correct. It doesn't change the fact that you've been wrong numerous times. You have to understand that when you say you're 100% certain something has happened (as you have in the past) and it doesn't come true, people will be skeptical of your future predictions.

Sometimes you're right and sometimes you're wrong. I've yet to see you be right more often than wrong, however, so the grain of salt goes down every time you post.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Linebacker Adalius Thomas, one of the most sought-after free agents, signed Saturday with the New England Patriots, giving the three-time Super Bowl winners a player in the mold of the departed Willie McGinest.

The 29-year-old Pro Bowl linebacker, one of the keys to Baltimore's defense last season, can play several positions, including outside linebacker and defensive end -- as McGinest did until he left last season for Cleveland.
The Patriots also announced the signings of two other veterans: tight end Kyle Brady and running back Sammy Morris.
"Personally and professionally, we are very impressed with Adalius Thomas," Patriots coach Bill Belichick said. "His playmaking, toughness, intelligence, versatility and character were all factors in our decision to pursue him. Adalius has contributed in many ways to some excellent defensive units and we look forward to getting to work with him."
Brady, 35, played for seasons with the New York Jets and eight with Jacksonville. He has played in 183 games and caught 334 passes for 3,449 yards and 23 touchdowns.
Morris is a seven-year veteran who has played for both Buffalo and Miami.
